It's such a good movie ❤ Mel is actually American and also has Irish citizenship. He moved to Australia with his parents when he was like 12 years old, but he never became a citizen.
Girls, I`m so happy you reacted to this movie. THANK YOU so much.❤ I watched it only once and fell instantly in love with it. Mel Gibson is so darn good-looking, and Elijah is so talented and sweet. Two guys with the most beautiful blue eyes enchanting everyone with a heart. I can`t understand why this movie is so underrated. I think most people don`t even know it exists. It`s just like with "THE BUTCHERS WIFE" with Demi Moore & Jeff Daniels. It`s a wonderful movie that you would love for sure.
I watch3d this from a rental and then talked my wife 8nto it. We both loved it. Shame they missed having their entire lives together because he freaked out and got frozen. Made me tear up at the end because I wanted to grow old with my wife but she died 6 years ago when I was 49. I'll be alone for the rest of my life.
_Moonstruck_ (1987). One of the finest romantic drama/comedies ever written. Nominated for six Oscars it won three: Best Actress - Cher; Best Supporting Actress - Olympia Dukakis; Best Original Screenplay - John Patrick Shanley. If you're in doubt as to whether you ought to watch it, ask Ashleigh Burton about it.
Yeah same, great actor, didn't think he went this far back. First knew him from The Shield and then as Boyd Crowder and then he got into some great roles with Tarantino. Be cool for him to be a main actor in one of those.
Secretariat is very likely the greatest athlete to ever cast a shadow. If you get a chance, watch the live coverage of the '73 Belmont. It was supernatural. That horse set a track record that will *never* be broken. The film is a fine tribute. As one reporter put it: "it was like God whispered to one of his creatures. And the angels wept."
"He's moving like a tremendous machine!" And he was, as he got faster and faster the longer the race lasted. Just incredible performance which will probably never be duplicated.
First movie I remember Mel Gibson in was Gallipoli, about the Australian/New Zealand Army Corps who attempted to land beachhead on the Turkish Peninsula of Gallipoli in World War I. The Anzac are still celebrated in Australia & New Zealand.
@@mvprime8I don't even follow horse racing and know plenty about Secretariat lol. Basically the most famous race horse in history. I DO get what you're saying, though.
When I think of the song Forever Young, I think of the Rod Stewart song of that name. If you haven't heard it or seen the video, you should check it out.
The first time I saw Elijah Wood in a movie was as a child actor opposite Macaulay Culkin in a movie entitled “The Good Son” (1993). Elijah Wood once again plays a sweet boy while Macaulay Culkin plays an evil child that’s the polar opposite of Kevin McCallister, his character in the “Home Alone” movies. You might find it worth a look if you like Elijah Wood as a child actor.
3:26. Nope. He never "repented" because he never did anything wrong. He just spoke the truth (and still does) and they tried to cancel him. They failed. Mel is too big to be canceled. Also he never stopped making movies. It's just that the vile media don't advertise them because he's their enemy.
Mel has always been outspoken and his views have always gone against the grain. His main fault in life is being an alcoholic and then leaving his wife. It was karma that his girlfriend set him up, recording him while he was on a drunken rant. The woke press just ganged up on him. I'm glad he's gotten back on his feet. Hacksaw Ridge was a great movie, saw Cassie's reaction to it a while back.
It's one of those weird 90s premises, but those actors all hold it together and really sell it... and it's a favorite from that time. Sweet and lovely... and since then, I have that Billie Holiday song in my regular music rotation.
The Road Warrior was the second in the series and was only called that in the US. The rest of the world knows it as Mad Max 2. But best to start with Mad Max as it sets the scene with society on the edge of collapse. It would be a good one to do a reaction to.
Another great Mel Gibson movie is “the man without a face“. A great drama! And another Elijah Wood movie that will blow your mind when it comes to his acting abilities at such a young age is “radio flyer“. It also has the boy from Jurassic Park in it. They are both phenomenal!!! I’ve got to say… your Patreon’s are the absolute best! There are so many movies they recommend that no one is reacting to and that is what makes your channel so unique. These are great movies that would just be lost to time and technology. But you guys are keeping them going! Keep doing what you’re doing! Much love! 💙💙💙
Another early Mel Gibson movie from 1982 where he actually plays an Australian is "The Year of Living Dangerously" with Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hunt.
It's been sooooo long since i suggested this one ... over and over again along with "I am Sam" with Sean Penn ... that's even more .... much more magical in fact ;) .... glad u guys watched finally....
The 90's were the greatest decade. Also the last, unfortunately. 2001 ended everything and it's all been an amorphis blob ever since. So glad we got videos from you consecutive days. Kinda needed ya today. Pretty good movie to have both of you on, thanks.
LMFAO. The 90s were not "the greatest decade", it was the "sellout decade". It was the head up the butt deacde. We're still in the 90s! We've never left! We're still in the 80s actually! It's been one long dark period, make no mistake about it just because you were in high school or whatever your idealizing about that dopey decade. And hey, I was in my 20s in then, living the life, but the 90s was the head-up-the-butt decade and the 80s was the conscious decision to insert it up there. Every problem that exists now started then, and it's even pretty much the same cast of tedious people, the whole miserable 40 years. John Lennon got shot in December of 1980, Reagan took office a month later, and the forces of evil (to use a dopey term that I know subscribers of this channel will understand) have never let up ever since.
Yay! I knew you two would enjoy this. More Mel recommendations: The Bounty (1984) The River (1984) The Man Without a Face (1993) Conspiracy Theory (1997) Signs (2002) And the Mad Max trilogy
I think that this is the Most Beautiful Movie that Mel Gibson has ever made💖it's so Wholesome, so Heartwarming, and the Ending always makes Me Cry!😭 Thank You-Both for watching this one👍and I Hope that more Reaction Channels will Experience "Forever Young" too...🤞
🍿🎥🫶It’s ridiculous how much y’all are gonna love this movie on a rainy day. For all the obvious romcom reasons, sure, but a baby Elija Wood (amongst other stellar casting choices that you’ll recognize quickly). Beautiful vintage aircraft & a charming script… ENJOY!!
I remember when Forever Young came out. I was 29 at the time. I feel like Mel in that it can't be 32 years later. Watching some of these older movie reactions does feel like being able to go back in time and reliving the times. You mentioned Beautiful girls. A guilty pleasure movie of mine. Good cast too: Timothy Hutton, Matt Dillon, Michael Rappaport, Uma Thurman, Rosie O'Donnell, Mia Sorvino, Lauren Holly, David Arquette, and a young teen Natalie Portman.
Mel Gipson was born in the US then traveled to Australia with his family when he was 10-11ish years old, stayed for a while and got into acting at a young age. However he is a born in US, citizen.
@tictocmelody9190 : More versatile, creative, and prolific -- and at least every bit as compositionally gifted. Plus -- and most important -- a much smarter and more thoughtful *dramatist*, whose scores contained a thematic synergy that Williams scores rarely do. Everything is related, integrated. Not some patchwork quilt of different, sophomoric "cat calls" reinforcing what's already obvious. ("Hey, it's Princess Leia -- play Princess Leia music!") Jerry was the consummate musical storyteller; as FOREVER YOUNG illustrates, a Jerry Goldsmith score would, in Director Steve Miner's words, " take you on a journey." Indeed -- and a richly rewarding one at that.
@@doogboh Wow, brilliantly encapsulated, bro. "More versatile" is how you started it and you can say that again. And hey, I love the Close Encounters score, I can't take that away from ole Johnny, brilliant, beautiful work......and Jaws before it, couldn't imagine a better score......but other than that, he's imitation Mahler. I totally agree about "cue the theme music"! Goldsmith is totally in my shortlist of greatest film composers. I love Herrmann, I love Nino Rota, especially his Fellini scores, and Goldsmith is the next name I always cite.
@tictocmelody9190 : You mentioned Herrmann -- he's just about the only scorer, at least historically, who I think was even in Jerry's league. I too love the CLOSE ENCOUNTERS score. Very Goldsmithian/Herrmannesque in a number of ways (e.g., thematically focused). STAR WARS was the beginning of the end for Williams. As a one-off it made for an amusing Golden Age homage -- but then JW basically decided to make a career out of regressive scoring, disregarding the sensible advancements that a Herrmann and a Goldsmith produced.
NUMEROUS time i have suggested this movie on several reators channels. FINALLY! ISo glad you were the first, well i think you are. This gem flies 'under the radar' for some reason which i do not understand. PS: An equally special Mel Gibson movie that he starred in as well as Mel's Directorial debut is 'Man Withou a Face". Suggest putting on your future watch list.
If I am thinking of the same song Cassie was thinking of, that song, "Who wants to live forever", is by Queen and was also featured in 1 of my all-time favorite movies, Highlander. Whenever I hear the words, "Forever Young", I always think of Rod Stewart's song of the same name, which I honestly never knew until just a few years back was actually a remake of an older song. I still remember when I saw this movie back many years ago on VHS about the same time I also saw The Man Without a Face, another movie I think you would both love, but in a different way. I remember both movies made me cry. I forget the reason why, but I never got to see either those movies in theaters when they came out. One thing I appreciated about this movie is how when Gibson's character first woke up, he's freezing and can barely get the words out in his phone call, as opposed to many other sci-fi movies & tv shows where the main lead is thawed out years later, they seem to immediately wake up & adjust quickly to the temperature.
The scientific problem with cryogenics is water expands when it freezes. This causes your cells to burst. Solve this problem and cryogenics could happen.
I have a story from my first job today that ties directly into your last reaction video. I'm assuming you'll do episodes 3 & 4 fairly soon. The world is a unique place and the timing was pretty amazing since you just posted that vid a day or two ago. I had a customer today that was one of the last 4 remaining guys from the 100th Bomber Squadron. I'll post the full story from this morning when you do your next episode on Masters Of The Air.
I forgot all about this film until I saw this upload. The first film Mel Gibson that I ever saw and which had an impact on me was made in Australia in 1979, it was a love story between a slightly slow young handy-man (Mel Gibson) and an older business women (Piper Laurie of Carrie's mother in the original Carrie). It is a brilliant piece of work, and yet so little known or talked about. The film is called 'Tim'.
JJ Abrams wrote the script to this movie, which, along with "Regarding Henry" (featuring Harrison Ford and Annette Bening, a great movie for your reactions), kickstarted his career. Mel also wanted the Regarding Henry role but it went to Ford. Speaking of Ford, I am suddenly reminded of William Hurt (the guy he replaced as "Thunderbolt" Ross in the MCU), who also appeared in an excellent medical-related drama, "The Doctor." Big recommend for one of your reactions.
Mel Gibson was born in New York but moved to Australia when he was 12. Alot of people have thrown him under the bus for his words and some actions. My personal opinion is that he didn't murder or rape anyone. Nobody's perfect and most people can be redeemed. I still enjoy his work.
Oh ok, so as long as someone hasnt commited any violent crimes, its ok in your eyes if they are a rampant right wing antisemite, bigot and homophobe? How about beating their ex girlfriend? That ok? Sorry but your views are nuts. There's a reason Gibson was blacklisted for ten years and it's because of everything I listed.
Mel: "won $10G on Jeopardy, and his Dad used that $ to move their family to Australia", so how young a kid could he have been? Is there a Jeopardy Junior?
Yes. There is a collegiate version as well as a kids' version. Also, I'm thinking there might be a teens' version.👍 I have no idea what version or when he won, but it's entirely possible that the story is true.
@ladyhotep5189 what's wild is the same people will overlook anything good Mel has done and also support literal rapists, child abusers, and war criminals without batting an eye

Just so you guys know I'm watching this right now on your channel and there's a little detail that you should know about at the beginning of the movie when Mel goes to the picnic and the little boy is sitting there staring at him with the ice cream melting all down his hand the little boy is Steve Hinton Junior who is the son of Steve Hinton senior who is the pilot of all the world War II planes in this movie and is the president of the air museum at Chino California and one of the fore most warbird pilots in the world he's all grown up now as you can imagine and flies world War II planes himself!!😊😊

Still need to see that one. Is it from the 80's?
@@ct6852It was released in 1990.
I recommend the underrated John Candy movie "Only the Lonely" (1991).
Yes, it has that beauty, Maureen O'Hara.
Great recommendation! Honestly, there needs to be more John Candy love on this channel, in general.
@@Vinciini83 Hello, it was sad watching " Wagon's East! ". I wish there had been another fifty-sixty John Candy movies made. I hope this summer Popcorn and Carly watch " Summer Rental " and " Captain Ron ". Both are excellent summer movies.
Yes!
She needs to watch " Cool Runnings" his last movie
Haven't seen this movie in ages. Definitely a childhood fave. Elijah was good in this one and also _Radio Flyer_
I haven’t seen this movie in years. I never recognized Walton Goggins as the security guard. This was Goggins first credited theatrical movie role.
I love this movie.
I've been fortunate to have flown in "Barbie III", a B-25, several times, where I functioned as a Flight Engineer and Crew Chief.
It was cool seeing David Grant in this movie. I loved his performances in "American Flyers".
That's awesome, the B-25 has always been my favorite WWII aircraft. I finally got the chance to climb into one at the Palm Springs air museum, and it was a little tight in there! Heck, even the B-17 was smaller inside than I had imagined.
@@Johnny_Socko Agreed. Hollywood makes these planes look bigger on screen.
Besides having also flown on the B-17 Aluminum Overcast a few times, I've served as a ground crewman for both Aluminum Overcast and "Barbie III".
18:29 “Just what I wanted.” 😂 Dude, Mel Gibson is so charming and affable. He’s so natural and great in his movies.
It's such a good movie ❤ Mel is actually American and also has Irish citizenship. He moved to Australia with his parents when he was like 12 years old, but he never became a citizen.
Girls, I`m so happy you reacted to this movie. THANK YOU so much.❤
I watched it only once and fell instantly in love with it.
This movie has been overlooked over the years. Glad to see that you two enjoyed it, it’s a very sweet story.
That's sad. Praying you find peace.
Helen is played by Isabel Glasser. She is in "Pure Country" with George Strait. Also a good movie.
Surprisingly good, even with George Strait's poor acting.
Mel was born in Peekskill New York , he’s American but then his family moved to Australia when he was young.
His father moved to Australia so his sons avoid the Viet Nam war. Ironically, Mel Gibson starred in We were Soldiers about the Viet Nam war.
They must watch it 😊
"Snap Out of It!"...... It Definately Earned Best Screenplay......
My mom very much agrees with you.
Oh hey I never noticed Walton Goggins as the gate guard before.
He also is in shanghai noon and has a small cameo in the Bourne identity.
Same…
Yeah same, great actor, didn't think he went this far back.
I forgot that quote. Perfect.
First movie I remember Mel Gibson in was Gallipoli, about the Australian/New Zealand Army Corps who attempted to land beachhead on the Turkish Peninsula of Gallipoli in World War I. The Anzac are still celebrated in Australia & New Zealand.
Secretariat fans just can't help but keep spoiling the movie, they already did in the Seabiscuit comments.
This was one of the first movies I ever bought on VHS as a teenager in my rom-com phase.
I had it taped off of the TV and watched it often.
To hear his aussie accent you have to see "Road Warrior".
Much love! 💙💙💙
Omg!!! I’m so glad you watched this movie!! One of my favorite Mel Gibson movies!
Another early Mel Gibson movie from 1982 where he actually plays an Australian is "The Year of Living Dangerously" with Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hunt.
Then of course there's Gallipoli
It's one of my favorites! And has a pretty good romance in it that they might enjoy.
It's been sooooo long since i suggested this one ... over and over again along with "I am Sam" with Sean Penn ... that's even more .... much more magical in fact ;) .... glad u guys watched finally....
Finally! Forever Young!
@@TTM9691Not true
The last great decade was the 2000s
@@TTM9691Reagan was awesome
@@danerook LMFAO. You must have been living with your head up your asshole.
Hi I couldn't but notice the Star trek number plate behind the both of you....fascinating 🖖👏🙌🙏👍🎉 also lovely and beautiful film forever young!!!!❤
Watch "Cool Runnings" please, its john candys last movie, a sports movie and you will love it!
I thought Wagons East was his last movie because he passed away just before the movie was officially finished ?
Yay! I knew you two would enjoy this.
More Mel recommendations:
The Bounty (1984)
The River (1984)
The Man Without a Face (1993)
Conspiracy Theory (1997)
Signs (2002)
And the Mad Max trilogy
You should react to "The Man Without a Face" with Mel Gibson. Interesting movie.
I think that this is the Most Beautiful Movie that Mel Gibson has ever made💖it's so Wholesome, so Heartwarming, and the Ending always makes Me Cry!😭 Thank You-Both for watching this one👍and I Hope that more Reaction Channels will Experience "Forever Young" too...🤞
Glad to hear you’re going to watch Secretariat !! You’ll love it!!!I was lucky enough to see him win the triple crown(on tv)!!
Elijah Wood was amazing in Radio Flyer just around this time.
Pretty sure the first guard Gibson encounters and yells at is Walton Goggins who plays Chris Mannix in The Hateful Eight
Should check out Elijah Woods and Maculie Culkin ( misspelled) in:
The Good Son
he gives another amazing performance in that one!
I like mel. Watch him in tim and the mad max films to hear his aussie accent, though the aussie accent slips back in the first 2 lethal weapon films
Air America with Mel and Robert Downey Jr.
Mel Gipson was born in the US then traveled to Australia with his family when he was 10-11ish years old, stayed for a while and got into acting at a young age. However he is a born in US, citizen.
There never has been, and there never will be, a horse like Secretariat. Greatly looking forward to watching it with you.
Central Virginia's own!
Another great one from that era is "Always" from 1989-awesome movie!!
This is the best movie and a great score by Jerry Goldsmith.
Goldsmith . . . The Master
He's the best, totally underrated. I'll take him ANY DAY over John Williams.
Peanut butter on banana is life.
But with Jelly?
@@mdmyerIf you've never tried Goober PB and J on banana in your life, you're missing out.
but with the jelly too?
@goyasolidar I've done pb and banana but never been a fan of jelly.
Another great young Elijah Wood movie is “Radio Flyer”.
Definitely up y’all’s alley.
Mad Max Trilogy = Australian Accent Mel
Cassie, try Mel Gibson in "Conspiracy Theory" 1997.
Yep "Conspiracy Theory" the two of them would love it. Come a patreons, make it happen!
I love you two reacting to movies you’re naturally all around good people and that is so rare in the world literally. Great movie and great reaction ❤
Mel Gibson is from New York, his family moved to Australia when he was a young teen. He did start his career though.
Frequency is a movie sort of on these lines. Excellent movie. Dennis Quaid, Jim Cavezel.
The scientific problem with cryogenics is water expands when it freezes. This causes your cells to burst. Solve this problem and cryogenics could happen.
Not this being one of my favorite movies and not realizing Walton Goggins was the gate guard at Mel yelled at in the beginning. 😮
I remember seeing this and I'd conpetley forget Jamie Lee Curtis was in this, great reaction from you two.
Mel Gibson in Galipoli if youwant a great vintage Australian performance.
You need to watch Phenomenon with John Travolta, Forrest Whitaker, and Kyra Sedgwick. You will thank me afterwards!
another great film no one else ever suggests along with Michael
The Good Son from 1993 Elijah Wood and Macaulay Culkin !!!! Watched with Carly and get your kankies ready 😢 unbelievable dramatic!
Watch Mad Max. You’ll hear his accent.
He seems to condone a lot of murders of Jews however. 😮
Mel: "won $10G on Jeopardy, and his Dad used that $ to move their family to Australia", so how young a kid could he have been? Is there a Jeopardy Junior?
Yes. There is a collegiate version as well as a kids' version. Also, I'm thinking there might be a teens' version.👍
I have no idea what version or when he won, but it's entirely possible that the story is true.
@ladyhotep5189 what's wild is the same people will overlook anything good Mel has done and also support literal rapists, child abusers, and war criminals without batting an eye
I've seen it and I am in tears again ...WOW You two are GREAT
You two have watched every Mel Gibson war movie except one "Gallipoli"(1981). Based on the worst Australian battle of all time. You want to hear his Aussie accent it'a as thick as can be in Gallipoli.
As a little kid, Elijah Wood was everywhere! He was a beautiful little boy!!
You guys definitely need to look into his movies that he stared in.
I didn't know Norm Peterson was in this..........NOOOOOOORRRRRMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!
ok huge props for knowing the Alphaville song "Forever Young"
Please react to a movie called Green Street. Starring Elijah Wood & Charlie Hunnam
Forever Young was also featured in the movie, Napoleon Dynamite.
Great reaction. There was a 1991 movie called "Late For Dinner' with a similar theme that I absolutely adored. I highly recommend you check it out.
Agreed. Similar, but different ending. I enjoyed both movies.
Norm!
Oh, and I think you'd like Big Trouble In Little China with Kurt Russell & Kim Cattrall. It has all the action, mystery, & love drama you need.
