BMW M2: Do88 Performance Engine Oil Cooler Install

- In this video we install and review the engine oil cooler for the BMW M2 made by do88 Performance, a Swedish company specialized in silicone hoses, anything related to automotive cooling, and much more.
Because of the oil cooler’s larger volume, more oil gets cooled while driving, lowering the running temps of the oil (especially when pushing the car), prolonging the life of your oil, in its turn prolonging the life of the engine.
Huge shoutout to do88 Performance for sponsoring this video:

Thanks Craig, there’s more to come!
I have to write a comment again - you sir know how to deliver with these intros. Great content for UA-cam and I can say for sure: you made me laugh!
Thanks for the kind words mate!
Yes, what a fantastic video😁😁
Oil and Oil coolers are probably the most important thing on a high performance BMW for me I am always intrigued by them so this video was much enjoyed as you can imagine!!!
And the Humour😂😂😂😂
Your videos are wayyy more hilarious than any other on UA-cam and I can say that with a passion👌
And this is easily the frickin best video you have so far I honestly don't think I have ever laughed this much in my entire life😂😂😂😂
Thank you for bringing joy to my life😁😁
Thanks as always buddy, I agree with you too. I think this is my best upload so far.

Thank you my man, will keep it in mind for the next upgrade!
Picking up my m2 performance in 1.5 week 🥵🥹🥹
Let's go, congrats! I've got lots more M2 videos coming up for you!
Good install, should definitely see some oil temp benefits when pushing the car harder👌🏾 and funny skits as usual 🤣
Fr fr, thanks as always man
You made it look so easy. Great job! Liked and subbed😊
Appreciate it mate!🙏🏻
Your battery video is still my favourite, but this one comes close.
Haha thanks buddy, appreciate the comments! New video in the making
Why not combine it with the mosselman oil thermostat n55 , for lower oil temperature?
I’m not sure about the purpose of the Mosselman oil thermostat. It does lower the running temps when driving normally, because it opens earlier. However, the oil used in our cars is designed to be used at 105 - 115 degrees Celsius, meaning that there isn't an issue in the first place, right? It feels a bit like creating a solution for a problem that isn't there. So if you then track the car, this thermostat won't save you either, because it does not improve the flow of the oil to the oil cooler. On track it does exactly the same as an OEM oil cooler (apart from opening slightly earlier, slightly delaying your oil getting (too) hot). A more viable option would then be to get a larger oil cooler so that more volume of oil can be cooled, or work on improving the flow to the oil cooler. That’s the reason why I went for a larger/more efficient oil cooler. Hope that helps and consider subscribing mate!
@@TheHunterHofman Yes your right it aint a problem , i must say i do like the oil cooler mod ;) youve got a cool channel with lots of upgrades and diy maintenance good job 👌very helpfull
Another good video. Can I ask for reason why you changed it? Are you tracking your m2?
Thanks mate! To be honest? Content. It’s been a couple of days now and I do note lower oil running temps, so that’s nice too! The oil cooler itself is a very nice piece of kit too.
@@TheHunterHofman I guess it will only make difference when it’s needed as car will be letting oil to warm up to the same temps. Only when pushed it will cool down more efficiently.
Hey let's goooooo
Let’s gooooo John🤙🏻
Hi great job, what changes did you notice after installation? What is the cooling temperature before and after?
Thanks man. The running temperatures of my oil are slightly lower; pretty cool (no pun intended). I haven't kept logs or data, but, for instance, my oil doesn't ever get over 115 degrees Celcius anymore (where that was still possible with the original oil cooler).
Hey mate!!! thanks for the video!! I noticed when you jack your car up, you don't use jack adapters to fit the plastic BMW jack holes on the sides of the car. did you remove those? Also when you use jack stands you place them behind the wheel on the upper end of the control arm. is there a reason for that? I'm looking to do some work on my M2 as well and just want to see where is the safest place to put jack stands. thanks!
Thanks for the compliment man, considered subscribing too?🙏🏻
So yeah, it’s not the correct way to jack up the car. Using jack stands with jack adapters would indeed be the correct way to jack up a car. How I did it is safe (and won’t damage the car), but as I don’t have the jack adapters, I did it this way. Hope that helps buddy, cheers
@@TheHunterHofman got it, thanks! Subbed
I know our engines aren’t exactly the same, but just curious on the temps your N55 was getting during normal operations? I have a 14 435i M sport and during regular driving my oil temp sits either a tick from “12 o’clock”/ 250 F or right at 250 F if I get on it a bit. I ask a couple BMW specialists and they say it’s normal for these. I’m in Los Angeles where it’s a little warmer and that could play a part. My concern is I’m seeing ppl online saying they’re getting temps 10-20 degrees cooler, I’m guessing they’re also in cooler climates. I don’t plan on ever tracking the car or anything, just wanted to get an opinion on the oil temp and see if I’m in a safe zone. Think an upgraded oil cooler would be overkill for me. Thanks for any insight.
The warmer climate probably plays a role indeed. Here in the Netherlands we have a relatively cold climate. Having said that, my temps never get hotter than 110 degrees celsius, and now even less so with the oil cooler; I’m consistently running around 105 degrees celsius. I would say 120 degrees celsius (250F) is in the safe zone still, yes. As long as it won’t go over 250F, you’ll be fine! I think in the end it’s more important to just have 6000 mile interval oil changes (like I do). Hope that helps buddy (and maybe consider subscribing 🙏🏻)
@@TheHunterHofman Appreciate the feedback! Yea, I keep hearing this is normal for the N55’s and the owners manual says the same. Seems for daily driving, any mods to help might be overkill. Bypass valve is the easiest solution, but no sure how wise it’ll be to be running 40 degrees lower. I’m definitely going to get a gts hood in the near future, I’m guessing the vent will help disperse some of that engine bay heat. Thanks again and subscribe 👍🏾
HUNTER DONT CRASH YOUR CAR!
So funny dude
Thanks as always man
LOL NO OIL PRIME.
