Billy Cobham un genio musical, lo sigo desde que tenia 16 años hoy tengo 63 años. Los músicos excepcionales. Muchas gracias, desde Lima-Perú por compartir el video!!
I'm a lifelong BC fan - saw him a couple of times in London over the years. I always thought watching him go was like watching TWO drummers playing together!
The man seems to find great joy in just playing. Best drummer I have ever seen in concert. I'm an old drummer and was awe struck. He beat the hell out of those drums. Also like how his tom setup is amorphic. Not set up small to large. He has small, large and medium toms seemingly dispersed randomly. He also seems to be truly ambidextrous. No weak -strong hand. Love him.
Harvey and Steve are both Gods. Never seen Harvey live in concert but, he is my favorite drummer. He's played with everybody that is somebody and his virtuosity is unparalleled. He can adapt to any style and can support the song and also drive the hell out of the band. Steve is also one of the most recorded in history. His resume is just as impressive as Harvey's. Steve seems very solid and inventive. Love his early jazz work with Chet Baker and Art Farmer. Also his time with Paul Simon and Chick Corea is amazing. I'm 72 and have been playing for over 60 years. These guys are my heroes and I steal chops from them regularly. Stay safe. Much respect from Texas.
Wow..that was some difficult music to play! Super musicians, very good audio quality, clean and beautiful drum sounds..I like the crazy disposition of the drumset!
Nice to see this in my feed. The keys and guitars need to come down some to bring up the kit. Overall, this is a gift. Just wish the mix was more about Billy. His cymbals sound great though.
Billy has a lifetime of being at the top of his game, incredible performances all round. I saw him in London around 1973 with a young bass player Alphonso Johnson.
This really reminds me of Jazzcafe George in Arnhem, The Netherlands, that I used to go to in my teens and tweens. Small session, small crowd, great musicians, great music. Sweet... it's long gone now, there's a gym there. 1988-1990 I was there often. Chet Baker played there, but I couldn't get in. Stood outside for a bit, went home. What a nice place. Good to see the vibe is still around. Onwards, Liechtenstein !!!
I'll never forget it, I saw him at toad's place in New Haven Connecticut. He was playing a Fibes , acrylic drum kit. He was using war clubs for sticks. He was hitting the drums so hard, the whole kit was vibrating and shaking while he was playing quadrant 4.... A true beast!
CSB1: The first non-classical concert I went to was Mahavishnu Orchestra at the Felt Forum in 1972. The entire band blew me away. CSB2: Back in the mid '70s there was a hard rock band on LI who almost made the big time, named Good Rats. We used to go see them regularly at a club called My Father's Place. One night, the lead singer was a little too hammered to go on stage, so the rest of the band jammed until he got it together. Mostly rock instrumentals. Then they threw in "Stratus", and absolutely nailed it. Cool to see a band in a completely different genre show real respect for the tune.
Billy Cobham, por siempre el mejor, esperando su pasadita por Montevideo con, Stratus 50 años!! Espero que lo haga con músicos locales que los hay de muy buen nivel!!!!
Loved it. Some of the best stuff I have seen Billy do. The thing that defines his sound for me is the power in which he strikes the cymbals and his overall uncanny sense of solid attack and timing.
Nobody's playing will ever define the term "fusion drumming" like Mr. Cobham's. Love that where a ton of great musicians play this genre with strict faces, one of the genre's originator is still showing joy in every tune. Kudos for such a great sound!
Smooth playing, great band, beautiful setup of Tama, eleven years older than I'm, also Taurus, but playing much better than me, but some of his numbers I play very nicely I think, but half as good in coordination. thnx Billy and band, amazing concert.
Jono Lim of The Consouls must be a big Emilio Garcia fan - the guitar solo in Drum Solo reminded me of some of Jono's solos - *chef's kiss*. Great performance from everyone.
What a great studio concert! I grew up in the early epoch of Billy Cobham and saw him life in Munich 1978 (Spectrum), he is one of the very best drummer (incredible precision!) and Jazz fusion songwriter of the whole world, I simply take my hat off! 🤠
An odd comparison, because obviously Simon, copied Billy Cobham. That being said, and this is coming from a 63 year old drummer, I did notice a slight deficit in attack. I just don’t think he’s playing as hard as he used to. but as I grow older, he still remains my hero.
Well friend, I just read it and first off it seems an odd place for a comment of that nature! But maybe just maybe it’s Divine Providence! You see , I’ve been on the path or let’s just say I began my pilgrimage in 1996 am 58 , one month shy of 59 ! And lived most of my life for me and mine and I ! I say all this but what I really want to say is you’ve made the best choice possible you’re gonna catch hell on all sides . # 1 lose the old crowd # 2 get in the word , I recommend a book the book and it’s called Cepher and seek with you’re whole heart fellowship with Yeshua through the Ruach ha Qodesh ( Holy Spirit )
Billy is 79 years old here and still a beast !!!
Is he really ?
Totally ;) Billy is the MAN
looks amazing plays even better
😮
I was just wondering how old he was, wow!

The one and only...the incredible Billy Cobham...my very dear friend and partner in EastMania! - WATCH OUT SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been a fan of Billy Cobham since the "Spectrum" LP in the 70s!!! He's the master of his craft!!! 🥁🎶
Mee too mate, from Switzerland!
Killing it at 79... what energy and chops!!
One of the most skilled and powerful drummers ever and he's still incredible!!!!! Outstanding musicianship by everyone!!!
He changed drumming in the '70 forever.
The Cobham & Duke band was my first experience with Fusion, it blew me of my socks ❤
Respect to The Master. One of the Best in a history of Drumming .Thanks.
I'm a lifelong BC fan - saw him a couple of times in London over the years. I always thought watching him go was like watching TWO drummers playing together!
He's so amazing to watch. I love that custom bubinga snare drum! You Rock Billy.
I'm not a drummer, not even a musician, just a fusion and thrash metal listener, but I have worship Billy Cobham since I was a teenager in the 90s.
I’m no musician either, and have worshipped him since I was a teenager in the 70’s!
I saw Billy with the original Mahavishnu in 1972 complete with the Birds of Fire tour and his clear Fibes kit. I'll never forget that.

What do you think of Steve Gadd ?? Or Harvey Maison

The first song sounds like it was mixed by an intern, then it gets better.
Cool 70's fusion vibe and Billy is just killing it at almost 80 years old; WOW!
forever young billy
Billy has a lifetime of being at the top of his game, incredible performances all round. I saw him in London around 1973 with a young bass player Alphonso Johnson.
Was that the George Duke/ Billy Cobham band.
I think it was them. Yes. George Duke was amazing. Later he recorded Brazilian Love Affair. That was an amazing song.@@DionAlbers
Saw this lineup twice in London recently, what an incredible vibe.
Them cymbals 😊 wow..
this sounds incrediball fresh, like new music - no playback tracks, pure hand made music
"Hand made music" - let me remember this! 🤣👍
This really reminds me of Jazzcafe George in Arnhem, The Netherlands, that I used to go to in my teens and tweens. Small session, small crowd, great musicians, great music. Yep.. a pity it doesn't exist anymore!
Great To See Billy and the Other musicians at the top of their game. Fantastic!
☝🏼he is living legend indeed!
Vera y Garcia ! Viva Chile !
This is a brutal mix. Everything loud all the time isn’t cutting it.
Billy Cobham hasn't slowed down one of my favorite drummer's listen to all of his Cds he is a apex drummer to this day
The best drummer ever...🤩🤩🤩...!!

Bolly Cobham continua mestre como sempre. Arrebentando no timbre e nas composições. O único que não esta lendo. Monstro!
Love the phrasing and flow of the bassist
Billy has played with so many people, this has got to be one of the best lineups ever, Thank you !!
Tremendous musicianship all round. Loving the perfect bass tone, too!

That is grate !!!!!
Thanks for the control room camera view! Rolling a pair of Studer A800 tape decks, takes me back...
one of the greats
If this isn't every musicians aspiration to play when they grow up then I'm not excited to play with you.
toute notre jeunesse........ ❤

God doesn't exist. This is music made by humans. There's nothing beyond the material world.

ミニマムが素晴らしいドラミング!
一つ一つ魂が籠って丁寧!
Minimaliste ! J'espère que ce n'est qu'une erreur de traduction ! Forcément inadaptée ! For King BILLY !
Grande, GRANDISSIMO “vecchio” batteristita!!!🥰🥰🥰

El nivel de monstruosidad de Billy Cobham no puede ser sobreestimado.
Toda la banda suena excelente.
61 yrs old my older brother introduced me to solar eclipse when I was in Jr. High it was a try gift
Это не поддаётся оценке - это пронизывает тело. Это выше чувственных ощущений. Это соучастие в восприятии услышанного.
Smooth playing, great band, beautiful setup of Tama, eleven years older than I'm, also Taurus, but playing much better than me, but some of his numbers I play very nicely I think, but half as good in coordination. thnx Billy and band, amazing concert.
Bello.👑👑👑👑👑👑

Невероятно круто)
Fuckin Billy! Damn I hope I am still able to play when I get his age. Keep doin what you love.
❤
The production is amazing on these videos. Wow! Also, that’s gotta be the largest drum kit I’ve seen in this studio so far. Lol. 👍🏼
Is it me or does it sound like Billy's drum mix isn't as loud or as beefy as Simon's with Protocol 4 on these sessions?
An odd comparison, because obviously Simon, copied Billy Cobham. That being said, and this is coming from a 63 year old drummer, I did notice a slight deficit in attack. I just don’t think he’s playing as hard as he used to. but as I grow older, he still remains my hero.
Musicians get better with age.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💖💖💖🦋
The lion can still roar and hunt...
Male lions don't hunt.
