Adam, I am having an issue with my Ultimarc IPAC Ultimate. When I Swap into Mode3 for XINPUT the board will switch into that mode, it looks like all the button config's change in teh winpac setup but when I goto the USB Controller tester I don't get the display for the joystick, and none of the buttons light up when they're being pressed. I am not sure why that is, do u have any suggestions on what I might be able to do?
For anybody having issues with this, what you have to do is make sure you check mark shift key. ✔️ In the box. I figured this out within the website itself. I-pac shift ✅ Then you can do xinput mode. If this is not check marked. It won't work. This is on version 1.55
I have been working directly with Andy from Ultimarc for the past week. He has released a new firmware 1.55 and new WinIPAC 1.34 which allows configuration of outputs in X-Input Mode. Not sure if the firmware is live on the the site, but the newer WinIPAC build is.
Hey, I'm thankful I spotted this. I'm in the same boat in addition to being a noob... your instructions didn't pan out for me. I pressed the player 1 start button and held down the third player 1 button simultaneously and (raspberries!). Nothing. Could you point me in the right direction for assistance? Great video. It would be awesome if you did a video on how to get Pacman Battle Royale working in 4 player mode on a fullscreen with the ipac4 (if it's even possible). Would be awesome. I have an IPAC4 but haven't tested. I know there was some hacked version on how to get Battle Royale working in full screen, just haven't delved into much yet. Thanks

Are you running xinput and led blinky working? Can you configure the button layout in Launchbox. I don’t like the layout of my Xbox controller by default but if there a way change it? Or you have to use in keyboard mode for ledblinky? The iPac mini runs LEDs?
Can you do a video on an bat file or AHK script to switch between keyboard/dinput/xinput modes using WinIPAC automatically? I've been trying to come up with command line script to switch the modes of my my xtension controller based on a which emulator i'm opening in Launchbox but can't get it to work. I'm running running the latest firmware for my minipac (1.55) and latest version of WinIPAC V2 (1.36) but cannot get the modes to switch from the command line without forcing a board reconfigure. Any help would be great as then I could seamlessly switch between input modes without having manually press the buttons and wait 10 seconds.
@@ArcadeAdam understandable, I've looked all over various forums and it seems nobody has done this topic yet so whenever you get to it I think the video would do well as it would be the final piece of the puzzle in allowing traditional emulators which prefer keyboard input to work with newer emulators and pc games which work better with xinput to work seemlessly under one front end like hyperspin or launchbox.

Check mark I-pac shift key. It looks like this.... I-pac shift ✅ Then you can do the button combination to switch over to xinput. Without the checkmark, it won't work.

Hi, i've I-Pac2 1.55 already on multimode fw. tried to switch on xinput mode with 1strt + 1sw1 for more than 10 sec...but, my i-pac rests on keyboard mode. nothing happens. any suggests? (about the shift box...i've not understood if i have to check for every key....). Please assist :( ty on advance
The timing is really tricky sometimes, its more of a 11 count than a 10 count and I've found that you need to release the buttons for it to switch. I've moved away from using this method because of the inconsistency. Give the xarcade-xinput a try it is way more reliable! github.com/mikew/xarcade-xinput
Done!!! I forgot to enable 1STRT with shift box. Now...another issue. I saved Xinput mode on "Xinput.ipc" file and keyboard mode on "kbd.ipc" file. Now, if i'm on keyboard mode and from command line i write "winipac.exe xinput.ipc" it works, Ipac pass from kbd mode to xinput mode; BUT, if from xinput mode i write "winipac.exe kbd.ipc" it does nothing..it remains on xinput mode...any suggest? ty

For some reason when I change to x input mode my LED Blinky software does recognize the IPac controller. So my lights will not set according to my setting. It only returns once I go to keyboard mode. Any ideas?
I don’t know if you can set up LED Blinki in X-input mode can you? The color association setup for each key is in the LED Blinki software itself. I remember the LED Blinki software allowing you to assign keyboard keys but I don’t remember it allowing you to set up control pad schemes

@@GizmoMaltese no downsides as far as I know, only issues might be random older emulators not accepting the dual input and you would need to switch apps or switch modes

I cannot get mine to switch out of Keyboard mode. My goal is to use ipac 2 player setup with Batocera, came with an emtpy arcade unit I purchased, but Batocera does not recognize it in Keyboard mode. Any help with changing over to gamepad mode (I think I want Xinput configuration). did you ever got this to work? Actually bought a new version ipac2 as I had the older before 2015 just for the command swiching between xinput/keyboard. cant get it to work. did you solve this? Love to hear back from you bro
@@WingburenArcade yes. If the hotkey was changed at some point, that is the button that would need to be used to change the mode, versus the start button. I ended up uploading a xinput file that changed it, versus getting it to chamge manually (Andy from iPac was kind enough to email me). If want to message your email, happy to send you the file
Hey Adam! This is sort of like the Xarcades Trimode PCB. Does this firmware upgrade allow the joystick to function between a D-pad and/or analog stick like the Trimode PCb from Xarcades?

My iPac mini board stays in keyboard mode when I run the update and it gets to the firmware selection part it says no devices found i have the xtension emulator edition plus from 2017
Best guess is that your pac mini was made in 2015 but your xtension control panel was built in 2017. Sounds like you have an older board. I wonder if Andy at Ultimarc could provide us with a way to identify the new(er) compatible hardware?
Total NOOB question but here goes. I have an IPAC2 and cannot get it the second player joystick to function for the life of me. What am I doing wrong? (I am running coin ops next from a PC if this helps)
Coin ops works best with gamepad based controllers, the IPAC by default emulates a keyboard so the easiest fix is to go into mode 2 or 3 and turn the IPAC into a gamepad, mode 3 would be my preference (xinput)

Hey adam, i just received my emulation plus 2 player stick from rec room .... I was checking out the winipac v2 software and I think i may have wiped out the settings to the controller. It wont allow me to change to the different modes. and now it shows my controller on Dinput mode on the winipac v2 software. I am new to this so please excuse my ignorance. Is there a way to restore the settings that it came with it out the box?> Thanks.
I would email recroommasters support, Wayne (I think he is the owner?) is really good about helping customers out but give him a day or two to respond. He should be able to give you the original config file to upload. In the mean time, try altering the time you hold the p1 start and the p1 b1 or whatever mode you want to go back to, my system is more like 8-9 seconds and I've heard people say it takes more than 10 so keep trying!
Hello, I have a question Have you played with changing buttons in 5 usermode? I do not like the mode 3 setting for the pads, apparently in mode 5 you can set as you want. In fact, it is, but here there is a problem, so if in mode 5 I set the buttons as I want, after returning to mode 1 I have the pads set as in mode 5, at first I thought it was a bug and I set the buttons back in mode 1 under the keyboard but after returning to mode 5, the pads do not work because the keyboard is set. It looks as if modes 1 and 5 are related to each other, which makes no sense. I admit that the irritation reached the stars and I would like to set it up somehow: P PS: Is new update 1.55 ;)
Sorry I purposely avoided the different user modes because I wanted gamepad mode to be consistent ABXY button placement across all modern titles so I could get used to the locations. I don’t want to have to label them since I can light them up the proper Xbox button layout colors.

I have the xtension 4 player ultimate edition.When checking my devices it shows i have ipac 2 and mini-ipac.Which firmware should i select to update correctly?
I'm surprised they didnt use a 4-payer ipac-4, anyways it would be almost impossible to be certain without tracing wires. On the plus side that means you can upgrade both and have all 4 players show up as gamepads since all ipacs are limited to 2 gamepads only!

I have the 4 player controller as well but when I do player one start and the player 1 button 3 it only seems to switch the ipac 2 to the xbox controls and the mini ipac stays as keyboard. Hello Again now all working, i did a hard reset, i played with IPac cables and everything was back to normal, I don't know how you are doing, but in my xinput mode, changing any button ends with a program crash so it stays playing with cables but it's important that it works ;) Thank you again ;) I still have a question, do you only use Lauchbox or Hs + wireless pads, e.g. xbox360, one etc? If so, have you been able to deal with the annoying problem, so: after the game is loaded by HS, everything works but if the pad discharges, it will turn off, there is nothing else to start the game again because unfortunately the pad after turning it back on does not work, I tried to find out something on the Hs forum, unfortunately, to no avail, I don't have Premium : \
Glad you got it working! As for your controller question on hyperspin, you should be able to use gamepads and keyboard/Ipac buttons simultaneously if you set them up and turn on joystick support in hyperHQ?
@@ArcadeAdam Yes, I know, but we didn't understand each other: P The point is that the pads work but if I start the game via HS and the pad turns off, unloads after restarting, it stops working with the game and the game restarts again, the problem disappears if the pads are wired which is logical in the end they are always connected: D Have you also had a similar problem with wireless ??
@@ArcadeAdam It just irritates a bit during the game but from what I read it can be attributed to a given rainfall permanently and then the problem disappears but I don't know exactly how to do it : \
That’s normal for a few moments it reboots the board then it should prompt you for the firmware file and flashes it. Be sure to run this stuff as admin

Unfortunately IPAC4 firmware upgrade still nets just two gamepads so you would need additional controller boards to get 4 player working...

I have yet to try that but I think you need to use LEDblinky to read the game type and then have it run batch files based on the game config

That is my understanding and I tested in MK11 and it works!

Unfortunately is not possible to upgrade any I-Pac board sold before 2015... (mine is 2013) :-(
I had the same issue with my 2012 model. I just bit the bullet and bought a newer one. Much easier to deal with, so worth the $$ if you have it.
How can you check the what year your board was made?

I'm surprised they didnt use a 4-payer ipac-4, anyways it would be almost impossible to be certain without tracing wires. On the plus side that means you can upgrade both and have all 4 players show up as gamepads since all ipacs are limited to 2 gamepads only!
So i should update the mini ipac and the ipac 2 and everything should function correctly?
@@Ryan-zv3rs I am curious if you ever got this to work. I have the 4 player controller as well but when I do player one start and the player 1 button 3 it only seems to switch the ipac 2 to the xbox controls and the mini ipac stays as keyboard. Is there another button combination to use to get both switched over?
Hello Again now all working, i did a hard reset, i played with IPac cables and everything was back to normal, I don't know how you are doing, but in my xinput mode, changing any button ends with a program crash so it stays playing with cables but it's important that it works ;)

I still have a question, do you only use Lauchbox or Hs + wireless pads, e.g. xbox360, one etc?
If so, have you been able to deal with the annoying problem, so: after the game is loaded by HS, everything works but if the pad discharges, it will turn off, there is nothing else to start the game again because unfortunately the pad after turning it back on does not work, I tried to find out something on the Hs forum, unfortunately, to no avail, I don't have Premium : \
Glad you got it working! As for your controller question on hyperspin, you should be able to use gamepads and keyboard/Ipac buttons simultaneously if you set them up and turn on joystick support in hyperHQ?

The point is that the pads work but if I start the game via HS and the pad turns off, unloads after restarting, it stops working with the game and the game restarts again, the problem disappears if the pads are wired which is logical in the end they are always connected: D
Have you also had a similar problem with wireless ??
Yeah that is the nature of wireless gamepads unfortunately. They try to save power as much as possible and when they do they can mess up games.
@@ArcadeAdam It just irritates a bit during the game but from what I read it can be attributed to a given rainfall permanently and then the problem disappears but I don't know exactly how to do it : \
I get device not detected after clicking upgrade firmware
That’s normal for a few moments it reboots the board then it should prompt you for the firmware file and flashes it. Be sure to run this stuff as admin
