Wow, that's a lot of stuff you're packing. Personally I would leave some of the items behind or bring different things: -Instead of bringing 3 bags + a clutch I usually pack a small crossbody bag (should be practical enough for everyday wear but still cute enough for going out) and a tote bag for bigger items. - The only utensil I would bring is a plastic spoon. You can always use the swiss army knife (or your teeth ;-)) instead of the knife and your fingers or a tooth pick instead of a fork. -The uncuttable cord for securing your backpack is kind of useless because thieves can just cut open your backpack to get to your stuff. -Concentrated travel detergent is more space efficient than normal powder. -Those wedges take up a lot of space and are probably heavy; low-heeled pumps might be a better choice. I also recommend changing them out for booties (comfortable!! ones, think low block heel) for the colder countries in Europe as you can wear them during the day and for going out. - Bring only one pair of sunglasses and one adapter. You can always buy more at your destination if needed - Hair straightener and blow driers aren't really necessary. Try finding ways to style your hair without them before leaving for your trip This isn't meant as criticism btw. Just some advice for other viewers who get back pain easily :)
Yeah I also think it probably defeated the purpose of the video to mix up what to pack for Europe vs. South Asia all in one go. It kinda just showed a hole bunch of stuff what you might want to pack but did not give an idea of how much you can actually bring with you with just one backpack. If I wanted to just see what I want to bring I look at my entire closet lol the cutting down to the minimum is where it gets more tricky! As someone who hasn´t travelle only with carry-on for a long period of time and overstepping seasons, I like to start packing 2 weaks ahead. This way I had the chance to add some stuff that I remembered I would need and just put it on top of my bag to just double check a last time 2 days or so before I leave and again cluster out what has to go for my new picked items to fit in :)
Yeah I probably would only do 1pr short shorts Europe or SE Asia - in my experience it's mostly best to keep those knees covered, a lot of cultures find knees offensive 😉 (not culturally appropriate to show them), better to do a knee length skirt or 2 and a pr cargo pants. But yeah too much stuff - clothes, travel documents (seriously we have cloud+email backups to document apps on phone these days-leave the hard copies with family/friends if you REALLY need that),hairdryer etc???,makeup, SHOES et al
I have this weird obsession with packing videos. I looooove watching them! Lately I've become obsessed with trying to make sure I only pack a carry on so I don't have to go through that extra step of waiting at the conveyer belt/airline losing my luggage.
I’m on that too! I made the rookie mistake of buying a backpack that has a rigid back that doesn’t collapse to fit in carry on. So now I have to decide - get rid of this amazing backpack in favour of a smaller one (YIKES), or continue to check it
level up: try packing for european budget airlines which allow 40x30x20cm bags otherwise you have to pay (costs can probably double the price of the flight if you take more than 2 checked bags)
Before I watch the full vid...those who buy Osprey packs, REMEMBER TO REGISTER THEM! You can get them fixed/replaced if they break as long as you're using it for what you've told them (when you register you tick activity boxes that apply to what you will use your bag for, for example hiking, travel etc). :)
just personal preferences, but I think this is more of a luxury packing video. I'm going to backpack through Europe this summer and I would pack a lot lighter than you do now.
I found this video super helpful! I watched so many reviews of minimalist packing and bought a Farpoint 40. When it came in the mail I was like OMG! What about my wedge heels for clubs, makeup, purse options? Everyone can't go that light, especially when going to multiple places with diverse interest and wanting to look put together at times. I don't want Instagram pics wearing the same oufit at every monument over the course of a year, not my style. This is the only video where I could see everything I would pack for every occasion get in there. Everyone can't backpack the same, so to everyone saying this is too much stuff whatever, it's a great start. Thanks so much, going to get the Osprey 70 for my 1 year around the world adventure.
Hi Nadine! My name is Sarah and I am an American UA-camr living in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I am a new subscriber also and I have been enjoying your videos so far! I absolutely LOVE packing! Even if it's just for a short trip, it is so fun for me! Usually I'll start a packing list a few weeks or even a few months in advance if it's a really big trip hahaha!
This makes me so excited for my 3 month trip to Germany at the end of the year, especially because I booked my tickets this morning! Thanks for posting this, it will definitely be helpful when I start packing :D
I'm confused. Why do you generalise Europe and South East Asia? There are cities in both places and there are more beach or off the beaten track areas in both places. Travellers pack for the type of holiday they are going on (subject to the weather) not just the country/continent they are going to.
Hey Nadine I love all your videos! I stick to white /light colours as much as poss when backpacking n SE Asia because of MOSQUITOES!! They are less attracted to light colours! If youve had a mosquito related illness you have to take all the precautions. its a pain washing and wearing thin long sleeves but rather be safe than sorry. Depends whether its wet/dry season and where exactly you are but Ive watched mosquitoes racing for those dark/bright colours!
I love that you have that cable to secure a bag somewhere. That is super smart! I would offer a suggestion. Soap nuts instead of laundry powder. They are safe for sensitive skin, and unlike liquid or powder, cannot be “spilled”. They last a really long time, have a nice, mild scent, and are super easy to use. Also, when they’re no good any more, they are natural compostable, and can just be tossed in a garden or in with any compostable material, and are not harmful to animals. Or just throw them away. I use them for all my laundry and I love them!
So helpful! I get so anxious thinking about trying to fit all my stuff into a bag smaller than my 60L, so I appreciate that your list is more realistic!
I know people will say you do video repeats but theyre wrong, each video is detailed in different ways, ive watched three packing videos and im still learning, thankyou so much, hope to bump into you on your travels! Teagan x

Thank you so much for this video. it helped me a lot. I'm leaving in 4 days for a 3-week trip in Asia and the tips you gave here are really, really helpful. I'm really organized and I was still going to forget important things. The tips about the actual act of packing are also life-changing lol
I feel like instead of generalizing SE Asia + Europe, I would've said adventurous vs. relaxation/luxury trips... Europe has many rural areas that many people travel to, and SE Asia has city life too!
I've done a fair bit of traveling and never thought of stuffing a pillowcase with clothes. I always fold my jumper up only to wake up 30 minutes later to find it completely unraveled with drool marks. Thanks for the tip 😉👍🏻

Hello Nadine! I have two questions for you. During your backpacking trips where did you store your big backpack during the day when you were exploring the different cities? Also, I would like to know how did you go around choosing where you would be spending the night? Did you plan everything in advance? If you used hostel how long were your stays? Etc. thank you :)
I loved this video, but I'd like to make one correction: it probably is smart to bring some "temple pants" or cover-uppy clothing if youre planning on visiting lots of churches or cathedrals. Most churches arent super strict, but it will happen that you walk into a beautiful church and you are picked to the side and asked to cover up or leave, at least in my experience.

GURL. I have the same bag as you and way less stuff and I do not understand how you managed to get all of that in there! I’m impressed because I am seriously struggling here😂
Yay! Another informative video for us to learn and use on our next trip. Thank You Nadine! This videos must be stressful to make, but keep it up! We'll always be here to support you around the world! And you are inspiring me to create a new youtube channel and when I reach some success, I'll invite you to make some collaboration videos together.
Super thorough thank you! I think it's probably harder to pack for Europe/America than developing countries since everyone is so fashion conscious and you don't wanna look like a slob whereas in Asia looking like a slob is the backpackers thing! Thanks so much xx
It´s so easy to blend in with clothing in the modern parts of Europe, a normal t-shirt and any pair of shorts are what most wear in the summer. Focus on minimizing your packing and less about how you look
I mean I'm from Europe, I know how people dress. I'm just saying I think it's a lot easier to pack minimally in Asia/Central America backpacking trips cos you are roughing it more
Have you been able to carry this bag on flights? If not have you had any experience with lost baggage on flights where you have to check it? I love this bag just worried about the chance of losing it if I can't carry it on
Way too much stuff. I started travelling in 1985. 100 plus countries, always go carry on only. Current bag is a 25L, weight of everything I carry is 7kg. Merino wool. 4 shirts, 5 underwear, 4 socks, fleece jacket, hat, sunglasses. 1 pair of long pants, short pants, gym shorts, cell phone, battery, toiletries. I also have an osprey day bag, that weighs a few oz, that I use on location, or for overflow. One pair of gym shoes, flip flops. That's all you need! (Currently in Helsinki, heading to Estonia.) Traveling light is the way to go.
I was anxiously waiting for the part where u would pack it all up in that backpack. I wouldnt han able to make it fit, but then again i dont travel as much as i wish i would.
I also bring really old clothes when traveling long distance that way I just throw them away less to carry back. But sometimes I still come back with more from shopping
Dang, that's impressive how the backpack doesn't look like those huge long backpacks I see people use but it can hold all the things you went over. The price is a little over my budget for my 2-week trip in the Philippines but I'm really considering it because it seems like it's worth it.
I didn't know video like this existed. Your video gave me a good idea what and how I want to pack for my Europe trip.'However, I still don't know how much and how to carry my money, I guess Credit Cards will be my best bet. Thank a million and God Bless.
please make a video on how to keep your skin clear during long flights? cause everytime i go on an airplane (especially ones that are like 15 hours long), my skin breaks out a lot... and i wanna wear makeup to cover it but i feel like it might just make my skin worse ??
Maybelle L I highly recommend the Glamglow thirsty mud mask. It's steep in price ($70), but it does wonders for maintaining the skin. It was created for air travel (you wear it on the plane). You could also use it as a moisturiser, which helps justify the price.
I travel 15 to 19 hours sometimes 26 hours total in planes; Try 100% pure cosmetics ; Drink lots of dandelion or turmeric with ginger tea plus lots of water; no alcohol please while inside the plane; i bring fresh herbs and small fruits and nuts (homegrown or organic) with me to munch on and I spray rosewater/hydrating tonic on my skin every 2-4 hrs during flight; I pack very light 5 to 7 kilos or 10-12 pounds only -carry on pack and I have a vest from ScottEvest that has so many hidden pockets but lightweight; I usually travel anywhere from 5-9 weeks..I have been traveling for 41 years all of Asia, the Baltics, Middle East and Europe; Latin America and the USA; Your skin is the biggest organ - do not put chemicals on it which are found in many commercialized products; Try 100%Pure products - and your skin will thank you and feel and look fantastic! JR, Texas ps the video presented is too much too heavy and not necessary for travel. One bag 7 kilos tops!
My husband and I are going on a trip to Europe so this video is helpful. also got the Osprey but only the 40L, we were gonna get the 55, but we don't want to check in our bags. Some people said it's ok as a carry on some said no? I'm just wondering if you've ever carry it with you or checked it in.
Hey nadine! I love ur vids and watched this packing vid so many times😂 is this still how u pack? Please do an updated one for carryon only or 7kg only hehe (budget airline probs) Love from Hong Kong!!
Nice Video +Hey Nadine , some great info there that I will be using. I'm squeezing a year of travels into the Osprey Farpoint 40L :) I guess that's the difference between girls and boys packing
A 40 liter backpack is almost taller than me. I have a 20 liter backpack and I’m not even packing half the stuff. Her choice of clothing is cute though and gives me ideas for both Southeast Asia and Europe.
Yikes, that's a lot of stuff. I didn't carry most of that when I backpacked for 4 months in Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize. I wore one pair of pretty flipflops everywhere, I didn't need 1/2 of that clothing. There were women who came into hostels who had been backpacking for 2 weeks and were carrying outrageously humongous backpacks filled with junk. I'm going to India for 4 months and will carry an absolute minimum of stuff. Don't carry jewelry, shoes, endless clothing changes unless you're staying in an all-inclusive fancy hotel room. LESS is always better.

Wow, that's a lot of stuff you're packing. Personally I would leave some of the items behind or bring different things:
-Instead of bringing 3 bags + a clutch I usually pack a small crossbody bag (should be practical enough for everyday wear but still cute enough for going out) and a tote bag for bigger items.

+chaimae FASSI FIHRI it's really not to bad at all!
+Hey Nadine Maybe it s just le then haha
+chaimae FASSI FIHRI She does kinda say she knows how to pack so that she minimizes things she doesn't need and finds other ways to decrease her packing Ex microfiber towel
I couldn't tell you a number but I'm almost sure this bag is less than 20 kg !
Great video! I am going to be traveling to India and SE Asia early next year so this was great, thank you!
Good tutorial video but how much does all this stuff in these 2 bags together weigh, looks awfully heavy to me?
+JCTraveler4107 it's under the limit for checked bags thats for sure. since I've carred more than that before.
This video is soo cute!! Annd really does help if you travel alot!! I love you Nadine!!
Phew! That seems like a lot of stuff to me! I like that backpack, well designed.
Wow! wear can I get those black divider that you put your clothes into? I saw people use them for toiletries but never thought for clothes. smart tips. Ur packing techniques are awesome. I have been traveling just carrying but it still a hassel to fit things in. Thx for the video
Google 'packing cubes' 👍🏼
+Lucrezia Matamua Thank you
Packing cubes are a game changer! I recommend them to everyone now. Once you get them, you won't look back!
I LOVE THAT SHIRT OMG WHERE CAN I GET IT!!!!! And thanks for the video Nadine!!(:

The temple pants tip is essential for women in SE Asia!
Man U overpack on another level. U got like 9 pairs of shoes if that was me trainers n flip flops n we set
Awesome :) I plan on traveling a lot the next couple of years!
Thank you so much I am going to travail the world in 2 months and this was really helpful xx
Super thorough thank you! I think it's probably harder to pack for Europe/America than developing countries since everyone is so fashion conscious and you don't wanna look like a slob whereas in Asia looking like a slob is the backpackers thing! Thanks so much xx
+sazzy mcgee Who cares what people think lol, what are you 10?
err no? Just would feel a bit out of place in "temple" pants in Naples
Trust me, coming from Europe, nobody gives a rats ass if you look like a slob haha. Many backpackers do :)
It´s so easy to blend in with clothing in the modern parts of Europe, a normal t-shirt and any pair of shorts are what most wear in the summer. Focus on minimizing your packing and less about how you look
I mean I'm from Europe, I know how people dress. I'm just saying I think it's a lot easier to pack minimally in Asia/Central America backpacking trips cos you are roughing it more
This is awesome! I also see you use like packing cases too. Whoa. Thank you so much for this!!!
Love my Osprey Bags!
+Nomadic In The Philippines Same i have the red 55L LOVE IT!
I do quite a bit of heavy outdoorsy backpacking, and Osprey and Deuter are my favorite backpack brands. The only company I like more is Arcteryx.
Ospreys for the win!
that ending was awesome!
I love your vids! Totally helped me work out what to take on my trip. I'm totally obsessed with backpack packing videos ATM. :)
Have you been able to carry this bag on flights? If not have you had any experience with lost baggage on flights where you have to check it? I love this bag just worried about the chance of losing it if I can't carry it on
Who told you Asian people don't wear heels???
Lol
I really realise how light of a packer i am when i watch this kind of videos haha
Lots of nice tips and good ideas, tho :)
(Currently in Helsinki, heading to Estonia.)
Traveling light is the way to go.
Whoa you packed a lot in there!
And WHOA I need to use my fold up toiletry bag for clothes like you did, it's so much more useful that way. (!)
I love it! Finally a non-minimalist backpacker :D
please make a video on how to keep your skin clear during long flights? cause everytime i go on an airplane (especially ones that are like 15 hours long), my skin breaks out a lot... and i wanna wear makeup to cover it but i feel like it might just make my skin worse ??
The air on flights can be extremely drying to the skin, moisturizing is great, as is getting rest and drinking lots of water.
Danielle Garcia thank you, I'll remember that for next time I'm travelling :)
JR, Texas ps the video presented is too much too heavy and not
necessary for travel. One bag 7 kilos tops!
Great Vid.. Im just about to travel to Asia next week.
Please do an updated one for carryon only or 7kg only hehe (budget airline probs)
Love from Hong Kong!!
Sally Siegel how big was your bagpack?
Hey Nadine, your packing videos and tips are amazing. Can you please do a video what's in your travel make up bag???
wow~!! ssooo many shoes!!! I love your style, I would never bring so many shoes!
Thank you so much for this video. Even though i'm male i found interesting packing hacks here!
I am obsessed with that shirt! I want it. LOL.
