I love how positive this video is- you’re sharing real tips, but you’re focused on building community over sheer numbers. People stay for real connection
Thanks for this:) im 11 and i do digital art and post on insta, whenever i post, my posts only get 0-4 likes. It gets really discouraged to the point i think about just stoping drawing all together. This is really inspiring tho, thank you Edit: after i used these tips i gained almost 30 followers within 2 days, all my recent posts have gotten more attention aswell:D thank you Edit again: i have around 120 followers now!!
That's so wonderful to hear these tips helped you to get some results! You certainly don't need likes and followers to enjoy drawing though, keep practising and drawing things you like and that's the most important thing 😊
Dear Lumity, thank you for sharing your story. Please try to take this with the best attitude: social media isn't the real world and it is not a measurement of your worth, your talent, your influence over others, or anything like that. "Doing art for art's sake" is what 90% or more of people do in this world. Making a living from it IS possible...but I'm 41 years old and just starting to take it seriously. Try and see things from a different point of view. You're 11. Do what you do for FUN and make *real* friends in the *real* world. You can worry about "gaining followers" in a couple years after you see how much you like to digital art for the joy of it.
I love when illustrators share their tips to succeeding in the online space! I noticed you started your UA-cam channel about a year ago and I was wondering if you find it worthwhile to make videos and share them on UA-cam? Especially since you’re already juggling a patreon following as well, that’s a lot of content to be making! Thanks for the helpful video!
You're absolutely right, it's a lot of content to make! I do find it worthwhile but sharing my journey and skills is part of why I started in the first place so having that purpose behind my content helps a lot. I'm also lucky enough to have the time to commit to it and the help of my partner who does a lot of my video content as he's also a creative 😊
Thank you...this humbled me a lot. I was so caught up in my follower count when I uninstalled Instagram that I didn't even take a moment to think about all my beloved mutuals. I'm still hesitant about returning since it was addicting scrolling for hours on end, but I really do miss the little 10-person community I had built. I'll go back someday, but for now I'm gonna hone my art skills. I want to set myself up for success when I return, not keep posting every 2 months like I had been doing
This was probably the best and most positive video I've seen on this subject! I tend to have big lapses in creativity and very high standards for myself so I really find it difficult to stay consistent by doing something smaller/low effort. I feel a little intimidated to go back to social media because of it...
I can totally understand that! We're often our own harshest critics, if you're just on social media to share a little bit of what you do and aren't fussed about building an audience then consistency doesn't matter, but if you wanted to build an audience perhaps you could challenge yourself to share progress stages of what you're doing to build the habit of being consistent while still maintaining the style you like for your art 💕
You can tell this video took a lot of time, a lot of love & a lot of effort. Thank you for putting in the work to share your journey; my reach has been almost non-existent but watching this has been truly what I've needed today. It's been so lovely watching you grow over on Instagram & I really appreciate you making such a lovely video. The highlight was definitely the gorgeous doggies though ;) Take care!
Oh this is such a wonderful comment and so encouraging, it takes a lot of time to make these videos but hearing your feedback makes it so worthwhile! Thank you so much! 💕
Thanks for sharing your journey! I love that this proves that it's ok to take breaks for holidays, time off, vacation, whatever and that your progress won't come crashing down. Consistency is important, but so are breaks :)
Oh my gosh, your filming is so aesthetic and gorgeous! Everything about this video is so organized and you can really see the work put into production. Don't even need to see the rest of your channel to sub haha. Lovely tips also, these are real honest long-term growth strategies, rather than tips and tricks for blowing up overnight like a lot of other vids talk about. The goal should always be to build a positive community💖
Even though this was about art, this was a really valuable lesson to learn. I am humbled as a content creator myself to see your own journey and compare it to my own. The goals in the beginning of this video were amazing ones to have, and were the reasons I kept watching. Thank you for this
thank you so much for all the positivity, helpfulness and encouragement in this video 🥰💜 due to the war here in Ukraine, I've abandoned my previous art account (it was pretty small anyway) - I wanted a new beginning, a new freedom and I wanted to take my goal of making art a career more seriously. that's why I created a new account in January of this year and I'm steadily growing at my own pace. thank you for this wonderful video, it's so encouraging and inspirational to see your journey and to hear about your experience 💜
Seriously love how you've shown your real progress and that it works differently for everybody! Love your confidence in your work and how encouraging you are!
This is so informative and helpful. Thank you! I'm really glad that you set an example where it's not exactly every SINGLE day that you post. I appreciate how realistic and healthy it is cus you still allow some breaks for yourself
This is sooooo helpful thank you so much! It's so discouraging to be stuck at less than 100 followers for ages but you're right I just need to keep going!
My wife is following you on instagram. She is also artist and she started IG journey several months ago. It has been a slow growth for her, but she is not discouraged as her main focus is not numbers like you said but simply sharing her art journey.

Actually I was happy that my account was growing a little when my hashtag reach started increasing but it stopped as the reach of every post started decreasing and was a bit disappointed. This was such a lovely video! Helpful and so positive! How much time per day would you say your spend making content and participating in the community? Has that changed since you first started? What is something you struggled with in the beginning but don't now?
Hi Rebecca! I definitely spend more time now participating in the community just because I get a lot more comments and messages, some days I spend 4 hours creating and some days I spend 12 hours creating, it really just depends how creative I'm feeling. I put in full-time hours though including all the engaging and drawing and video making. I used to worry that if I got too many followers I'd get negative comments but so far that hasn't happened and the community has been so lovely and supportive!
Thank u sooooo much Mimi, this video really give me the hope i need to not stop! You are an incredible artist and an even more incredible person! Because in your heart u are not only doing what u like but also sharing that with others and that is sooo awesome! Thank u sooo sooo much! And keep the great work!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I always wanted to have an art career and the fears you mentioned above are stopping. It is not an easy feat but knowing that someone went through there and get out of it victorious in battling the fears that I too, am facing, is encouraging. It inspires me to continue and to never stop believing while doing something. Thank you sooo much.
I appreciate this video- thank you it's been fantastic listening about your success- I can listen to u all day and not be borred- just inspired. Gives us allot of hope- keep going my Art friend. God bless you and your 4 legged friends. PEACE from England UK
Thank you very much for sharing! The problem I see with my works is that my pieces take a lot of time (realistic pencil drawings/aquarelle/oil paintings) so I could not effort five times a week...so I wonder how it works for such kinda art when it comes to algorithm and stuff.
Yes I totally think it's more difficult to post regularly when your work is realistic and takes a lot of time to create, I've seen some artists post quite a few behind the scenes photos of different stages of their work or parts of the process as they work on it so that they get a few pieces of content from the one finished piece (and I really like seeing the different stages too!). 😊
Comparison is the easiest way to kill your morale, I'm increasing my consistency yo 4 times a week from twice and I'm genuinely enjoying the time I'm spending

What I liked about this video: The content.

I love all of your videos! They are so well done! I'm definitely looking forward to the next one! :)
Glad you like them! ❤
Hopefully !!! Aww Amazing share. Joined your awesome Channel thank you for sharing 👍
Thank you for hearting my comment beautiful sister ❤️👍
Comparison is the easiest way to kill your morale, I'm increasing my consistency yo 4 times a week from twice and I'm genuinely enjoying the time I'm spending

@@MimimooIllustration No worries! 💕 Can't wait to see your art journey and continual growth 🌱 I actually thought of a question, I was wondering if you've experimented with different posting times or had any tips regarding them? Any information I've found online is all American timezone related. So I thought hearing from another Australian artist might be more relevant!
This was super helpful, thank you!
I can see where i need to make tweaks to do better and provide more value.
