i was working the other day (i work at a liquor store) and this guy had his ID from South Africa and i started talking about Rodriguez and we had a 5 min convo and he just beamed the whole time. it was really cool
Cos it was back then when people like him got ripped off and made them millions..but you know what!! His talent will be huge ALWAYS because he is just BRILLIANT!!
This Avant guy who stole Rodriquez's money is still hailed as a hero in the USA. The black godfather. Now his wife was murdered inside their impenetrable Beverly Hills mansion in weird circumstances.
Around 1999 a beautiful South African girl asked me if I ever heard of Rodriguez?...No.. 2012 I saw they were searching for Rodriguez won the Oscars and I watch the movie and was so touched by the music but most of all he came from my neighborhood in Detroit... there's a picture of him in the movie with three kids in front of an old bank called Casa Maria .. that was the community center that I went to after School from the age of 7yrs and became a counselor at the age of 15 ...I grew up there!... although he's a few years older we grew up in the same neighborhood and I love Bob Dylan and this guy was better than Bob Dylan.

tatatata211 d That opinion has no basis in fact. Look at all the monumental black acts from the 60s and 70s. James Brown, The Jacksons, The supremes, Otis Redding, Chuck Berry, Bill Withers, Sly and the Family Stone, Ike and Tina Turner, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Pride, Ray Charles, BB King, The Temptations, The Four Tops, and on and on and on. Good music will sell in the US it doesn't matter what color the artist is. I think Rodriguez just didn't get enough exposure.
