As a Street Triple owner, who loves his bike, this bike really interests me. The only thing I've missed from time to time is a bit of weather protection. I'm going to test ride one, and if it's like a Street with a fairing, I'll buy one. I'm not worried about the negative comments on the dash. The dash has everything you need to glance at so won't be a problem for me. I think the bike dash wars are making people too greedy or expectant. Most I know with fancy dashes don't use the half of what it's capable of.
I agree about the display. I have a 22 Tiger Sport 660 with the similar dash and it's great. Has all the info i need at a glance. I'm looking at the road, not playing video games.
100% agree, I have a 2024 Street triple R (US, bought it in July 2023) and I'm 100% on board with this bike. I don't get all the hate on the dash, honestly don't care either. If it is like a street with a fairing, I'm buying one as well!
I really wish Triumph would have made the fairing on the bike capable of accepting lower bars. I really don’t enjoy the ergonomics of this latest class of bikes that have high and wide bars that are basically right at your chest. I like to be able to stretch out and relax with my arms sharing some of my upper body weight. I remember when Triumph had the Sprints that were the perfect compromise between the uncomfortable crouch of the Daytona and the uncomfortable perch of the Tiger. A Sprint 800ST or RS would be awesome.
I ride a 2017 CB500x as my main mode of transportation in Florida in the US and have been looking a middleweight Adventure and Sport Tourers to upgrade to. The Yamaha Tracer 9 (base is the only model the US is getting but it has the few features I really want) is at the top of my list for a first time new bike in 2025. Seeing the Tiger Sport now as an 800 with cruise and quick shifter as standard makes me really want to see a comparison between the two!
I had a 2013 CB500X and have a Tiger 660 now. The Tiger is a lot like the CB but just more of it everywhere. The big downsides for me are more vibration (may or may not bother you) and fuel economy. The CB is a very practical bike.
I can’t understand how they have made the cruise control without a speed adjustment. My old tiger 800 had that and that was 7 years ago. Either way, looks like my next bike. This is gonna be a massive seller

The only thing this has over the hornet is a small screen and no doubt aftermarket ones will be available soon Still this looks to be a great bike and shouid sell well
Remember 955 sprint st? Full sport touringbike. Feels after 25 years the circles has gone 360. That was my first bike! wish Triumph released an exclusive RS model with better dash and full adjustable electronics like 1200RS.
Is the suspension up to snuff? Is the rear shock the same a the 660? What do you think of the suspension over all? Also how was the gearing? Was first usable? It wasn't on the 660.
I would think with the increase in HP triumph would have had to modified the sprockets and beef up the rear shock. The additional power would make the 660 rear shock drop like a dump truck. Lets' face it, These guys are just riding the bike triumph gives them for an hour. They need to take some measurements and set the suspension up properly before taking it out. I also want to know if the rear will handle full luggage and a passenger adequately. If the bike is a dump truck then after market suspicion will be needed. I added premium Nitro suspension front and rear to my 660 and it was like night and day from the stock suspension. Looking forward to taking one out. If this bike lives up to its hype then we will have a touring 765R. Lose the cat and toon the motor and you can add the "S" I have a deposit on one of the first ones to arrive in March but the jury is out until I take it through the paces with the suspension set up properly through the twisties and on the highway.
It was the one thing missing from this review - all he says is it's more powerful. I have the 660 - great bike, but the first 3 gears are a bit of a waste.
@@JerzzyJoe The traction control on the 660 makes the power delivery really smooth, so I doubt it'll be an issue with the rear shock on the 800, because of this.
How is 1st not usable on the 660? You put in 1st, and ride away... Good for ~40 mph? a low 1st gear is nice on dirt roads, gently picking your way through the ruts so you don't crush the exhaust.
I might buy one of these. I've looked at the Tiger Sport 660 recently. It seems a little too basic but very affordable. The nearest Triumph dealer is three hours away and the Yamaha dealer is 15 minutes away. And I don't really need the Tracer package. Might consider a MT-09 or XSR900 instead. I like that Triumph has given us a choice of a bright color that is more visible to the people in a 4 wheeler. I don't like black or gray bikes. They are dangerously invisible.
Nice job on the video. Was wondering what RPM you were turning at 75mph? Didn’t like 660 because the gearing was fairly low. Will there be a center stand available? Touring requires chain maintenance and the 660 Sport didn’t have one available from Triumph. This look like it puts the 900 GT off my list, but that control panel was really hard to read. All the best from Wisconsin.
ive got a mt07 wanting to upgrade to a tourer , was thinking the tracer 9 gt second hand as i cant afford a new one, then the tiger 800 maybe better looks better and cheaper buying it new ? which one would you got for chat ?
Brand new 2024 tracer GT is the same price! Has semi active suspension. Proper cruise control. Better quickshifter. Panniers, more torque. More horsepower. A good TFT dash. I would buy the Tracer GT😂
Personally I'd get the Triumph. The Tracer, as great as they are, is not a bike I would look back at when walking away, and is even worse from the side. The power difference is negligible, the Tracer is heavier, I don't need fancy cruise control as I only use it occasionally to give my right hand a break and the 800 dash has all the information I need. As for the quickshifter, most reviews are saying the Triumph one is the best.
I'm going to be getting a good test ride on one this year. I love my Z1000sx but it can be a bit of a lump, I'm sure the Tracer is great but personally I can't cope with it's looks, so that's not in the running for me.
I had the first tiger 800 which I enjoyed for 3 years. Only gripe, too top heavy. Wheeling it around the garage etc was a worry, it went over a couple of times. If this problem has been addressed I may get one.
I like the drl s are now two lights , reference the handgaurds there to small so update to larger ones for windchill , the rear brake pedal is larger so better for winter boots and it’s only about 7 kg more than the 660 sport , ps saw it in the flesh in my dealers yesterday 😊👍👍👍
I've had a 660 was great solo but was let down by suspension so hopefully this has now been sorted . But disappointed with those budget clocks if the Chinese can do full colour screens on there cheaper but just as good or better specs then come on triumph. Also it's about time the warranty period was raised 2 years is old school. Finally please bring us a proper 1050 replacement or I shall keep mine for a few years yet

oh wait... expect a call from Triumph in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... ( to explain what is there to love, you should be the only one in the whole internet). Beeline 2 offers a better screen than that.
Having ridden the Trident and the Tiger 660, the dash was the biggest issue I personally had with both bikes and it would also be the reason why I would not have this bike. It’s a bit of a pity because it sounds like a really great bike otherwise.
I think its fair to say the Versys was the first to have this style of riding. At the very least Kawi and Triumph did this at the same time and history would seem to show Kawasaki got it right since they have always sold the versys since.
It's a lovely bike, but it would've been better if they had put in a proper display. I like my Striple 765 RS display very much. This bike needs a bigger display that works with the GPS map, which is ideal for traveling.
@@joaoayala I'm not too sure actually... The 765R & RS are Triumph best seller, so it would make sense to do a touring version of it. I have try the 765RS & the 1200RS and personally prefer the 765RS for road use. I own a 675R Gen3 and I'm in love with it, even though it could be better at touring... I love it so much that I don't see the point of selling it to upgrade to the 765RS. But if Triumph made a touring version of it (same 130HP, same suspensions & same brakes caliper) - I would buy it right away.
id rather have the old street triple clocks from 2013 xD the new triumph displays are so bad i cant understand the money squabblers at triumph and their thinking.
Got my 660 in June 24 - have almost 6000 miles on it and loving it except the lack of cruise. That's with a fleet of 9 bikes. Most miles go on the Tiger and Guzzi V85TT. Great tool for the tight mountain roads in N GA, E TN, W NC. Was an absolute blast in the areas north of Asheville pre-flood, even chasing down a pair of Street Triple 765s through the Pisgah national forest.
I'm the opposite with trucks...give me clocks...2 things take a truck off the roads these day,TFT dashes and emission gubbins...why I'm thinking about going back to the States, a Western Star or a Mack Pinnacle...designed for the rough stuff...like the Suzuki TFT,simple!
To me the silhouette of Tiger Sport 660 and 800 is just wrong. Kinda like Versys 650, these bikes are too tall for that short wheelbase. Looks like a cube. The old Tiger Sport 1050 looks gorgeous from the side. Sure, bigger bike hence longer wheelbase, but it's all about proportions...
Test rode a Tiger Sport 660 a couple of years ago after reading all the positive reviews, got about 1 mile before i turned back; felt it just looked so cheap and nasty when riding it, did not like the dash and felt poor with a pillion. Went for Tracer 9GT and that feels a far better finished machine. Thought they'd have at least updated the instruments for this bike; view from behind the bars still looks cheap.
I do agree about the look of the dash, so dated, and you can’t go wrong with a Yamaha, the cp3 is now legendary. Dislike the tracers “Groucho Marx” dash also, glad it was updated last year. Good choice. What have they done to the looks of it for this year though!? 🫣😅
Great looking bike but to put a dash from 10 years ago in a brand bike is puzzling to say the least. A full TFT is undoubtedly coming but people might wait because of that.
I’m being really picky here - I hate the typeface used for “800” I’m a graphic designer, and it just doesn’t fit the bike, I reckon. It’s too large as well.
Not a step up from the 2016 Tiger Sport 1050. Triumph needs to learn to listen to their costumers and finally give them what they're asking for years: a Tiger Sport 1200 with the Speed Triple engine. 🤷🏼
Not my cup of tea these new bikes, advanture bikes in general. Had one for a few days as my Daytona was being serviced and I hated every minute of it. Where the Daytone fits me like a glove, the Tiger was like a truck, lumpy AF. Triumph should bring back the Daytona 1000/1200cc!
I have the Tiger 900 from last year - the one with the "upgraded" screen. Quite frankly it's rubbish so I wouldn't get too worked up over having less rubbish on this 800. Triumph are generally well behind on dashes and connectivity. I just bought one of the latest Car Play/Android Auto products which works well. Far better to relish the fact that they've ditched the T-plane on this one - although hopefully the suspension is up to scratch - the one area where the 900 is great.
How do you come by that information? A throttle lock wouldn't fix your speed - it would be up and down with any change in the road. Keen to know your source.
I'd love to see your source for this. Otherwise, I'm calling BS on this. Reviews stated cruise control works well. Throttle lock wouldn't hold speed, so wouldn't work well.
Ok perhaps an overstatement. Allow me to clarify. The single button is not fully functional like a traditional cruise control in that it does not have up and down arrows that enable you to control acceleration and deceleration.
@@lowriderrjw so, it's not a throttle lock. It's a cruise control. It holds your desired speed. Ok, so you can't adjust the speed, but it's still cruise control. Your statement is factually incorrect.
Perhaps MCN could do a feature on why Triumph are unable to offer a decent dash on any of their bikes. At the prices they're charging, being outclassed by RE and all the Chinese makers, at vastly lower prices and ccs, is just embarrassing. It's bad on your bike review. Totally inexcusable on the Speed Twin 1200.
No hand guards? Even in Portugal you will still get cold hands, as I have said before Triumph relies upon the British brand, because it’s competitors are a lot better
Nice bike, a good package in general with an excellent price , but the rear is very poor compared to the front, it could be better, the gear lever looks cheap, typical chinese bike, the dashboard is old looking and limited, not aceptable in these days, even the cheaper V-strom 800 RE have a better one.
I thought this was a Chinese bike from the thumbnail. Like a few CFMOTO or Zontes/Loncin, but those have better bits and pieces than this. Dissapointing from Triumph.
@grtbgf totally agree. My last service was by a local mechanic and he was amazed at the quality of my 2018 765 Street Triple. He said it was as good as any Japanese bike he'd serviced. 2 up touring with full luggage? may not be good on this bike
Depending on your size it might be a bit cramped for two. Same frame as the 660.
That yellow bike at the beginning did not start this off. It was the 1993 one. This one is obviously a good bike.
We need an RS version of it :(
We need a 1200 version of it 😆
@@joaoayala I'm not too sure actually...
A friend had the 660 and got rid after after 600 miles. See a load of them for sale with very few miles. Odd given the mega praise it got........
I was going to buy one until I rode one the 660 lacks low down power and had a noisy screen or at least that's what I found
Got my 660 in June 24 - have almost 6000 miles on it and loving it except the lack of cruise.
The dash is a big no no for me
I'm the opposite with trucks...give me clocks...2 things take a truck off the roads these day,TFT dashes and emission gubbins...why I'm thinking about going back to the States, a Western Star or a Mack Pinnacle...designed for the rough stuff...like the Suzuki TFT,simple!
It would be a lot better if it was fitted with a 1050 or bigger engine.
To me the silhouette of Tiger Sport 660 and 800 is just wrong. Kinda like Versys 650, these bikes are too tall for that short wheelbase. Looks like a cube. The old Tiger Sport 1050 looks gorgeous from the side. Sure, bigger bike hence longer wheelbase, but it's all about proportions...
it sounds good
Test rode a Tiger Sport 660 a couple of years ago after reading all the positive reviews, got about 1 mile before i turned back; felt it just looked so cheap and nasty when riding it, did not like the dash and felt poor with a pillion.
@@rsq72 ye this year looks horrible with those new directional lights under the headlight
@@rsq72 yeah, it is a bit challenging 🙈
yea because the tracer with the two screens was so beautiful 🤣..anyway, i agree that this bike should have the dash from the 765rs
Worth a look, pity about the dash.
The older model is basically the new Harley Panamerica ST but probably a fifth the price
YAMAHA TDM 850 and 900 did this well before Triumph!!!!!
They had an 18in front wheel - the reviewer does say Triumph were the 1st to do this class of bike with 17in front wheel.
The perfect bike
Great looking bike but to put a dash from 10 years ago in a brand bike is puzzling to say the least. A full TFT is undoubtedly coming but people might wait because of that.
This or the Multistrada V2?
Great looking bike massively let down by the worst looking dash of any bike on sale today. Well done Triumph 🤦♂️
Really love the bike but it's let down by it's clocks. That's enough for me to get something else
I’m being really picky here - I hate the typeface used for “800” I’m a graphic designer, and it just doesn’t fit the bike, I reckon. It’s too large as well.
It’s a British Interceptor!
I like this bike, but I'm not sure I'd pick it over a VFR.
No credit to the Buell Ulysses then?
Shame about the display😔 Probably the only drawback for me
Not a step up from the 2016 Tiger Sport 1050. Triumph needs to learn to listen to their costumers and finally give them what they're asking for years: a Tiger Sport 1200 with the Speed Triple engine. 🤷🏼
Or basically a Sprint RS or ST.
its no tracer killer
Perfect replacement for the Mk1 900
Why did they put that crap dashboard on this bike ??.
The 660 didn’t sell.
Can’t get my head around their clocks. Who is designing this crap. Seems like a cost exercise, one that I will no longer be, buying into.
Sure it’s great but that dash?
Thank you for clarifying that the 800 has a one button cruise control and is not fully functional like a traditional cruise control. Good review!
Incorrect. Its a speed sensitive cruise control that operates off the ride by wire throttle.
@@lowriderrjw so, it's not a throttle lock. It's a cruise control. It holds your desired speed. Ok, so you can't adjust the speed, but it's still cruise control. Your statement is factually incorrect.
I like everything about this bike except the dash just garbage even in the vids it's just so reflective
Factory leaking oil caps included ? Ha ha ha
You cannot turn off ' rainmode ' for all UK bikes.
Speedometr is like Nokia 3310😢
I'm dropping loads
That end can designed by a blind man, the clocks need to be binned.
This isn't a budget-priced bike, although some of the parts are distinctly budget or lacking - display, cruise control, lack of hand-guards.....
Have you ever seen a Triumph bike in up close. No chinese manufacturer comes close to build quality of a proper Triumph.
@grtbgf totally agree. My last service was by a local mechanic and he was amazed at the quality of my 2018 765 Street Triple. He said it was as good as any Japanese bike he'd serviced. Triumph quality is excellent. I see no one is mentioning braided brake lines as standard. Another little thing Triumph have done for years!
I'm sorry but this bike is as boring as the Honda NT750... Meh
Another loser from Triumph. Check back in 2 yrs and you will believe. The Yamaha Tracers will take the cake
