Forever young means his son will always be his little boy in his heart and he will always have his back no matter where he goes. It’s a beautiful message.
Yes it hits differently when you have kids. Heard this song so many times when I was young I looked it but never really understood it. Then I had babies and I cry when I hear it now.
Just saw this and cried myself into hiccups.. The sentiments are so precious and Rod's rendition is the most powerful.

Releasd 3 years after my son passed away he was 15 months old. It tore my heart out when I first heard it & still does after all these years. Rod Stewart is a gem & everything he's sang is brilliant.
I cry everytime I hear this song, as my mom liked him and she said many of the lines in this song to me throughput my life. Now that she's gone I always think of her.😢

This was the song, from day one, that I said was to my daughter. She died in 2021 and to this day I get really emotional when I hear it. And she was 40 when she passed. All these years later it will always be my song for her.

My daughter is getting married in 3 weeks and I, as a former touring musician was asked to choose the song for the Father/Daughter dance.! As a musician I *agonized* thru so many in my mind.! Almost went with Daughters by John Mayer but the lyrics in this song by Rod was the clincher.! Been subscribed, love your format and variety of genre's & artists you react to but I saw this and had to share.! David .....

Bob Dylan released "forever young" in 1974 , in 1984 Alphaville released "forever young" an updated version, same chorus but different lyrics, , Rod Stewart did a much better version of Bob Dylan's in 1987, Jay-z then did a remix of Alphaville's version.
