Hey thanks for the clear vids! So with the bigger sprocket you should have ordered a 111 link chain plus the master or is the 112 correct plus the master? Thanks man!
112 is the stock chain size. The blue chain I installed with a bigger rear sprocket should have been 114 links including the master link, but they sent me 114 links plus a master link which is why it came out too long.
Thanks for this really pro video. Clear video where you can find all info. I was able to find info on this which was requested by the bloke Who has been fixing bikes for 40 years.
@@chadedwards5316 It looks to be the same parts diagram on the West Coast Honda site. You have to look very closely, #4 goes on the brake side, and #5 which is the asymmetrical spacer goes on the chain side. That's the way I installed them. www.westcoastmotorcycles.com.au/partFinder/fiche/honda/2014/cbr500ra/rear-wheel#next
@@EndlessMoneyPits I’ve watched your video over and over again and you can see that the flat silver spacer goes to the ABS / brake side . The black one with flailed end spacer goes to the sprocket side, by the way your video was very helpful with the torque settings and the step by step removal and installation, also replacing the chain and rivet link👍
I don't remember if I mentioned that in the video but I did buy a new chain slider and haven't installed it yet. The original one still looked mint at the time of filming this. Good to always check it.
I couldn’t decide if I should get the angle grinder or dremmel. I went with dremmel. Maybe that angle grinder works better. Good video. Haha. “Gently remove the axle.”
I didn't supply a link for a 16 tooth sprocket because I didn't use a 16 tooth sprocket, but I just found a link to one and added it to the video description for you.
Hey boss I replaced the chain and sprockets on my 2013 cbr from watching ur video and followed the steps accordingly. The everything went in to place as it should like in the video but when I rotate the rear wheel I hear a ticking sound from the front sprocket area and can’t figure out what’s up, any thoughts?
@ I’ll double check, and what would I have to do if it is just a chain noise? Because I’ve already aligned the chain several times thinking that was the problem at first.
So, if we use 41 rear and 15 front sprocket, ordering the 112 link chain with master link, do we have to remove one more link? Since that would add up to 113? Seems like a mess. Thank you.

@@EndlessMoneyPits are you still in the valley? I’ve had my cb500r for about a year now and have yet to see another in the valley. Always riding from Corvallis to Salem
No, we moved to Arkansas in November. I think I saw a couple 500r riders in the McMinnville area but never got a close look. The Willamette Valley is such a better place to ride. The traffic here is kinda intense.
I think my bike topped out around 105-108 mph with the stock sprockets. Accurate speedometer checked by GPS. The new gearing is slower but I haven't topped it out.
I show the orientation in the video when I'm cleaning them but getting everything lined up when sliding the axle through can be a little tricky if that's what you mean. Just have a little patience.
At 4:19 you have 2 collars labeled front. I must have misplaced them because I can’t find them at all. I’m just wondering if they’re for something else or if I need to order replacements.

Thank you, I'm glad you found it helpful!
Great video, the camera angles are really good, very helpful thanks!
Sometimes I wonder why I spend so much time on these videos but I'm glad people appreciate them. Thank you.
Thank you for your guides. You deserve a lot more views and subscribers, keep up your work!
It's a long road but I won't give up. Thanks again for your support!
I’ve checked the specs on west coast Honda site , I’ve got a Honda cbr 500r 2014 abs model and they say it goes that way .

Yes, that's the way I said they should go, or at least that's why I've been trying to say. Sorry for any confusion.
I searched and search for that one important comment: "Make sure any writing or logos go to the outside".
No one else mentions that. Thanks
Love all your videos mate. Very informative and helpful. Thank you for all your hard work.
Thank you! Trying to get back on track after a big move. Thanks for the support.
I have this exact model. Thank you so much for the guidance! Very clear and concise!
Glad to help! There aren't many good videos out there on these bikes.
Check the chain slider every time you replace the chain set as well. The rubber dry rots surprisingly fast

If I didn't have the angle grinder I would have tried my Dremel. Glad it worked! And thank you.
Where do i find a 16 tooth sprocket????? You offer no links for that!

Hi thank you!!! But I still can’t find a lead! Still, I love your work!!!
It's the 4th link in the video description under "LINKS". Thank you and have fun out there!
Can we clean and lube the chain and sprockets before installation?
I don't see why not, but it would be messier and harder to work with since everything will be slippery.

Look closely around that area and make sure nothing is contacting the chain. You're sure it's not just normal chain noise?
@ I’ll double check, and what would I have to do if it is just a chain noise? Because I’ve already aligned the chain several times thinking that was the problem at first.
Some noise from the chain is normal.

Removing one more link from the chain before putting it on is not easy. I wanted to ride this to a trip tomorrow. Not gonna work.

What mudguard do you have installed in the rear ? Looks nice
It's the PowerBronze rear tire hugger. I just added a link for it in the description of this video. Works great for keeping the rear shock clean.
Beautiful 500R! Have you ever taken it for a track day?
Thank you! No, I have not yet but maybe someday. The bike got a little scraped up during our move so I need to find some touch up paint if possible.

Does changing the sprocket to a bigger size make it go faster?
A bigger rear sprocket should make it accelerate faster but will have a slower top speed.
@@EndlessMoneyPits what if I only changed the from not the rear. Thinking 17t front sprocket. Looking for more top speed
Yes, a bigger front sprocket (if it fits) will give more top speed but slower acceleration.
Hi.
Can you tell me how this bike's speedometer measures top speed?
Wheel?
Gearbox?
ty
Gearbox. If measured at the wheel then my speedometer would still be correct after making this change, but it's off by about 8%
@@EndlessMoneyPits Thanks a bunch man, I wanted to know what I was in for,👍
Do you happen to know the torque specs for the gear shifter bolt when reinstalling?
I don't believe there is one (in the service manual, at least). I try to include all torque specs available in my videos.
@@EndlessMoneyPits thank you for the replying 🙂
how do i figure out which sprockets i specifically need?
What are you trying to accomplish?
How does the rear sprocket feel with the 2 extra teeth? Does it feel like longer gearing?
I honestly can't tell much of a difference in torque but my MPG dropped from 70 to 60.
@@EndlessMoneyPits no kidding 😆 i think ill stick with whats on it now. Think ill be replacing mine soon.
I plan to go back to stock or possibly longer gearing than stock once this set wears out.
Thank you man.
Does it work With a chain thats already closed? Or do you always need an open chain ?
I'm not sure I understand the question.
Good video
Thank you
Dude, did u reach 115mph with 15/43 sprocket setup?
I think my bike topped out around 105-108 mph with the stock sprockets. Accurate speedometer checked by GPS. The new gearing is slower but I haven't topped it out.
How do I reinstall install the front spacers?

Oh right, the front ones are interchangeable. Yes, if you're missing them you'll definitely need to find some replacements.
@@EndlessMoneyPits So do those front collars go on the rear axle or somewhere else?
No, I meant they are interchangeable from left to right.
What kind of stand is that?
There are links in the description for everything.
