  • This week's sermon from now Bishop William D. Byrne speaks to the Ascension. He recalls a childhood memory of perceived abandonment and compares that to how the apostles must've felt when Jesus ascended. However Jesus did not abandon us, He built the bridge between Heaven and Earth, He empowers us. Let this lesson of empowerment show in our daily interactions, responses, and lives as we carry this message into our Life After Sunday.

I too remember my first day of kindergarten, September 1958. I’d been looking forward to it for weeks. I got there, only to find other kids screaming and crying and clutching their mothers’ legs. I vividly recall sitting there and thinking, “Why are they crying? Didn’t they know they were coming here?”

A prayer that used to be in every Mass, "O God, Who established the nature of man in wondrous dignity, and still more admirably restored it, grant that by the mystery signified in the mingling of this water and wine, may we come to share in His Divinity, who humbled himself to share in our humanity, Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen."

@@charliedoherty5965 Praise be Jesus Christ indeed! I have wondered though, how many problems, divisions, interpretations, translations, would have never taken root had Jesus, our Lor4d and Saviour stayed around to run His church. Insted, He left it all in the hands of fallible, ignorant , biased, power-hungry people to steer it through and into the future. Holy Spirit, pray help our leaders and us to follow Your will!

Yes . He is truly alive in the Holy Eucharist and in the Tabernacle....for that reason , we can not receive Holy Eucharist in a state of mortal sin . We will go to hell....and hell.., is eternal.....I worry about my soul and the souls of all the faithful in the Catholic church in all the world ....let us make it our mission to pray for our souls so we can one day ,, be with our Lord and our loved ones in heaven ❤️...sending love and light ...out of Africa .
