#JeanMichelJarre #Equinoxe #Electronic
at the age of four I secretly got up in the middle of the night to listen to my father's JMJ records for hours. this was the most emotional time of my childhood - now I'm almost 50 and it's the middle of the night and I'm listening to JMJ.. it hasn't lost any of its magic XD
WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL MEMORY. YOU GENUINELY MADE ME CRY,DAMN IT.
My condolences 🥹🥲😭I just turned 50 in July and Miss my Late Dad (1954-2002)But remember many happy times growing up born in 1973 ,It's Classics like this that keep that memory alive 😢🥹🥲
ẞ
I was born in '75.
JMJ decided what kind of music i was gonna like in my life as i was heavily influenced by him.
Electronic music.
JMJ was my first touch with synth music & a fundamental inspiration for my later synth music. When I was 6 or so some friends of my parents gave us a JMJ MC they themselves didn't like but I did! I loved his chords & sounds so much til today
Mozart of the modern age, this will still be played 100 years from now as classical music in operas and churches
Agree 100%. I often compare Equnoxe to Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in GMin - in terms of it being a work of genius, not a note wasted, total perfection from beginning to end - for both!
🌍🌍🏛
Cant believe this song was made in 1978... Still sounds futuristic
I had never heard of JMJ before I visited Germany in 1982 as a Canadian Army signaller. I was introduced to Oxygene and Equinoxe by some young British Army Signals techs stationed in Germany. It was like nothing I had heard before and I was mesmerized by those albums. I bought them when I got home to Canada (they were hard to find) and realized very few people knew the music or were interested in it. Every once in a while I would introduce it to friends who were as amazed by it as I was. Every time one of these songs comes on in my car it gets cranked. Especially this one.
did you know Jean Michel Jarre comes from a family of musicians? His father Maurice Jarre was a famous film music composer, the theme and music score for Lawrence Of Arabia being one of his most famous.
Almost the same. As a US serviceman in the U.K. I saw him on television and was like who's this? Got to see him live in Germany a few years later.
😉👍🇫🇷
I know Oxygene and Equinoxe should be pronounced "Oksi-zjhen" and "Ekwinoks", but I think it always sounds better as "Oksi-jean" and "Ekwi-Noksee" just different enough to uniquely identify the albums.

Probably the best piece of music composed and arranged ever. Never gets old.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Much more better than current music!
He plays EVERY single note, sound, instrument himself. No laptop, no software, no bits and bites! Other virtuoso players have a Stradivarius violin, Steinway piano or Gibson guitar, Jarre is the virtuoso of the Arp2600, Moog 55, Eminent and so many other ANALOGUE electronic instruments. Nowadays a simple push on the enter button would start the whole show. JMJ is not very happy with the digital revolution. Nothing sounds like a Moog or an Arp2500... Respect!
There is an documentation for tv, showing JMJ explaining how they create sound loops this days. They only use the tape of an audio cassette, record the signal, cut the tape and glue it together at the right spot and turn then the "sampled tape" around a cymbal stand or something to produce a loop of the sample... Sorry for my clumsy explanations, but you must see it for your self... But the point I want to point at: This man was and is a real genius. The last live concert i see and listen was in 2017... that mean JMJ was almost 70 Years old... seventy !! Years...!! And the concert was one of the most inspiring Live-Events i ever had attend... Not to mention the virtual Concert this year...
Gibson sucks.
So very true! Jean-Michel is an artist like no others. His music blew me off my chair back in 1976 and today it still does!! Respect Jean-Michel Jarre!!
bruh moment
Please don't hold that against him. This tune sounds fine to me. You have to remember, Jean-Michel Jarre is a very very old man now so he is probably unable to learn new technology such as the 100% IBM compatible personal computer or so-called Stradivarius violin. He is doing his best, leave him alone and enjoy the music. It might not be as good as the Vengaboys but JMJ is old enough to be all their Fathers so I urge you to judge this tune in context. It was made in the olden days, think of it as you would a cave painting.
I was a kid when my mother buy cassete with him. I grow with his music from the age of 4 years. Every time i listen Jean Michel Jarre it gives me good feeling. This man is comes from the future to show us the beauty of real electronic music.
me also my friend
Totally agree
Stop with the "real electronic music" bullshit gatekeeping, fuck narrow minded folks
Very well said !!
Me too
Of all the electronic musicians out there, Jean Michel Jarre is the most outstanding performer by far. While I like electronic music of all types, I find that while I can jump tracks on other's works, I have to listen to every track of a JMJ LP or CD. His music draws you into it. You don't want it to end.
Agreed. Although Tangerine Dream is definitely another electronic music pioneer you should give a listen too. TD and JMJ both have very different methods but equally intriguing.
Ein ganz toller Sound bzw Titel was Jean Michel Jarre 1978 heraus brachte.
Brilliant, even today still sounds fresh 😁
Totally agree 👌👍
Best electronic song ever and my favorite
By the way!! He is son of the great Maurice Jarre. It's genetical legacy !!!
I would not know a synth part that matches this and I would prefer it not to be true, if I missed some part let us know.
Apaixonante
I am old now, this makes me remember my childhood,
With so nice feeling and happiness
Jesus is God 🦁 and without Him you will burn in hellfire for eternity.
I feel the same. But try to move with this music and you will feel younger again

Amazing track, the whole album is fantastic. Incredible to think it was created in the 1970's !!
Incredible is that no music like this is made nowadays
@@EddioPinaR This amazing music has inspired many artists, if you look harder you will see and hear new artists like 'Madis' and 'Kebu'. Search youtube for those artists and you will find new music like the amazing music from Jean Michel Jarre. The spirit of JMJ lives on!
An example is the latest album fom Madis here ua-cam.com/video/WxQIMdep9cI/v-deo.html
When I've heard first this song, I thought it was composed in the early 90s. Imagine my surprise when I've discovered that it was made in 1978!!
it reminds me jet fighters flying in the sky ❤
In etwas Ewigkeit
The sign of a innovator, this still sounds fresh 40 odd years later. Despite the technological advances in music this sounds better than most of the music produced today
With technological advance, more stuff becomes more available to commonfolks, and more no quality stuff appears, as technology to produce it becomes very common and available to lot of people, but not much of them ready to give some effort to polish stuff
To agree!!!😊
It seems the more technology people have to work with, the less creative they are in the modern day.
I fell in love with JMJ's music the first time I heard it. Too bad there can't be a collection of videos like this on a Blu-ray disc with surround sound. What a treat that would be!

Muzyka wszechczasów, dźwięki o przepięknej harmonii..to po prostu odlot!!!

Threedimensional music of Jean Michell Jarre, living on planet Jarre. Man of the future for the future. Space music.
Mam jeszcze taśmy magnetofonowe z tamtych lat z nagraniami ❗
Trzeba być genialnym muzykiem by tworzyć coś tak... nieziemskiego.. Kocham tę muzykę w tym wykonaniu. 🎉❗❗♥️

Arguably the best musician of the modern age..calm, soothing. Melodic, masterpieces for the ages . Love this guys music ❤
I was 8 when this came out. And now I have a studio full of analogue synths that sound just like this. 😊
One of the greatest pieces of music of all time so many different sounds hitting u all at once making your ears dance 😎
Equinoxe Pt 5 is my number 1 favourite song ever. It cured my brontophobia (fear of Thunderstorms) but because I listened to it so loud with headphones I developed tinnitus (ringing in the ears).
If you are listening to this for all centuries, you are eternal, just like this wonderful melody ...!!!
made in 1978.. the best song

🌏🌏🏛
And this glorious piece of electronic music still sounds as fresh and original today as it did then.
You just want to play this over and over again.
It is incredible that someone could make this synthesis music with so much harmony and sound quality in 1978, without computers, without presets, without midi, with almost no assistance, without past references, pure analog, cables, knobs, tapes, and creativity.
Not only, but consider that with all that stuff you listed no one else has done anything like this since. The man counts more than the technology.
Jean - Michel Jarre THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
He might be from outer space, no human could write such beautiful music...
In 1987 the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation showed the concert of Jean-Michel Jarre called Rendez-Vous Houston, which he had in 1986, but was not shown on Norwegian television until 1987 and in the evening I got to hear his music for the first time and I liked that and that evening. I became his new fan and I was 15-16 year old that time. It was a few years later, before I started buying various albums that J-M Jarre had released and my first was on cassette tape called Waiting For Cousteau from 1990, which I bought in 1990/91 and the Paris La Defense concert he had in Paris in 1990 I bought on VHS tape and it was the first concert of Jarre I bought on VHS tape and it was in 1991/92 and became my favorite ❤ From 1991 and from today I have bought various J-M Jarre cd albums, dvds, songbooks etc ❤
E5 was the sound that hooked me, sounded to me by a local friend (hacker), I could not believe the music I heard during the early 80's. Im 55 now and still fill my headphones with Jean-Michel Jarre!!
Jarre the best in the world
Absolutely brilliant superb my late wife and i just loved this in our youth and now im nearly 70 and i will say class will go on and on and on on on on on enjoy and love the music x
With this single the love to JMJ, his music and his work, started 40 years ago and will last the next 40 years as well.
Można pozytywnie odjechać przy takiej muzyce.
Giving a voice and soul to machines
This was the first track I've heard by JMJ.. About 30 years ago.. Since then I'm into his music... And it still rocks!
For me this was also the first piece I had heard from JMJ in my youth. Also via quadrophonic sound. (with 4 speakers) brilliant .....
Me too!! 30 years.

J’étais à Paris lors de son concert en 1981 à la place de la Concorde. Tout son matériel était en bas de l’obélisque, et il projetait des images géantes sur les bâtiments qui entouraient la place .INOUBLIABLE;
Masterpiece ❤
Back in the 80s this music was played before the start of the cartoon period of the Iraqi TV broadcast program, this music usually heralded a rare quiet period in every household in Baghdad as the kids set quietly watching whatever cartoon being broadcasted during the next 30 minutes or so.
Thanks for the warm memories

It is not an exaggeration to say that in my musical life, it was "Before JMJ" and "After." All amazing, all powerful, but I think my favorite of all was Chronologie. A whole new world was packed into each disc...
Uno de mis temas favoritos. Absolutamente MAGISTRAL.

This is about space travel - the whirling galaxies, flashing and new born stars, singing pulsars, and nova's explosions. It's so cool.
Damn, how's this sounding so fresh 43 years after release?
It was ahead of it's time 4 decades ago and still ahead of it's time for another 4..
Show de bola!
my eternal puzzle is why is this music SO different than any other on this planet? one observation is that this music doesn't have a real beat, but more of a pulse.. yeah, it's a masterpiece of masterpieces.
you're talking about TALENT ;)
But it has a very obvious beat carried by the drums. Classical music fits better your description.
Agreed. I've always felt the man must be a time traveler from the future. I don't even understand how someone's brain can come up with something this good and unique.
I am 75 years old. I grew up with this music, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits and Moody Blues. I think we lived in the Golden Age of Music.
When I was young, my father had CD with this music. I always will like this so much ❤❤❤❤❤ 🤩🤩🤩
I can just play the first 20 seconds over and over. I just love the intro so much.
It was this song that got me hooked to Jarre all those years ago. Still my favorite tune to this day!
As fresh today as when it was originally released. How much music can you say that about? Stunning in every aspect. Jarre is untouchable.
A rainbow trip full of hope and joy! Amazing JMJ! 💕✨
Oh yeah. One of the top classics from Equinoxe. Thank you for bringing Equinoxe, Pt. 5, Jean Michel. :D

Good new year 2024😀
At 10 secretly stealing my older cousin bedroom for hearing this (and other "synthesizer" casettes ). Wake down in bed ,closing my eyes, and feeling the real world disappearing as I entered the music, and travelling through the feelings awaken by this music...."life is great, hunger for living, family care, feeling of full protected and invulnerability, adventures hoping out there with friends, discovering myself day by day, pureness of nature (I lived in a village, with cows hens, etc),
And a really great hunger for living and great phisicall energy, and not needing to rest than a couple of hours no matter how hard were the effort....and always good humour and disworried, with transparent relationships....
Such a beautiful days....
Hours of travels by my mind on those times lighted only by this song

It feels so good to hear it again.
