      Excess choline above 3,500 mg per day has been shown to increase production of TMAO which increases your chance for heart disease.
      Best to use CDP-Choline 300 mg 2-times per day and you'll get the benefits of choline and still stay safe.

    Thanks for the infos! That was super well presented and straight to the point :) I have a question though
    The daily recommended intake for choline is 550mg but, as you explained, the choline per weight varies. I'm assuming the daily recommendation is based on the form of choline that is in food which is phosphatidylcholine. With that in mind, how much CDP-choline do you think is needed to get an equivalent? (assuming we're not getting any choline from food)

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  3 роки тому +9

      It depends on what your brain and body need. It varies from person to person.
      A general rule of thumb with Alpha GPC and CDP-Choline is 300 mg per dose. And that's done 2 or 3-times per day.
      Some may find that too much choline. But then someone like me would find it too little.

      It's why the "supplement" industry today is a multi-billion dollar industry and growing exponentially year after year. We did not have a dietary supplement industry even 50 years ago. Because we didn't need one. But today we do need one if we want to function optimally.

    My current stack.. 150MG of Armodafinil. (Mylan generic) 20MG of Noopept.. 400MG of Caffeine.. 200MG L-Theanine.. 350MG of Choline Bitartrate.. I'm new to nootropics, any advice on if this is an effective stack? Also I didn't know there were differences with Choline. Is Bitartrate not affective? I'm also wondering if the generic Armodafinil I'm taking isn't as effective as the Nuvigil brand.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  2 роки тому +2

      Nuvigil is Armodafinil. But buying anything other than the brand is a crap shoot unless you really trust the company.
      Choline Bitartrate cannot cross the blood-brain barrier and is pretty much useless as a nootropic. If you want to increase acetylcholine you need either Alpha GPC or CDP-Choline along with ALCAR and Vitamins B1 and B5.
      And your ratio of caffeine - L-Theanine is backwards. The best effect is 1:2 ration of caffeine - L-Theanine.
      Is it effective? It depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your stack.

  • @Hankyuo
    @Hankyuo 3 роки тому

    Considering choline can be derived from the phosphatidylcholine found in the cell membranes when there's no alternative, do you think the body will always be in a "limited consumption mode" if we only supplement it with phosphatidylcholine?
    In other words, will the body thrive on choline or just survive with the smallest required amount if we only give it phosphatidylcholine? Assuming no choline is received from the diet.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  3 роки тому +2

      It depends on your system's demand for choline to make acetylcholine. If your system can't get enough choline from supplemental PC then it will start raiding brain cell membranes. Better to use another choline supplement I think.

      What are you using the choline citrate for? Because it cannot cross the blood-brain barrier. As a nootropic, a far better option is Alpha GPC or CDP-Choline.

      For learning and memory the most basic stack is 500 mg L-Tyrosine twice per day, 300 mg Alpha GPC twice a day, a high quality B-Complex life the one from Life Extension, 1,000 mg DHA (Omega-3). And for you likely 100 mg Phosphatidylserine (PS) twice per day.

    Hi, I've been trying piracetam recently. In the beginning it was absolutely a great nootropic, but then after a couple of days I started feeling sleepy, falling asleep whenever I took piracetam. I tried Alpha GPC, but it felt like it would reduce sleepiness for a short time before I got sleepy again. I would try up to 600mg Alpha GPC for 1800mg piracetam, but the sleepy feeling wouldn't go away. Do you have any ideas why I am getting sleepy from piracetam? Much Obliged.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  3 роки тому

      Raqib, it sounds like you are deficient in acetylcholine. Try Piracetam with CDP-Choline and see if that works better for you.
      You don't want to overdose on a choline supplement. But Piracetam affects acetylcholine use in your brain in a major way. If it does not have enough to work with you'll either feel nothing or possibly what you are experiencing.
      If neither choline supplement helps then Piracetam is the wrong nootropic for you.
