Hell yeah Dude and Dudette 😉👍. Just got back from the Cascades foraging for more Kings. It was epic. Working on Vid now. Thanks for watching and sharing. Have a great day. 👊🍄
Thanks Brother , yeah was quite amazing. Thank you for the Shout out. Appreciate some of the tips you shared helped me narrow down areas to Forage. That OnX Hunt app was a great recommendation as well. 👊🍄
Hey there. Thank you for asking and watching and sharing. If you watch the different King bolete videos and look at the habitats I'm looking in and also some of the information I share in the videos it can really help with your searching. Of course for my videos, they are primarily in WA state. But a lot of the information is relevant to the PNW as well. I will keep your suggestion and try and incorporate it into future videos. Bolete season is happening now so I will post more as I go out and forage. Appreciate you being here. Thanks again. 👊🍄
Yes for sure. But hey, every day above-ground mushroom hunting is a beautiful day of a lifetime eh Mike. We did end up with quite a few and since it's a newfound area, waiting on the fall flush later. Amazing no matter what. Thank you for watching and commenting. Appreciate you, Brother. Good luck to you if you do go out and forage. Chanterelles are out and are heading out tomorrow for Lobsters. Have a great day 👊🍄
@@ImFungiHunter Very true! Any day foraging is a good one. Always awesome to find a new spot. its been pretty slow for me south of St. Helens, so heading north and up in elevation next weekend 🤞
Hey there. The best way to learn about mushrooms is first to know what kind of mushrooms they are. King Boletes , (Boletus edulis) are mycorrhizal and have an association with specific types of trees for whatever the area you are. Pine, fir, hemlock, spruce and Oak are all types of trees you would look for. Knowing the times of year they fruit and also learning about elevation and temperature. I've read lot's of field guides. I've joined many mushroom clubs. Looking for information online. Watching videos of others. The ultimate is putting all that info you learn into practical use and going to the areas and scouting. A lot of people don't realize how many years of trips out to the forest to look for them and whats involved. I keep referencing photos and videos over the years on when I went and the weather conditions are important factors as well as timing. Having great friends here and in real life who I engage with and talk about mushrooms and what they are seeing and vice versa is also very important. I know it's a lot, all of this has played an important part in any successful finds I have made over the years. It is magical when you apply the info, go to an new area and find some for the first time and also knowing that you can come back the following year to YOUR spot. you found, well that my friend is priceless. Thank you for the question and also for watching. I appreciate you. Hope that helps. Good luck with your foraging👊🍄
Hey there, that's awesome . Guess what? your 1-2 up on me as I have never foraged for them in AK. But if you have found them, if you took pics then you can reference the date as when you did find them and maybe plan on going to look either before or after the times. It depends on the weather, if it rained or its too dry. Very cool you did. Thanks for sharing and watching. 👊🍄
Haha I did the exact same thing today with milk caps in Florida! Found a chicken of the woods too and fried it for dinner. What do you do with the stems? I make lots of duxelles… 😊
Hello, Thank you for watching. Nice, yes just found Chicken of the Woods recently. Got a short video on it. The stems I usually dry rub season and dry a bit then vac seal for a while then I usually grill or part smoke /grill. They are excellent sauteed as well. I'm editing a VID about it but it's finished. Duxelles is awesome. You should try drying and powdering and then add seasonings to the powder. Makes awesome gravy and great additive to soups, BBQ sauces, Pizza, and also risotto. 😋 Thank you so much for commenting. I appreciate it very much. Have great day👊🍄
Mahalo Brother for the kind words. If I ever head to the island, I would love to get together. LMK if your heading over here to the mainland happy to get together and do some foraging. Thanks for watching and also commenting. Aloha WS. 👊🍄❤️
Oh yes it's quite the Healthy addiction for sure. The Fall is coming and it's an excellent time to go depending on where you are. Are you on the West Coast in WA? Happy to suggest some areas to consider. Just remember ..."You won't know, unless you GO!! So start learning stuff and watch some videos and get ready to find some Boletes. One of my very favorites for both Nutritious and Delicious as far as Mushrooms go. There's a reason there called the KINGS !!! Thank you so much for watching and commenting, I appreciate you👍 Good Luck👊🍄
I’m on the Kitsap Peninsula here in WA! Never know whether to go to the Olympics or Cascades (which has better boletes?) Difficult not having a lot of time for this things. I’ve been watching Aaron Hilliard’s channel for about a year, now I’m obsessed with mycology. I’m also on iNaturalist. I’m excited for fall!
@@whoe_whate8487 Nice. Yes it's always a decision. Kitsap is ana awesome area. Aaron is great I watch him as well. By watching the different videos of people here you can get an idea of what's happening where. As fas as Kings, the Coast is really great later in the Fall. Keep in touch, learn all you can with videos in the meantime. When I hear something or go out and find any I will share in here. They are at the top of my list for favorites. Cool thing about the Coast is when things shut down here in the higher elevations because winter is fast approaching, the Coast stays active for quite some time and the farther south you go there can still be Mushrooms. Great to hear your so excited about it. Thanks again for watching and sharing and learning. 👊🍄

Curious what information you had learned that helped you find what habitat king bolete's like?
