The only problem with the 100 series is the enormous cost to replace the master cylinder when they crap out. I'm going through that now with my lexus lx470. My advice to landcruiser owners is get ready because it's going to cost about $2400 for the master cylinder alone when they decide to go.
Thank you Scotty for the opportunity to meet up and you take a look at my Landcruiser! Your a stand up genuine guy and a master mechanic! Keep doing what your doing brother!! Love your passion and Enthusiasm!!
How much did you pay for yours because people want like 17 grand for this vehile with 150k+ miles so I dont know if that is a good price. KBB says yeah but Scotty says not to trust those book values.
@@admirbasic2206 I got lucky. Paid 13k. Spent 1k on tires. With that said 17k is pretty much what your gonna pay with under 200k miles. They have really appreciate greatly this past couple years.
@@jasonvassallo6677 thats another reason I like them. They always make sense to fix up even if something big goes out like a differential because the vehicle value stays high. I hope you enjoy the vehicle and it lasts you a long time!
You do have a scotty in your town. There is a mechanic there somewhere. But, the person is busy, deals with 20 cars a day, and doesnt have the time to give you.

I love your videos my friend. I am a back yard mechanic and usually work on all my own vehicles. You are very smart and very helpful. I appreciate your videos and your help.
I have a 2017 Toyota Land cruiser and I love it. Might not have the latest tech as some other brands, but I know in 20 years, the features on the Land Cruiser will still work and it will hold its value better than 95% of other vehicles available.
I was very impressed with your perseverance during your live stream even though you had all the technical difficulties; most other UA-camr’s would have given up.
Scotty did you hear what happened to a Tesla in Houston? A Tesla crashed in the Woodlands, it caught fire and the 2 people inside died. 1 person was in the back seat, the other was in the passenger seat, the car was driving itself. The Fire Department said that it took over 150k gallons of water to stop the car from burning.
Scotty I used to own a Land Cruiser just like the one you showed at 59 seconds in your video. It was the best vehicle made for cruising the 10,000 acres deer lease we had, you could put it in first gear 4 wheel drive and it would go slower than walking speed and you could easily find deer tracks that way. A mechanic rebuilt the carb with a Toyota carb kit and another guy put a bunch of axle grease in the steering gear box instead of the 90 weight gear oil and it worked great. It had drum brakes all the way around and would stop on a dime. I had a severe auto accident when a guy ran into my postal truck knocking it over 1/10 of a mile from the point of impact leaving me with a bunch of broken bones. I sold the Land Cruiser really cheap to a young soldier stationed at Fort Polk, LA, he was originally from Iowa or Idaho and said he would make the money back the first winter pulling people out of the snow. I currently own a 2011 Tacoma 4x4 TRD and have owned five Toyota’s since 1983. They make the most dependable 4x4 with the highest resale value on the market, the Tacoma.
Oh man these are great vehicles. I have a ‘14 Lexus Land Cruiser and we towed a boat and trailer all around with ease. I don’t recall any issues with it in the four years we’ve had it. Just regular maintenance. Great trucks would highly recommend.
Hi Scotty, I love the Land Cruiser, and how you titled this video 🥰 I drive a 2014 series 200 with the V8 diesel, I live in the UK and these were available until 2016 when they were discontinued. It averages 23mpg (US) because of that wonderful diesel engine. I bought it from new and at 100k miles I had the ATF fluid and filter changed at my local family run Toyota dealership (the best). They showed me the fluid, it was bright red like new, and the filter element was totally clear, nothing at all on it. This is Aisin quality! Had it for 7 years and just over 100k miles and had _zero_ problems with it, nothing whatsoever, and it gets some stiff use, has somewhere around 1,500 off road miles, some of them very rough. I will never, ever sell it. Love the channel! Ioannis
It cracked me up when Scotty mentioned the Picnic Table in the early model CRV's...my 2003 has one and I love showing it to people...I've never used it...LOL
I am highly considering buying one of these in the next couple of years because this is my favorite SUV ever made. But people want almost 20 grand with 200k miles. Sounds steep but understandable because they will never be back in this form ever again. Reliability that can last forever is gone for good. Plastic and overcomputerization everywhere on every modern car.
My 2006 Landcruiser just failed inspection this week. Despite tender care, rust rehabilitation and undercarriage oiling the frame rotted out. Engine and tranny strong. It’s done.🙁
I drive a 1992 fj80 with the 3fe engine, 288000 miles 14.87 mpg on the freeway at 72mph. 73mph drops in to 12.87. Slow underpowered and burns a little oil has the cruiser clunk from the center diff. All electronics work even the cruise control. Still rides nice and is comfortable.
Wait a minute, I thought Scotty's favorite vehicle was the 1961 VW bug. He was driving one around, praising it to the hilt, just the other week! No computer nonsense, no power windows, steering, or brakes. Manual everything, including the tyranny and the window washer pump. In the spirit of KISS, it does not even have a gas gauge! Dependable, free of frills, and not a computer chip in sight.
2006 Toyota Sienna XLE fits a full size mattress in it perfectly. Still going strong with 241,000 on Michigan Roads with no rust on the body. Just in case we all have to 'Live in a Van down by the River" , I'll be ready.
My '99 has 50,860 miles and is close to cherry for a 23 year old vehicle, just needs some minor cosmetic work in a few areas. I had the timing belt replaced a couple of years ago just to be on the safe side and decided to throw in for a new water pump while they were at it. I love my Cruiser ❤
Scotty this is not an interference engine. Look at the forums. When one of these timing belts break the guys just slap another one on there and it's good to go. No problem. Toyota has confirmed that this is NOT an interference engine. And by the way, I get 14.5 mpg in the city but I don't have off-road tires but rather Michelin all seasons.

Although I'm also bummed they won't be selling new ones in the US anymore, it's not like I (or 99% of people watching your vids) can afford $90k for a new one anyway! And if it makes you feel any better, I just won a Copart auction for a 2008 Croozr that the previous owner turned into a hydroplane/high speed off-roader. Despite wiping out @ 70mph, it's mechanically and structurally PERFECT! Just needs some new air bags, srs comp reset, seat belts rebuilt, new side mirror, tail light and some body work and she's good as new! I'm documenting everything with videos that I'll be uploading to help future 200 series folks. While I'm at it, I'm adding a ton of Dynamat to improve the already quiet ride, and massively upgrading the speakers stereo system (Morel and Focal drivers, Mosconi amps and DSP). It will look 100% stock but sound way better than the factory JBL "upgraded" system. May do some other small "improvements" but really there's not much to improve on. The Toyota Land Croozr is the best all-around vehicle ever made IMHO. Aloha Scotty!
I have a 99 rav4 with 350,000 miles and still going. Couple fuel pumps, starter, water pump and timing belt is about all I've done to it. I just started working at Toyota's factory in Kentucky. I will never buy another vehicle other than toyota unless it's just a play toy. Maybe a Chevy hot rod. Would rather build a toyota but engines and turbos for them are very expensive.
I like that guys Cruiser! That is a man that loves his vehicle & takes special care of it. It may not be perfect, but it is perfect for what he needs it for. That is what counts.
Iam a firm believer in toyota 4 wheel drive vehicles. I own a 88 4x truck since new. 200k on it an have been. Canada. Mexico many times an seen most of our US states in it. My cousin has a fj40 for 40 years. We rolled it down a mud embankment 4 times. It spent the night out in the rain upside down until the morning. Back on it wheels an 6 quarts of oil later with on scuffs on fenders. Drove out of there like nothing. Brother in law bought a new 82 4x truck an its ben over 4 times. An to this day its fine. Alittle bent😂 Toyota makes superb products.
Overseas all the land cruisers are diesel and the preferred vehicle for offroad. There's the saying in Australia, take a Land Rover if you want to get to the outback but take a land Cruiser if you want to get back.
GM stopped selling a half-ton van and replaced it with the City Express rebadged Nissan because of fuel economy standards. They can't get those vans much over 18 mpg. My 2002 in a proper state of tune will get 17 or so. It's for sale, I got a 94.
A friend of mines kid is an engineer student at ga tech. He did a study/ paper on Japanese vs everyone else. The quality difference was so high no one was close. Some people don't care about quality, I get it. Life is short get what you want.
have a 1999 myself. LOVE IT. apparently many things are different for the 2006 model year. new gear lever, new tires, has infotainment, i thing a different steering wheel(not sure)
I had an FJ 40...two actually...one while living in the DR..., and later one in CR. 4-cylinder diesel...1978 that I purchased in 95. Slow, but great gas mileage...drove all over CR for 11 years wo a problem.
Agreed I’ve seen many timing belts on those 4.7L with 200,000 cause the water pump was seeping, so changed the timing belt. I luv my 2wd sequoia don’t know if I’ll ever let it go lol
I can only hope you have some family in Southern Wisconsin that you can visit! I’d like you to check out my Dodge Intrepid but I don’t think I would have the time to take it down there. Definitely think that the car could make it there and back with no problems.
In my country, lng installations are very popular. When I buy one, I will put lng - it's 2.5 times cheaper than gasoline. Land Cruiser is my dream car.
I had an 05 Lexus GS with a rubber timing belt. The belt broke at 75k miles, taking the engine with it. Despite the miles, the belt was also about 10 years old (was a low mileage car). Lexus dealer said it should have been changed based on age, not miles, even though they never recommended changing it the years I got it serviced there. I was not happy...
We have these over at ASU. They were at a pizza place over off of Southern Mill Avenue in Tempe Arizona for 6 months. I took pictures and send them to my grandbabies. Beedee Beedee
2020 Land Cruisers were around $90k. Look up the Land Cruiser Namibia, they're not being sold in the US but I think Toyota would sell more than enough of them in the US to reintroduce the model in this country, if they were priced under $50k.

The design on land cruisers are flawless, dealerships overcharge for crappy Chevy Tahoe’s and suburban s that’ll never last 100,000 miles.
Love you Scotty, you are a gem. Which you were having better weather.
Wish Scotty reviewed that Jeep next to the Land cruiser. I know he would just say “rolling buckets of crap” lol😂
I picked up a 2005 LX 470. I love the vehicle so far. Well built vehicles.
Self-driving delivery vehicle: "If you don't like the way it drives, stay off of the sidewalk!" LOL
I will buy a Land Cruiser over any GM or FCA product
Afternoon Scotty!
afternoon!
have a 1999 myself. LOVE IT. apparently many things are different for the 2006 model year. new gear lever, new tires, has infotainment, i thing a different steering wheel(not sure)
I also love my 2wd Tacoma, as simple as it can get and will probably last forever. Toyota's build quality and reliability is no joke
I puff on the Cannabis Cigars to find the vacuum leaks, and get all schmoked up while doing so
I can only hope you have some family in Southern Wisconsin that you can visit!
Scott's Voice reminds me of Characters in Classic Hollywood black and White era films
I love land cruisers. Love that they are reliable and simple
Afternoon, Scotty!
afternoon!
Old Land Cruisers are truly beasts but impossible to find, there is a guy in my neighborhood who has a lifted one and clearly he takes care of it
I had an 05 Lexus GS with a rubber timing belt.
2002 LX470 w/272,000 still love this thing.
2020 Land Cruisers were around $90k. Look up the Land Cruiser Namibia, they're not being sold in the US but I think Toyota would sell more than enough of them in the US to reintroduce the model in this country, if they were priced under $50k.
