I filmed this video 2 days before the little guy arrived! I thought I had 3 more weeks of pregnancy left, but he was born at exactly 37 weeks. Thankfully I got this nursery organization done JUST IN TIME for the baby boy’s arrival.
I worked with Horderly back when I worked at Refinery29 (and also at my last apartment to organize the kitchen) - so I knew I needed their help for the baby’s nursery! They are the best personal organization service I know, and I just knew they’d be IMMENSELY helpful when it came to completely overhauling the space and making sure everything was neat and tidy.
The thought of having the baby come before the nursery was ready was giving me so much anxiety, so I’m really grateful that they came over just in time.
Before Horderly came to help me, Michael and I were using the nursery as a space to hold all of the baby’s things, and it was also being used as storage for some of our miscellaneous items and belongings.
The entire process with Horderly took two days. The first day was when everything started to come together but nothing was neatly folded yet. We just went through the space, organized the items, and figured out where we wanted to put everything. It was great for me to see the progress of where all the nursery items were going to be placed. The second day was when everything was labeled and fully organized. My stress and anxiety literally melted away as I saw all the labels in the space and everything neatly organized with hangers, drawers, boxes, etc. Everything had its place and I could see where everything was. The baby’s clothes, diaper bags, pacifiers, baby medical supplies, baby hats, diapers, bottles, books, toys, etc.
Michael and I even got a baby clothes folding lesson at the end from Jamie!

I didn’t have the luxury or energy to have someone do things for me or for me to fold the clothes that perfect I was so overwhelmed and exhausted from baby. I love this and am happy you get to.
Wow, I love the whole aesthetic of the room and his outfits are too cute. May I ask where your white dishes are from? I love the textured pattern on the plate. We should do a follow up 6 months after baby home to see if the folding clothes situation is still in action. LOL

It would be cool since you are a big proponent and practicer of sustainability if you could try cloth diapers when you recover from delivery and settle into a routine with your baby boy. It seems really daunting, but there are also cloth diaper services that take care of the cleaning for you, i bet there are some in NYC, and maybe a potential sponsor?

Folding baby clothes on the carpet?! I'm shocked! I don't even put baby stuff on my bed!
half of this stuff is so unnecessary and it conveys the pressure to have it all or you wont be a good mom to your child. so excessive and wasteful. obviously it's still all beautiful and I wish you all the best... but this is a nursery tour only privileged people should watch I feel like :D
