I am awaiting my BlackBox and this is the thing that sold me on getting one when I found out you could not only multisample but have the BlackBox do the recording for you. Can't wait to make some patches more portable!
I have done the same thing with the 1010 Tangerine. In fact, I think they added the multisample record to the Blackbox after the Tangerine came out. Go figure. I own both so now they are somewhat redundant. The Tangerine makes for a very small and portable eight track/multisample instrument that attached to a sequencer like the Torso T1 is a lot of fun. And yes, My Digitakt II is also at the Elektron repair center with the exact same grey lines issue. It took a week for it to arrive at the repair center in the West Coast from the East Coast where I live, so it looks like it will be another couple of weeks until I get it back. There appears to be an epidemic of those screens being defective.
Oh man that end result sounded so good! Really nice video. I liked the bit of midi-literacy there, I think that’s the smallest A-to-B converter I’ve seen so far and I should probably get one of these The only issue I’ve ran into myself with multisampling is that the velocity-layers weren’t smoothly mapped to midi-velocity which resulted in really jarring jumps in velocity while playing back. Apart from that it’s really cool and powerful Regarding the headphone out: I think all outputs are always outputting on the headphone out as well.
Great video! On the Blackbox, the headphones out monitors all outputs summed together, so that's why there's no individual selection option for it. Output 1 is not the same as headphones out. Also Poly X means the max polyphony available, which is 16 per pad/multisample, or 32 for the whole unit. So if you set two multi-samples with poly x, each one would get 16 note polyphony, and that would be all of the polyphony within the blackbox used up.
Awesome - thank you for some great content. Maybe you could make a video about multi samples in general. I'm guessing that there are numerous other use cases? Like more realistic drums triggering a new sample every time?
Great video, thank you! I’m looking for a quick way to switch between multisamples (or combinations of layered multisamples) without having to assign them to different MIDI channels. Is there a more convenient way to do this? Also, is there a way to assign global volume to a MIDI CC? My goal is to have all my patches loaded for a gig and be able to switch between them seamlessly-both forward and backward-similar to how you would on a Nord Stage. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I think you should be able to tap on different pads to load up different multisamples triggered by the same keyboard but I actually haven’t tried yet! No way that I know of to map the master volume to CC :(
@ yes yes that’s the other option but when you tap the pad with your finger, there is a note sounding, so maybe there is a way to turn that off? Thanks for your help!
Thank you.... I recently bought my Blackbox instead of a Digi 2 (for polyphonic playback) and this was useful.... especially so as your manner is completely non-irritating - although you sound about 15 years younger than you look (no insult or compliment, just a personal observation :o)
Thank you for the multi-sampling tutorial on the BB. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you sooooo much!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video, thanks for encouraging me to dust off the black box again! I haven't used it in a long time
Thank you!! Blackbox is so cool, I’m always finding new uses for it :)
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for letting me know this blackbox exists.
It's a great little machine, you might enjoy it!

Ahh that’s awesome! You are gonna love it!

Ahh the tangerine is super cool! Sorry to hear about your Digitakt, hopefully we both get them back soon!

Much appreciated!! Ooooh interesting, I haven’t tried the velocity layering yet but I should soon..

Ahhh I see! that's super helpful, thanks for the clarification! Looks like your channel has some great blackbox stuff too!
@@tjguardino Indeed! Blackbox tutorial high five

Great suggestion! I’ve been thinking about doing one for drums at different velocity layers I think that’d be pretty cool!
@@tjguardino Sounds cool. Can't wait to see it in action ;)
once again, great video, but i did miss the guitar in this one
Yeah, it was a bit of a synth-heavy one this time! More guitar heavy next time I promise 😎
Damn thanks I missed that firmware update. That’s dope! - question: did you get that hiccup where a single note is completely off after multisampling?
Hmm I didn’t get that hiccup!
Great video, thank you!

Great video thank you! would you be able to link the adapter you used for TRS B to A? thanks!
Thanks! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BVJ7SQRM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I would be interested in how to multisample sth. like a drumkit or one shot sample kit.
Good call!!
Oh no...the screen doom
😖😱💀
