    My opinion is that this video is very well done. And thanks for making it and sharing it. When I spooled clamber 2, I noticed that the first 17 handle retrieves are exactly 10m and the same is alde22

    Different with the counting I said it would work🎉 where are you starting your counting every time the handle meets ya thumb bar (clutch)? Grab some ice cream next time 😅 5:30. Also the editing doesn't have to be all crazy you got the point across and informed everyone well done 👏🏽

      Hey earl! Haha honestly… I don’t feel like I have a clue as to what I was doing lol! I’m glad it made sense to you though and that my point was successfully communicated 😆. As far as counting handle retrieves I don’t think I was super accurate with that as I had a few times where there would be a tiny blow up at the end of my cast and I’d either just count it or not. The other thing is that the distances are just a rough estimate and being underreported as I used the inner spool diameter IPT to calculate the distances. I would rather underreport distances than overreport them for people out there. Haha next time I will get some ice cream 😂 it was like 100F that day… should’ve grabbed some then but I was too focused 😆. Cheers my friend!

    Nice job! Sure can imagine it's tricky filming these casting videos, filming and casting, and talking at the same time in some cases… I couldn't do it…😅 you should have an assistant who handles the camera work.

      Hey kalle! Thank you so much for the kind words! Haha I’m not sure I could ask someone else to film me fishing and talking… that might be more awkward than talking to a GoPro while fishing hahaha 😆. I’ll likely stick to this style of perspective for a while but it really does take a lot longer to edit and piece together. So many more factors involved including lack of time, lack of editing knowledge, lack of simple foresight to hit the GoPro record button 😅, and an overabundance of excuses lol. I may try to find a simpler way of including fishing footage and talking about my casting impressions but I think this was a hopefully a constructive first effort into sharing more insight into the reel. I just don’t want people to get the wrong impression that the reel is only capable of the distances I showed as casting distance is the whole combo and not just the reel itself… Anywho, thank you again for sharing your thoughts and kind words my friend! Cheers!!!

    An excellent video. I think you are doing a real service by emphasizing the numerous variables that are involved in attempti;ng to make cast testing an objective, at least semi-scientific process. Making it truly scientific ( including double blind methodology) would cost tens of thousands of dollars. I think that you have come closer to objectivity and accuracy than any other UA-camr I am aware of and are providing solid data to folks using the methodology used in this video. I also enjoyed the surprise fish catches in the vid.
    For numerous reasons, I try to avoid social media in general, and facebook in particular, but I would appreciate it if you would post a link to the Facebook BFS group you moderate.

    Thanks for video! My own record - 33.5 rotations (45 meters of #0.8 on spool) with hybrid bearings and 2.1 weight jig lure but with the the extra fast rod..i think will better with rod like teton 522 or dragon. My friend have dismantled the inductor from the spool of the tender shoot. He says it began to cast 1 gram further than the arise air and the tuned pixy. Brakes about 80%, even not maximum. Clamber can has the same tuning..but i think it is actual only for 0.5-1.5 gr. You can see the last video on this channel MixalychTV Fishing.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey Antin! 33 rotations is really good for 2.1g lure! Definitely rods and line play a role in casting distance but I am also guessing that the jig head is also making a difference. Also, keep in mind this particular lake is typically a windy location. It’s hard to isolate and remove some of those variables but I hope this gives an idea of how the reel casts. Out of curiosity, after dismantling/removing the inductor from the TS spool was your friend still able to casts the TS normally? Cheers my friend!

    • @MrAntinsk8
      @MrAntinsk8 10 місяців тому +1

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Yes. Good distance. And i think hybrids matters cause of big size of spool bearings. He is testing the reel now but on the video he casts 1.1-1.2 gr with no problem with powerful cast and 80% of max brakes...

      @@MrAntinsk8 hey Antin! Yea these reels are all starting to get to the point where they cast very similarly. I think bfs casting distances will reach diminishing returns soon if not already. With spool dimensions and specifications becoming so similar really the only factors that can affect them are brakes, line guide and tolerances imho. Very cool time to be a part of bfs fishing I think. Cheers my friend!

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  10 місяців тому

      Hey Scott! So this is why I refrained from making these casting impressions videos for so long… while I don’t doubt that your setup can outcast this the rod used, line used, lures used, environments cast at, etc are going to be different. There are just too many factors to make this type of test anything more than subjective or an extremely rough opinion. Additionally, the bmc100 should have a larger diameter spool and is meant for a higher lure weight range. I don’t think this reel was quite meant for distance. Anywho, nerdiness aside I will say the reel is quite good as is the bmc100! The bmc is an amazing value reel no doubt! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and commenting my friend and cheers!

      Hey wirin! You are absolutely correct on the model! For freshwater fishing I think currently it’s my favorite rod hands down. I use it for just about every type of lure haha. I know you’re not supposed to and really it’s designed for small minnow lure cranks but I haven’t had any real issues using it for small soft plastic lure setups as well. The lure weight rating is something like 1-8 but I find it’s actually something like 0.5g-8 with its sweet spot being around 3-5g. It is a phenomenal rod with phenomenal components, and phenomenal action. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I’d be happy to try and go into more detail. Cheers my friend!

    Lipless lures like stickbaits/pencils would be better for testing castability, reducing wind bias.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey Victor! You are likely correct in those lures being better lures to use. That being said, I unfortunately don’t use many stick baits/pencil lures. Additionally, I’m not sure there are as many variations in lure weights for those types of lures? The purpose of this test wasn’t to give an objective assessment of the reels castability as I don’t know that that is actually doable. Instead, I am just trying to give a general idea of how the reel might perform. This is the dilemma I’ve had with making these kinds of casting videos. There will always be too many variables to control to give an objective analysis… anywho, I greatly appreciate your input! If I do a pure distance casting test I will likely use a more aerodynamic style “lure” like the practice lures I have but then there’s line, rod, weather conditions and my skill that have to be accounted for as well… 😅 too many things to consider… anywho thank you again for chiming in and cheers my friend!

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL when I reviewed the Hakai I was unsure about the reel origin. At first I pointed to Banax, since Okuma used one of the company's projects for the Komodo reels. But it's very unique, I never used anything like it, in spite of having "made in China" on the box. China retaliate countries accepting products with that identification, so a lot Taiwan goods use made in China. The Formula D has a different approach in the spool. The Hakai used the exquisite Flite Spool, with the hollow steel shaft and the SUS spheres on each extremity. DTD used the common free floating, shorts shaft approach.

    How does the Clamber 2.0 stack up against the Haibo Arise Air?

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey oxy! I think both reels are quite capable but offer different experiences overall. The arise air is a carbon frame, and has imho slightly better build quality and a more advanced braking system. However, the downsides are that the carbon frame doesn’t feel as durable as the mag/al frame of the clamber 2. The other downside is that even though the AA’s braking system is quite advanced it can be a bit cumbersome to use if you are switching lure weights often. This is because the rotor is adjustable and offers a range in the strength of the brakes at each of the three settings. Imho, the AA might cast a bit better but it has some downsides compared to the simplicity of the clamber 2. It’s hard to simply recommend one over the other as everyone’s needs are different but I don’t think you can go wrong with either reel. Hope that helps and cheers!

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Perfect, thank you for both the fast answer and the info. :)
      From what I saw in reviews it always sounded like one is THE REEL TO GET, but I lacked any kind of comparison.
      Fiddly, but best caster => Arise Air
      Simple, well performing, sturdy => Clamber 2
      That's something I can work with. Guess I'll eye the Clamber for now unless something else in the priceclass drops, that blows everything out the water.
      Gonna dip my toes into BFS with a cheaper chinese reel (likely the Accura) and then see if I really wanna go for the Clamber or something JDM.

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I finally decided. Stumbled over a review of the Soloking GKA200 pro on the channel Creek Patrol (German). Seems the GKA200 is acceptable or even good down to 2-3g with the shallow spool at ca. $50.
      Since this is just me dipping my toes into BFS the GKA200 is great, as it has a higher upper limit and I could marry it to my 5-25g rod, if BFS isn't for me.
      Also with the $35 saved vs the Acura pro, I can put that towards a Clamber 2.0 if BFS actually takes me in. However, where I live in Europe, it's not too easy to find good places to use the ultralight BFS stuff like trout magnets etc., so it's questionable if this very low range of BFS is even necessary. Catch and release is basically also forbidden, so no dice going for fish you wouldn't eat just for fun.
