      Thanks heaps! The EQ on the MK2 now you can adjust what freq it’s changing so you can really fine tune the weight of your kicks etc…then cassette sim is the right type of dirty to fatten it up.

    It's a good sampler, but with those minipads I can't handle myself, for finger drumming, I sold the SP404mk2 to get the MC-707 and it's perfect for finger drumming. Also the MC 707 reminds me a lot of the E-Mu SP1200, but with that step sequencer on the panel there is no color, with many more controls on the panel and 8 faders the truth is that I much prefer the MC-707 much more expensive, but much more powerful with its Zen-Core synth.
    Thanks for the video, I loved this machine when I had it.

    • @Nonjuror
      @Nonjuror  Рік тому

      I definitely see the advantage of the 707 layout for finger drumming, two rows of pads makes much easier access for two hands. Plus, yeah, the faders / knobs experience on gear there’s no substitute for. Cheers!

      Thanks man! Most of it, would’ve had to use the sp202 to pitch the samples, probably use the 404’s vinyl sim more in place of the mk2’s 303 vs / cassette sim, then run the beat into the sp303 for vinyl sim comp. Everything thing else I think would’ve worked out similar on the sp404.

Always a balancing act to offer something up for the new viewers vs the returning viewers who’ve seen me sample & chop many times, some rudimentary steps they don’t need to see me do over n over again or have to skip past when I feel like the real juicy part is the manipulation of the sounds…more or less.

    I have a question about sampling. Here you are sampling from different vinyl records , even if all this music is in the same key, but the chord progression is different, how can all these semelas be adjusted so that they all sound harmoniously? 🤔

    • @Nonjuror
      @Nonjuror  Рік тому +1

      I usually try to chop out just the parts of the chord progression that work - if it’s in Am but the chord progression of one of them is Am G C E, I might not use the stuff when its C…I dunno, it’s tricky to force different chord progression together. Another approach might be to filter them differently, have one layer more lows / less highs and the other more highs or just the the mids with Isolator, they may clash less then.

    • @doboltalis
      @doboltalis Рік тому +1

      @@Nonjuror Thank you for the detailed answer. You helped me understand some of the nuances of sampling. And is it possible using warp and pitch to adjust some of the necessary chords to the key? Thank you again for your reply. I'm just a beginner and I'm waiting for the delivery of my first ever AKAI mpc. I'm trying to understand the principles of sampling. After all , if you move the chord with a pitch , the intervals will remain the same as they were , for example , for a major chord 1+4+3 half tone, for minor 1+4+3 the halftone intervals will be in triad. Theoretically, for example, it is possible to make any minor chord from Am using pitch. Isn't that right? And build a completely different progression from them than in the original sample .

    • @Nonjuror
      @Nonjuror  Рік тому +1

      Definitely you can get close with time stretch and pitch, it’s usually tricky but not impossible. I usually have one of the samples are the more important one(say a jazz piano type thing) and the other is an additional thing which I will alter the most to make it for the key/bpm.

    BUG ISSUE: I’ve seen a few times on Reddit so not isolated to just me. It’s a rather big bug but probably not notice because a lot of users aren’t using the export project/import project function that much - so it’s going under the radar. If you export a project then you try to import it into a pad slot it doesn’t work...sometimes. And sometimes it does work... and sometimes it doesn’t but it’ll work if you try a different slot. The issue has a second tier - When it doesn’t work it still creates a space on the pad you imported to. When you go to “delete project” and try to delete it it doesn’t delete...kinda...It does delete the information but it doesn’t delete the light indicator until you power off on the unit and delete project again...sometime. Lol So basically it works but it’s not stable.
