You reacted to Bob Dylan's version of Forever Young a year ago. This is basically a rewrite of that song. The music is different, but the construction of the verses and the lyrics are very similar. So similar, in fact, that they contacted Dylan to make sure he had no problem with it before releasing it and gave him shared writing credit and royalties.
Thank you for pointing this out. Rod Stewart is a garbage singer (not a musician by any measure). Manufactured rock star
This was a great song off of Rod's 1988 album Out of Order. An even better song to me from the same album was called 'Lost In You.' Both songs peaked at number 12 on the billboard hot 100 charts. You can just dance out and rock out to 'Lost In You'...........the energy was just awesome!
Rod Stewart's voice is beautiful and, yes, RASPY. In fact it's one of the raspiest, most sandpapery voices in rock music history. But his range is so awesome and his pitch control so spot on that he transcends the unconventionality of his voice and becomes a truly great singer.
For Rod I’d also recommend “I Don't Want to Talk About It” and then check out the original version by Crazy Horse
Have her listen to "People Get Ready"
This is Rod singing to his son in the video of this song you can see how this relates, this is a perfect song for any parents to sing to their child…….
Great song he wrote to his kids.
In December 2015, Louisa Johnson, the winner of the twelfth series of The British X Factor, released a cover version of "Forever Young" as her winner's single.
In January 1989, immediately following the broadcast of Super Bowl XXIII, NBC Sports used "Forever Young" as the soundtrack for a year-in-review montage showcasing highlights from the 1988 Summer Olympics, the 1988 World Series, the 1989 Fiesta Bowl, and Super Bowl XXIII. All four events had been broadcast by NBC. Wikipedia.
Every time I see it oh man
Seen Rod Stewart back in 95 at the Milwaukee amphitheater and it turned out to be a great concert. Some girl I just happened to be sitting next to just started making out with me while he played this song.
You have got to have her hear “Maggie May”
Rod Stewart is a British rock & pop singer, songwriter with a distinctive raspy singing voice. His music career started in the 60's. Rod Stewart was in quite a few groups before going solo. He was in the Dimensions, the Jeff Beck Group & "Small Faces"/"Faces". He had a lot of great hits such as "Reason To Believe", "Mandolin Wind", "The First Cut Is The Deepest", "You Wear It Well", "Sailing", "Tonight's The Night", "You're In My Heart, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy", "Rhythm of My Heart", "Hot Legs", "I Was Only Joking", "Some Guys Have All The Luck" & many more.
hi guys , i would like to recommend a track called in a broken dream. stewart provided vocals on the Python lee jackson original about 1970. it was very good but in 1992 he re recorded it with Dave Gilmour from Pink floyd on guitar and John Paul Jones from Led Zep on everything else and it is superb. This is not very well known and i don't think this will get a lot of likes , but you have to ask yourself how good does a song have to be for those three to record it and how good is it going to be when they do? I can't get anyone to react to this , i'm trying you because its three of your favourite things together. i promise you won't be disappointed.
The video is very sweet. Rod is good with kids ❤
Never be another!
The architecture of the lyrics of the song is very much from Dylan-there are definite similarities." The similarities were enough to contact Dylan, who requested a share of the royalties, and Stewart agreed.[8] His version charted at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, while it made #57 in the UK Singles Chart on its release in 1988, and #55 on re-release in 2013.[9] Wikipedia.

So many people did this song over 6 bands and rod never wrote song like paul young and alpha valle
If u do enjoy rod stewarts music, check out “all for one, all for love.” Rod Stewart, sting, and Bryan adams. Three greats. It’s amazing
I'm a big fan of Joan Baez' version of this. They are all great songs and messages.
It is also a great book, by Ashley Montagu, an old acquaintance. Actually that might be called "Growing Young". Same idea, fleshed out.

Rod's slower version with less instrumentation was a better version - off his love songs album

Bob Dylan released "forever young" in 1974 , in 1984 Alphaville released "forever young" an updated version, same chorus but different lyrics, , Rod Stewart did a much better version of Bob Dylan's in 1987, Jay-z then did a remix of Alphaville's version.
Try Rod Stewart…Da Ya Think I’m Sexy
Eric Church Eric Church church has a good song and creeping creeping there's a
Tomboy
You guys talk too low can barely hear you ,the music volume is fine 😁✌🏻
You guys do not wear headphones which is hacky. ALL GOOD reactors do. You need to hear all the little things in the song you would not. Won't listen if you don't.
He's a talented musician. I'm sure he hears everything perfectly without headphones. I'm sure he picks up on all the little things better than most of us.
@@TheRetroManRandySavage it is more fun for US knowing they can hear it on heaphones. You hear more stuff that's a fact.
Rod’s OK. I never understood why he became so popular. I guess the record companies got behind him? Decent music but nothing that I go out of my way to listen to. The Dylan original is better. Thanks Chod & Dee. ✌️
In the beginning Rod was a great blues singer with a very distinctive voice. I really liked him in the Jeff Beck Group, and the Faces. However this where he started turning pop, and he mostly lost me. However some of his tunes are pretty, like this one.
What confuses me is this: a drummer who has an understanding of music chooses this? Why? Rod Stewart is an example of Rock being bought and sold. He is talentless. But a company saw that he fit the image of a rock star and then manufactured him.
I have been a supporter of this channel since it’s inception. I know which artists excited you the most (or at least some of them): Bob Dylan, Janice, Pink Floyd… but lesser reacted to bands also, like Dave Matthews Band, Billy Strings, etc…
I wish you would look into more music from these sorts of true musicians. Billy Strings’ “Turmoil and Tinfoil” would blow your mind! DMB live or just Dave w/ Tim Reynolds playing “Tripping Billies” would bring a smile to you. I could continue, but it seems that now the only reactions are those which will get more views… hence, this reaction. Please return to making it about music and not only views. I realize that you need subscribers, but the channel is more and more like all of the others now…
I hope I’ve not offended. I support your channel because I love your reactions. I just hope you start to react to better pieces
You believe The Faces and The Jeff Beck group were manufactured? It was then a natural progression for him to go solo. I agree Billy Strings is fantastic, but you know nothing about Rod Stewart. To say he is talentless just shows your ignorance.
@@jimmytaylor9854
My ignorance, you say… what exactly are the greatest hits of Rod Stewart? What’s your favorite? Is it “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” He is not a musician. He is a singer, as he cannot play an instrument (the harmonica very poorly). I’ve nothing against singers, as long as they can really sing well. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Stewart’s scratchy pseudo-crooning does not qualify as great singing.
So that covers two pretty important aspects music: He can neither sing nor play an instrument.
Bob Dylan is not a particularly good musician… his guitar skills are intermediate at best. He has far from a traditionally good voice also. But I love Bob Dylan. Why? Because he is a phenomenal songwriter. Which leads me to the song I mentioned above. He is a garbage songwriter. Let’s think of the great lyricists of the past 50 years… would any of them have written a song like that?
I’m glad to hear you like Billy Strings. It means you are capable of appreciating good music. Unfortunately, a person who likes Rod Stewart so much that they insult others in defense of him gives me the unfortunate impression of a mindless drone. One who listens to the radio, because all they know are hits that are played for them ad nauseam.
Refute these points:
He cannot play an instrument
His voice is at worst atrocious and at best mediocre
His lyrics are trite and shallow
Regards
Well music is subjective and we like what we like, don't believe we have the right to judge anyone elses taste....
