  • Kirby Allison is again joined by Joe Hemrajani of MyTailor, this time to conduct a first fitting on his very first bespoke Top coat. This Topcoat will be a dark navy, made from wool, in a double breasted style, probably the most stylish way for Kirby to stay warm this coming Winter.
Based in Southern California, but travelling worldwide for fittings, Joe Hemrajani first began making shirts for Kirby almost 8 years ago. After a successful first suit, Kirby was keen to continue their fantastic working relationship. At this price range, Jo Hemrajani is easily one of the best options out there for incredible quality bespoke suits.

Caleb Shipley I couldn’t have said if any better. I’ve noticed the aforementioned a few times before as of late, and similarity, have found these videos a bit disrespectful to his guest (ie conversations with others while polishing shoes). Above all, he’s coming off extra pretentious.

I agree with the others here about talking over people. I stopped watching at 3:40 as it’s too frustrating. I want to hear insider words of wisdom from the guy being ‘interviewed’ or carrying out the work, but you talked over the tailor telling him what’s important with tailoring!

I’ve been enjoying your video for the past two years and I have to thank you for many things I’ve learned about shoe care and sartorial clothings.
One thing I noticed in recent times is the abundance of superlatives in your titles you have been using lately, compared to the older ones. I’m aware that UA-cam-and on a broader scale, nowadays’ medias and people-prefers click-baiting and catchy titles to sober ones. Tho, in my humble opinion, a gentleman shouldn’t need to follow “degrading” trends to make himself more desirable. In a web world where many people shout and are excessive in order to be unique and be noticed, sobriety and moderation are two lost qualities that really make someone unique.
As a well known proverb-especially after the Kingsman movies-says: manners maketh man.
That being said, I look forward to your next videos with great interest as always.

I don’t see a problem with the approach Kirby takes when interviewing craftsmen ; he’s documenting the consultation and as such he has the right to ask as many questions as needed; it’s also important to note that he is working as a mediator to help illustrate the why’s behind each aspect of the garment and process, this is relevant when working with craftsmen as often the process is so natural to them that they struggle to interpret/articulate the importance/limitations behind each step. Ps: i work in the menswear industry and my input is based on my experience alone. Thank you Kirby for sharing these videos with us.

Yes, but he's not listening to him. He's asking all these questions and then either answers them himself, whilst interrupting him; or he doesn't even bother listening to what he says, and just wants to ask the questions, before realising they've been answered.

Coat is coming along nicely! I will be visiting the My Tailor folks in a few weeks for my first shirt order with them. I will mention that you sent me. I have a few general questions: When buying bespoke how is the payment made? Do you pay everything up front, or half up front and half on completion? What is the protocol? Second question: Who are your style influencers? I have heard you mention your Grandfather several times. Is there someone else whose aesthetics you admire? Keep up the great content!

Kirby Allison Apologies re-reading my comment today it seems a little on the aggressive side, I don’t necessarily think you’re directly trying to prove yourself but when your interrupting and almost answer your own questions it feels as though that’s the impression you’re trying to give. Maybe as a suggestion ask the question and give the person 5-10 seconds to attempt an answer before then sharing your own views ? Or share your own views and then ask the question so you’ve at least created a talking point based on your views and then asking the question.
Don’t get me wrong this is really only the first video of yours that it’s seriously noticeable, otherwise I think your content is great and super informative.

And, for Kirby’s Handlers, I have a few positive suggestions:
    1. Never allow any Gentleman to disclose they are in Cali... unless that Gentleman is a 3 Star Michelin Tyre Chef.
    2. Kirby requires a decent hair cut, as the back curls up a bit. If you let me at him with my trimmers and razors, Kirby will have a haircut acceptable to go to church.
    3. That last presentation, of a loose twill/tweed jacket is timeless. I have 2 critique items, for good... A. It is undersized for Kirby B. At Kirby’s dimensions, I would still impart a liner, with most important feature (to hold shape). Ie. prevent the jacket from hanging like a potato sack after a rain, and after 10 years.

@@mmgianmarco Nah dude, I dont think so, nor do I think I am wrong in my assessment of the viewer base. Listen,, there are lots of videos and chans about people getting bespoke suits, shoes whatever, I am merely suggesting that it would be a much more interesting and relevant direction to go towards things the viewer base can actually buy. There are no chans I am aware of who does that high-end ready-to-wear stuff. that many of us actually buy already and are interested in on a real level. The video fantasies of homemade shoes and suits, it is nice but far from novel.

Joe and his son travel all over the country with trunk shows so accessible to most of the USA. Their shirts start around $100 so pretty attainable to many people as well.
