Hey, it's Harry Koizumi,
Pearly Shells is a great song taught to many of Hawaii's young people. It has been recorded by Don Ho, Burl Ives and Slim Whitman, to name a few. It a fun and easy song so let's take a look.
My ukulele was built by Nathan Ching AKA "Guitarsmith" Check out his Facebook page.

Thank you 😊
Keep having fun studying
Thank you very much. Seems I remember Elvis Landing on a helicopter in Hawaii for a television concert where school children or performing to the Shells of Ewa. I had this melody stuck in my head for a long time before I finally figured out what song it was.
The lyrics seem to be done in a call and response fashion. Do you speak Hawaiian? It would be great if you could give the correct pronunciation of the lyrics. Even better if you could perform it with lyrics on guitar. Maybe even get one of your students or someone to do the alternate lyrics with you. But at least I have chords to the main Melody line. Have a blessed day.
Aloha Harry, Mahalo for this, it was so much fun to learn and play! :)
Thank you 😊🤙
Harry this would be perfect for playing to my Great-Granddaughter. She is only 1 1/2 weeks old. Anyway you could share this in PDF? Thank you so much. I"m still mainly picking but working on the strumming too.
This is great, this song always reminds me of Donovan's Reef (John Wayne), the islanders sing a song with this melody. Very nice lesson, thanks again for all you contribute!
Aloha and thank you for reaching out and making my day! 🙏
Great Song
