I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS SONG.
Fuck yeah, man! Great take on it.
Josh Steffen hey can you please cover troops of doom?
I never knew Marty Friedman was a prog metal drummer
Ayush Aripirala You mean Weird Al, right?
@@cursedgeorge939 I think he actually misspelled Kenny G
You actually mean cliff burton
Same.. 😁
All of the above.
Yeah but can he play.....yeah, he probably can

@@berkefiliz3410 that's what I thought until....Bobby Jarzombek's song "School" it's fucking insane playing " fuuuuuuuuuuccccckkkkkk!!!!!!!
Real tight, but the best part about seeing you play is just how much fun you seem to have. You always look so damn happy, as if you're delighted to just sit at the drums.
Now do Ulcerate.
DO SOME FUCKING ULCERATE BOY
if you aren't having a pleasant time when playing music, what's the fucking point 😁
George Tsiros money
He’s a extreme metal drummer this will be child’s play for him man
@@vishnugiridran8847 Dance of Eternity is rated the hardest song in the entire world.
3:55 to 4:30 is one of the coolest parts I've heard on drums.
Its hard kuz you have to close your hi hats with your left foot right after you hit it
"Don't mind me I'm just gonna play one of the most technical songs ever and act as if I'm playing Seven Nation Army". Oh how I envy you :')
hardly.. but he did a good job!
It isnt one of the most techinical songs ever, theres just a lot of changes and some tricky time signatures
If you listen closely, most of the song is just fucking keyboard noodling, which is relatively easy for any pianist that knows a handful of scales.
@@Metal-Possum To be fair if anyone can play Dance of Eternity keyboard, while drumming; it would be damn impressive.
@@grant4594 AC/DC
I didn't even give a shit until you easily nailed the 7/16 part, then a flawless transition to 6/16, then easily back to 7/16. It was just so clean and fucking badass!
don't know what any of this means, but yeah, he nailed it.
@@christianmares8031 same 💀
was there ever any doubt? 😈
It's like if Mike Mangini and weird al had a baby. Love it!!!
austin netterville accurate description
Thank you
Mangini had sex with Al lol
Alastor So “Hey Al” was a song written in the first person by Mangini, and when Petrucci said no, he took it to Samus, then Samus came up with an elaborate ruse to give a fake backstory.
It's Jordan Rudess... with hair!
He used to have that kind of hair. Also reminds me of Weird Al a little.
Yes!
Jordan in 1999
Or Fabio Lione
Yeah... Feels like a scene from a memory somehow.
I love Dream Theater, i watched the auditions and you made this look easier than those other guys, flawless playing. I think you would have been a top contender for the job.
*except marco
Yosua Mokalu and mangini
Mangini is too stiff for DT....not to mention he doesn't have the ability to REALLY keep the band in check in the writing phase. MP was the DT groove machine...with the sick vocal play with JL. I like a bunch of the newer songs....but I love ALL the stuff from Majesty till MP bailed.
majesty was their old name, they were called dream theater for a long ass time with MP in them :)
Of course....and I've been a fan since seeing the Pull Me Under world premiere on Headbangers Ball. I love the whole DT catalog with MP behind the kit...and even have the infamous DT "Majesty" logo tattooed on my forearm the size of a baseball since 2005. I am a guitar player and Petrucci disciple till I'm gone from this ball.
Love how happy you are to play. Oh, and you're really good.
while i was watching this i couldn't help going "THESE RHYTHMS ARE RIDICULOUS" over and over
Damn, same thought... I don't really like DT to begin with, but I show respect wherever it's due, but in this video I'm saying "Ridiculous"' over and over :|
Jake Mcaulay the song has literally 108 time signature changes
Well done! Keep the faces. They make you look more 'real'. Plus they show off how effortless this is for you. Awesome job!
2:15.....finally someone else who does it one handed 😂
Caleb Mole Ikr hahahah
Caleb Mole right lol
I don't why but it bothers me when people do it one handed
MP doesn't even do it One Handed.. 😅
Caleb Mole derek roddy did one hand
Samus is looking a lot like Weird Al with those faces
I KNEW I WASNT THE ONLY ONE!!!
He just looks quite similar in general
jesus.... make it look so easy. Seriously man?? Brilliant!!
Making Portnoy look effortless.... damn, bro....
You make it look like it was just warm up. Epic
This song has so many time signature changes it never fails to blow my mind every time I listen to it.
I just discovered your channel. This is one of my fave DT songs. Thank you so much. :)
years later this shit is still sick af!! I remember watching this video and wishing I could comprehend what was happening...fast forward a little and I was just able to learn it :')
Fantastic job dude, love the new Decrepit Birth record!!
The excitement on your face ripping the classical portnoy fills is hilarious. I love it. Great play through
AMAZING skills....killer performance bro. You LOVE playing some Dance, it shows.
One of the best parts of the vid were the funny faces, added some character to it, nice work!
Playing all that blast makes you sail through this with no problems. Excellent!
Honestly thought I was listening to mangini's version, you killed it man!
Seen Mangini play it live twice; he fucked up both times lmao. Hung out with him after the show and he was cracking jokes about it.
Absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!
4:23 the expression you make when you accidentally farted on a date and your gf tells you that she likes it
Basically Frank Bello
Oddly specific
Like a BOSS! I honestly think your one of the best drummers on the planet...seriously!
Amazing! 100% with nice added fills
Dream Theater is my favorite band and you killed it again. Geeeeeeeeez!
Better than most of the guys did at the DT audition.
Dude! That video would have put you in their final three when they were looking for a new drummer. Truthfully, I enjoy listening and watching you more than Mangini. Take that for what it’s worth and keep the videos coming!
Fuckin' spot on! Make as many faces as you want man cause this is a brilliant rendition.
for sure you'd be a serious contender (besides faces :), spot on mate
This is great! Would be nice to see him dissect a Dream Theater song with Mike Mangini. I bet that would be incredible.
Nice!,that was a great take of that song.
You should’ve auditioned for dream theatre
Wow man. Most of your hits are dead on. Great job.
Every drummer should strive to have this much fun while playing.
The best cover for ever
don't apoligize for those faces, those faces keep me hooked, tbh. they're truly just there to support the fact your a unique structure of a one of a kind individual, don't apolized for that! you drum-god scoundrel!
Neat and clean, he played it better than many.
Que arte tio! Un poco mas y se te cae el ojo derecho encima de la caja de la bateria jajajaj...GREAT GREAT GREAT!!! FUERZAAAAAAAAA MOTHEFOOOKE
That ragtime part is the best part of the song IMO. Just completely different from the rest of the song yet it fits perfectly
Awesome job bro
You have the best drum sound on UA-cam
I love dream theater. You've got a new subscriber because of this.
For everyone that's trashing the drummers that took the audition, no guy is better than the other, all of them could record this song one take no problem, but when you are doing it with the actual band one take, of course anyone could have mistakes, well if i had to say, even marco minneman who was one of the choices missed a swing, one thing to consider is the atmosphere, comfort and such. Which makes it more difficult than it actually is. The band didn't even give them a second try for each song, just one way through. That is because they are certain that those guys could play it for sure, they just want to listen to how the guys would interpret the old music. it's the style, chemistry, and spontaneity that they are looking for, that's why they are spending more time in the jam sessions trying new songs. Anyway, Samus did a great job here but please don't trash those other drummers. You might wanna check their works first before saying anything. All those drummers are outworldly.
Tocas muy bien!!! Y tienes una actitud muy buena saludos!
8 years ago and already impressive
Those Pearls sound awesome dude.
perfecto ,increible ,te admiro un abrazo amigo !
this video really helps me going through covid 19 tragedy
This is the song that was used for the “DREAM THEATER” auditions a few years back-- SAMUS-- you should have been invited!!!!!!! COLLEGE HOMEWORK-- to study for this piece!!!!
Back before the triggers took over lol great cover!
Some Mangini and Portnoy expressions Hahaha... You kicked ass 66Samus!! Oh Yurrrrrr!!! Fack!! You did that with relative ease. What song is the most difficult in your opinion that you've ever played?
fact is he isn't even trying and still crushing it
Great job!!
CRAZY stuff !!
Great cover! Lovely hair!
Great job!
This is a great Dream Theater tune🤘🏻
진짜 멋있네요! GOOD
amazing man! Congrats. \m/
That took less focus than Mangini - you slayed it
Great job, thanks!!
Amazing
Monstruous!
Nice 1 dude!
Hey man that was amazing! I'm not sure if the song I'm going to suggest is really hard to play but I would like to see you cover The Endurance by Deeds of Flesh.
that would be sick!
Tout simplement excellent ! 😀
Saw Decrepit Birth in Seattle with Origin and Cattle D. Soundchecked with 6:00, made my fucking night.
Dude I clicked so fast on this one :D fuck yeah Dance of Eternity, what an icon of a song!
LOL @ 1:35, it looks like you were fearing that part as you messed it up the first time :D
whaaaat that was amazing!!!!
killed it dude
so super cover bro 🤘😊🤘
This song is just warm-up to him for BLAST!!!
this song is the best explanation i could give someone of what taking triple C is like
Holy shit this is clean
Very good
1:24 haha, I always enjoy your dance of happiness there
lovely! congrats! \m/
one of my favorite covers of this song. have you ever considered covering between the buried and me?
Simplesmente perfeito. Nota a nota...
Awesome!
damn thats a really good cover
This dude is awesome. Reminds me a lot of Joeyjunior15 a few years ago. Stupid fast and good, but was such a goofball at the same time
You and Devin are a fucking pair. You make funny faces when you perform just as he does lol.
Samus Portnocelli.
Seeing this I wonder if it hadnt been a better idea if they had taken an aspiring young gun instead of a big shot drummer
They didn't want someone who could just play their songs.. They wanted someone who could relate to the writing process and that man was mike mangini.
+NathanDrums you mean the souless robot?
+Emile Locas I don't see him as soulless at all. The man is a musical genius, sure he doesn't move but drumming isn't about Headbanging or jumping out of your seat. (Although he has some rather funny facial expressions) but anyways. Mangini is has some incredible drumming skills. He's the reason why I can blast beat so well, actually has the pleasure of meeting him twice, and got a 15 minute lesson from him! If you say he has no groove you're dead wrong. Your mind just Can't see that far.. I used to be an avid hater of MM until I matured musically and realized that playing hard wasn't everything.
NathanDrums dude, he is one of the best drummer technically and sure he can groove, but he plays with no emotion, i dont need to see him moving or whatever. I didnt know MP left the band when first listening to their self titled album and I told my firend that MP lost all his feels and soul. but wasnt him. I guess he fits the technical aspect of dream theater and I will concede he is one of the best drummer out there. his playing doesnt hit home with me at all tho
MP would be proud duder
Insanity. Well done.
yeah, great one
Dude you're an amazing drummer. Fuck you are talented!!!
Haha, my band played with Decrepit Birth a few times, too bad it was before Samus joined the band, would of thrown a big "oh yurr" at em lol
more of this
66 samus = the beast..great job
Jordan rudess drumming
