    One thing i'd highly recommand packing for any king of trip but even more for a backpacking trip is a tote bag: super convient to take your stuff with you when you go showering and the floor is wet so you can hang everything. Also super convenient to carry anything when you need a little extra space (eg for food) and once folded it takes so little space. Also, a fan if you're travelling in older trains/buses without ac

      Yes I always bring a tote bag for grocery store and quick things. And also recently for trips I’ve started bringing a foldable backpack for a day bag as well. A fan is a great idea as well. Thank you for sharing!

    Genius essential I always take now is a lightweight rechargeable UV 'steripen' to sterilise water. Also a handsize USB rechargeable fan, for comfort and to prevent the dreaded heat rash. Take utterly minimal clothing and hand wash yr sweaty clothes every day. Bring few metres of light cord and some lightweight stainless steel pegs with a tiny bottle of washing up liquid/bodywash that you can top up in accommodations.

      Hi!☺️ so glad it was helpful for you. Honestly for me I think I needed the two backpacks but if you think you just need one and a tote try it. The only issue with a tote is it might hurt to carry around on one shoulder? • @Fitzroyfallz
      @Fitzroyfallz 7 місяців тому +1

      A tote bag will be MAJORLY inconvenient, it’s easy for people to steal from, hurts your shoulders, and you’ll always need one arm to hold it instead of both arms being free with a backpack (especially important if you’re looking at things in markets or doing a hike!). Also backpacks have lots of compartments that make finding things a lot easier

    How big can I push it with backpack size for carry-on? Also, can I bring two bags in Southeast Asian airlines? I have a camera backpack that is non-negotiable but because of that I need to have a second bag for clothes and other stuff. I'm deciding whether to get a duffel bag or a backpack that turns to a briefcase carry as my second bag. Thanks!

    • @RoamwithRach
      @RoamwithRach  3 місяці тому

      Hi! You’d have to check the rules on the airline website but for backpacks I’ve never had an issue with 40L or under. On some flights I see people bringing small duffel bags as their carry on item. You’re typically allowed on most flights to have one personal item and one carry on item. But each airline is different with their rules. Hope that helps🙂

      All my bottles of liquids were under 100mL.. but you also need to be able to fit all your liquids into a tiny plastic bag that the airport gives you. Travelling on my period is not as challenging with a menstrual cup and period underwear. Those things help a lot.
      I find it is easy to rinse your underwear yes! I’ll just rinse them when I can and then hang them in my bunk if I’m staying in a hostel (I try to find a place that’s private so people don’t think I’m strange hanging up my underwear haha!). The thing I’ve been struggling with lately is my menstrual cup in countries where the water is not drinkable. Because I don’t think it’s safe to clean your cup with non drinkable water. So something to be mindful of. I know some girls have told me they will boil their cup in a hostel kitchen. I feel weird doing that sometimes lol!
