What trees are those? Spruce or Fir? I collected similar mushrooms near my village in a forest of west Himalayan Firs. Though these morels are not as dark and are broader.
Sarah Temple, thanks for your question. I'm using a Garmin 64st that I've had for over a year. It's awesome and it never loses signal. There's a newer one, the 66St, but it's about $100 more, with a few nice features. Make sure you get a good one that's made for the outdoors, hiking etc., because the cheaper ones will lose signal in the mountains. Thanks for watching.
Well, that was an amazing day! I can only dream of having a morel hunting day like that. I do need to start learning about altitudes and taking that into account when I am out.

Yes, in the Pacific Northwest, the morels fruit at different elevations throughout the season, and a hundred feet difference on Amy day can make a big difference. If you have an iPhone, you can use the compass app that’s built in. It shows you elevation in real time even if you don’t have cell service. Give it a try.
