I have a short attention span, I'm always skipping around videos on UA-cam, but I find myself always vibing out to these videos, and I end up watching the whole thing....so dope✌🏻
i got my mpc1000 a few years ago, i was so mystified by the MPC workflow and really loved the level of control i had vs the sp404. now i have a live mkii, and it's my favorite instrument i've ever used or played. def recommend saving up, so much fun!!
Quick question: are you running everything through the 303 to get it to all sound from the same source? Or is that more tuning/sound selection. The drum technique I try to emulate is the one I saw you do a while back. Keep it up man!
Thanks man, I use the 202 more for resampling. Getting more dirty vibes from the 202 and filter and sample it back in the XL. I run the beat through it sometimes.
You got a good collection of wax I used to sample off records back on the dayz when I first started being a dj using a gemini sampler.Well this the new way with MPC 2000.I currently used the akai MPD226 for midi controller when making tracks. I really enjoyed your video and this laid-back beat you putting together. 👍🔥 Subscribed 🔔
lol it sounds nuthin like Wu...people nowadays thinkin some new school lo-fi sounds like 90s. You better go back and relisten to 36 Chambers...The classic RZA sound is aggressive and melodic at the same time...Listen to Protect Ya Neck beat and restate your statement. There is no aggression in those new lofi beats. In the early 90s we were poor, frustrated, wildin -- thats why it was reflected in hard core aggressive music.... This music right here is not aggressive...not at all...
Do you have a roll effect on the Boss sampler? I used to have the Boss Dr. Groove 202 back in 2004, and man! There was a roll effect I think where the BASS button is, and when I would turn that on, and put it to the fastest speed possible, and slightly tap or hit a kick or snare, you wouldn't believe how thick, punchy and heavy it made the kick and snare. It was like multiple layers were being triggered at one time with a thick compression effect. When I get the money, I am definitely getting either the Boss Dr. Groove 202, this one you got here, or the SP-404. If y'all never used the roll effect at the highest speed possible, and hit the kick and snare lightly, just do it, and see what I mean. It is something that I discovered myself messing around with the Boss Dr. Groove 202. I'm telling you, try it. Your going to be amazed if the roll effect is on the other one's. I never heard or found a better effect than the roll effect on the Boss Dr. Groove 202. I absolutely love these little stand alone synth/drum machines and I can't get enough of them. Check out my channel here to see what I'm doing with just a Roland JD-XI and Electribe 2 synth/drum machine. The possibilities are endless if you put your mind to it, and study the machine itself. I use the NI Komplete 6 audio interface. is it possible to route the MPC 2000 XL with the SP 404sx and the audio interface? And if so, do you know how? 😅 Btw: fucking good video! ♥️
Sounds dope!!! Question? When you flip samples in this way where no one knows where the music or voice came from you don’t have to get the samples cleared correct? It’s not like your just taking a loop from a song and repeating it, your just taking the sound elements and playing them a different way I’m i right or wrong?
I listened to your album (listen) today on spotify and I have to say, it's the style that I like, these samples, these jazz sounds, I like that very much, I make beats myself and I wanted to ask you if you like your sounds still change something afterwards processing (Saturator, tape machine) so that this warm analog sound is created or is it sufficient that you simply take vinyl samples and that's where this warm, powerful sound comes from. I assume you only sample from vinyl right?
this is so good. how do you get the sounds to be so warm like that? is it really because it's sampled through the mpc? analog magic? a plugin you're putting on the tracks?
MPC helps but to my understanding the 2k isn't as known for its DACs and processing like the 4k and 60. The sp compressor for sure gets you there along with some tape saturation, vinyl fx, low pass and of course, sample selection. You can absolutely get there in a saw with the right plugins and know how but the mpc and sp line almost guide you into that way of thinking. Workflow and hardware restrictions take a lot of the guess work out of trying to achieve that sound
@Charles Randolph totally! I just couldn't think of a better word but what I was getting at is that locking yourself into hardware that can get those types of sounds can usually produce better results (or is at the least easier) for people who get overwhelmed with the sheer open-endedness of a DAW
This is dope. We are a team of beatmakers and producers - it would be great if you could take a listen to our tunes as well when you get a chance. Salute

Like the nostalgic video feeling feels like I’m in the 90’s watching you make fat beats
Always loved the fader and the metronome on the 2000xl. You hear it but it stays out the way.. amazing work bro

Your beats are a natural stress reliever
Great stuff, again, in my head I'm thinking "when is that bass gonna roll in?"
Just what I needed right now. Finished my college work and drinking green tea.
Damn, the swing of this beat - neck snapper
every day i question whether or not i should save up for an mpc, i watch your videos and tell myself, i don’t need to buy beer tonight. huge fan!
