I think Emma will see and experience more of this world in a year of sailing than most people will ever see in their lifetime. She will have the most unique story to tell and experience to shared.
We have resorted to rewatching old videos! Can you say addicted? Haha! We wouldn't have found your bread recipe if we hadn't done so. You guys DO DESERVE THIS! You've worked so hard, planned, saved, and raised a little girl into a little young lady! This is going to be so epic! Also, gotta say that we love your boat the most out of all the cats we've seen on any channel out here. It's gorgeous! Not only gorgeous, but the craftsmanship that has gone into this is second to none! Hat's off guys!!!
Congratulations to the 3 of you. We know exactly what you're going through. Linda & I did it in 2004. Getting your boat ready for long distance cruising is a monumental job. But, all worth it. Hope to see you here in Mexico over the next few years. Live your dream, don't dream your life.
I have a confession to make, I love your channel, I love your family dynamics, I love your work ethics and planning. I wish I could of had that growing up. My great desire is you all "Live Long and Prosper" Remember "Man cannot discover oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore". So go and be brave.
We are so glad you found our channel as well. This has been a 10 year rebuild so lots of projects you can watch. We are about to take this to the high seas and be working on projects as we sail this big beautiful planet. Cheers!
What a wonderful couple and family! Thank you for sharing your story. The quality of your construction videos is amazing. You are setting an example for doing things the right way. Keep it up and keep the channel growing! Thanks!
What a wonderful expression of your family - You are a gifted craftsman with a beautiful family. Your daughter's life will be so much beyond anything a "normal" school child could comprehend. She will be blessed
I'm not too worried. I know she is going to meet so many people and other cruising kids as we travel. I'm just running all the things through my mind out loud. Just ignore my ramblings. Lol 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Never second guess yourself when it comes to taking your daughter out into the World. Your are opening a new World for her. Teachings and memories for the rest of her life.
We aren't really too concerned. On our last trip, we met some of the most interesting, engaging and smart kids out their cruising with their families and feel so lucky we get to do this with Emma.
@@linhgobenyt Exactly, how many of our children get to do this 2 or 3 % of the population? Life experience. PS: I finally found someone more OCD than I am..Love your video's. Always look forward to seeing them.
Your family day video showed up at a very opportune moment. I've shed many tears watching Emma while missing my daughter. It was a very messy divorce and I've been reaching out to and missing my daughter for 30 years. She just called me a couple of days ago. She wants to get together and it turns out I'm a grandpa times 3. Two granddaughters and a grandson. Now when Emma makes me cry they might be tears of joy. All the best to the Basik clan. Thank you for sharing all the intimate moments.
That is great news Kevin! We are so happy to hear from you and to find out that you're a grandpa 3x over is awesome! Wishing you the best and many thanks for watching our adventure unfold. Cheers!
Teal, you do incredible work guy and Linh you have made an incredible family. And I bet the shoe thing doesn't happen! hehe, Can't wait to see the family out sailing!
Teal's a pretty amazing guy and Emma and I are super lucky girls. The shoes will be going into storage, believe me.....I may keep a few onboard 🤫, but no real use for them once we set sail in a few months. 😉⛵⚓⛵🗺💃🏻💃🏻
Congrats ... yes, it is pretty overwhelming but you guys have everything you need to get over any of the hurdles you will face ... plus you have each other !!! 🤠
Saw you guys at the show! Didn’t want to disturb you all and now I’m really glad I didn’t what with your family day and all! We chartered a Nauitech 40 last year in the BVIs. Was super disappointed in the speed but I guess it was a bit neutered being a charter cat and all. Congratulations you guys! We did a year in Mexico on our boat with my two kids. Love the channel. And I agree with Emma, your boat is much cooler than those other boats!
HUGE step forward, congrats to you Linh ( I noticed the look of fear in your eyes ) but all it is is a change to go forward. Not long now and you will all be mobile. Stay safe and keep having fun.
Thanks Glen. I think its more of a shock, but we are so sure this is going to be an adventure and an experience of a lifetime for this crew! Thanks for your words of encouragement!
You are a special kinda guy!!! Patients, meticulous, knowledgeable and just flat talented. I am a gear head. Mechanics background. But have NEVER had patience at all. I really want to learn to not rush-and get it done as well. Any thoughts-words-help would be a god send. Great job... and thank you. Lone watching you work!!!
To me, life is not a race...you need to slow down sometimes to appreciate the details. Don't get me wrong, I know when it's time to hussle through a project but there is something different for me when I work on SV basik. This boat is special to us and I want to give her the time and respect she deserves.
So happy for you all. What a gift to give your lovely daughter. The gift of time shared and adventure. All your lives will be enriched by the experiences you will have. Can’t wait to join you all for the journey.
I am binge watching your videos, and I spit my coffee when you guys said 6 weeks with that list of things to do. Put one a one in front of that number. 16 weeks more likely... But great to watch no matter what. I love your little family and your boat. Wow...
Congratulations guys! Especially to you Linh! That's super exciting! I have been following you guys from the start and love every episode....they are awesome and super inspiring!
Thanks SN! We're pretty excited too. Can't stop smiling and dancing onboard. Lol looking forward to more adventures on the water and out to see! Thanks for coming along for the ride!
I wish you guys well. In my opinion, I think it's going to be difficult on your daughter. I think she's the key issue on your venture! I know the two of you know this. Amazing and talented family. Love watching you guys, and will be a patron when you set sail....:)
Thanks Mark. I do think Emma is going to get so much out of this. On our last trip, Teal and I met some of the most well rounded, smart, engaging kids cruising out there with their families. This will only open her mind to so many other possibilities she wouldn't get in a classroom. Thanks for following along on our adventures! Cheers!
We spent some time in the Delta on our last boat and still have many really good friends there. We will definitely spend a bit of time exploring and catching up on our way south.
Thanks for following. This crew is so excited for this next chapter. I am still trying to process it, but feeling so positive and motivated by you guys and your support. Stick with us to see more adventures of SV basik! Cheers! XO
Linh, thank you so much for your reply. Until now I didn’t know that Teal had a business and an income as well. With the loss of two incomes I can appreciate your concerns about the future especially where Emma is concerned. You two are smarter than the average bear and I truly believe you guys will overcome any obstacles. Life is most definitely a series of gambles and my bet is on you. Good luck 🍀.
Happy all over for ya! Its really a great idea to free up Teal to get the big jobs done. Have you looked at other families sailing the world? The Zatara homes schools and arranges play dates for their kids.....Emma will be the biggest beneficiary of a world tour......really the highest degree she could earn.
Welcome to the world of being unemployed , it’s great at the beginning but after 10 years it’s boring. Luckily for you your home will be a perfect distraction , taking it and your family around the world 🌍 (hopefully/maybe). Good luck Linh, can’t wait to see your future. Thanks Brett! We don't really see it as unemployed since we are always creating and working on something. Super excited for this next chapter. Thanks for following along with us! 🙌🏻🙌🏻⛵⚓🗺💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
From what I've noticed....this cruising life will be good for Emma and her family, Although she is already a well adjusted young lady, Cruising kids learn far more and they tend to be more mature than those stuck in a school environment classroom. If you watch the kids in the first few episodes of Sailing Zatara for example and then watch their last episode, you will find a large difference in their mood and maturity....they seem so much happier now. I have looked at several catamarans and with all of the awesome changes to your vessel, I would happily take yours. I hope you three will have a wonderful time cruising wonderful planet together!!!
Thanks Ed! We couldn't agree more. Emma is going to love cruising and this lifestyle is only going to enrich her in every aspect. We are so excited to show her what this world has to offer her. 🗺🗺⛵⛵⚓⚓🙌🏻🙌🏻

Sorry Teal .. based on my vast non-existent legal knowledge .. the hat belongs to Emma .. possession in 9 tenths of something .. lol :-) Congratulations on taking the next step .. we can't wait to see the future of this channel and your sailing trips.
Major milestone achieved. You three are living other peoples dreams. Closer to casting off the lines. Put Emma in charge of navigation it would be a good learning experience. She could hop on the internet and find places to go and what to see when you get there. We are all ready to start the trip.

Jumping off a cliff is always scary. But you jump because you know what's behind you. It's the unknown that makes life exciting. Ten years from now, when you see the person that Emma becomes you will know you did the right thing and she will thank you for the experiences that you are about to share with her.
Congratulations on your new path. I heard that boat usa is good and that you need to double check that everything that is covered is also away from being docked. all will be fine. don't go overboard on the list arrrr kidding : ) peace 6wks ha ha ha
Brava Linh! now you must start a long rehab and downshiftyng, less control and more hippie mood everything will be fine for a such strong and lovely fam don't worry
Congrats Linh on the next step to complete FREEDOM! :) Wish you guys all the best! See you soon in the Bahamas! We going to be installing our new flooring soon & Teal you make it look so darn easy! Hopefully it goes that way for us as well!

Oh the dream of making it without that day job! Hopefully, I'll reach that point one day and while still healthy. Best wishes!
Teal, you did a beautiful and very intelligent job of the flooring. Love it, man! =)
What an incredible workmanship! Thank you for sharing.

Can I recommend one planning tool? Microsoft Project and using Gantt charts! You can plan out each task and estimate completion time, etc., etc. It beats post-it notes and you can manage everything top to bottom. Love the videos, I'm excited to see you working as a team.
Congratulations on a job well done. You guys are living the dream of many people. We all look forward to when you take it to the next level.
I have a request for me (and I expect, many other DIY'ers.) I am hoping you could create a video explaining in great detail your method of building with nida core, or glassing over wood or existing glass, questions like:
- what thicknesses of nida-core to use for which application?
- do you glass one side first then the other before installing?
- do you filet it in place first before glassing?
- what type of glass mat do you use first, second, etc, over the nida-core?
- how much glass fabric (layers) do you use?
- what type of glass fabric do you use in what application; strand, weave, etc.?
- does the amount of mat depend on the structural integrity you are trying to create?
- is glassing both sides the same amount important?
- do you prefer epoxy over polyester resin and if so, why?
- what techniques should we be aware of to improve results?
- what equipment is necessary?
- is using paper bowls and paper plates better in keeping the chemical reaction heat down?
- do the handy wipes really make it easier to clean up after using epoxy?
I know I am asking an abundance of questions which is why It would be so great if you could make a video simply about fiberglassing, perhaps covering some of the points I have asked plus whatever you feel is important. I ask this of you because your work quality is outstanding and I am sure the envy of most of us watching.

Love this page.. Hope you all do a trip to SE Asia.. love to meet up. Thailand is home for me.
I was in Seattle for KubeCon in December and ate dinner at Ivars every night (clam chowder and salmon!) so I don't blame them one bit!
Congratulation guys. Next step on its way! BTW, Lady Africa mentioned you today. Very complimentary of your work. GOD bless you guys. JC
Congrats guys, excited for you.
Looks like you will achieve a 75 lb. weight savings just getting rid of Linh's dress shoes alone ;-)
Lol, don't forget my work clothes as well! I am so excited to pack it all up and off our boat. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Nice one guys,full steam ahead.
