Hey Aussie, could you please upload the record file of the game? I would really like to watch it in game again and focus on some things you simply could not cover in your video. Ty :)
Just a note, chopping down trees does not affect the income of hunting cabins. The income of hunting cabins is based on the number of trees that are in its radius when it is built, but once it's built that income remains static. So, you can freely chop the trees around a cabin, after it is built. :)
13:41 Hunting cabin retains the gold income from the wood when it was PLACED, so you can safely chop the wood. It is limited artificially with a cap on overall gold generation when you have many cabins.
More of this, please! I'm an absolute rookie and those pro-game casts you do are pretty helpful but content like this is what i need way more of before i jump into multiplayer
According to the Faq of the last show match, the hunting cabins retain their gold income after the trees dissapear, but they have a max overal-cap of total cabin income. Unless they changed that ofcourse.
@@aintfalco7968 the details were not included in the livestream, but someone will probably make a video of it in the near future when more information comes to the surface.
Themista's base building is always so well calculated, I first saw him on an AoM match were he did an incredible villager rush with Set. His eco building is so much like AoM, the way he optimizes economy, AoM players always place things as close to resources as possible since there's no will barrow, things like building 2 or even 4 mining camps in each side of the gold mine, placing a food deposit in the middle of the hunt killing all the hunt immediately and as close to the food deposit as possible and constantly building new wood deposits as villagers consume the trees, all of this just not to make the villagers walk any extra steps
I think that archers and pikes would win this engagement as long as you had the same economy as him. He just had too many horses so that your composition didn't really matter.
At around 14:00 you mentioned that he doesn't want to chop the wood around the hunting cabin because of the passive gold that it generates. I thought that the amount of gold the cabins generated is determined by the number of un-chopped trees around it when it was built, and doesn't change over time?
Drongo, I recommend trying some shorts(maybe of the monk warrior grab today) or premiering videos an continuing with good tags . Might help stroke the algorithm in your favour. Anyways, Great work 👍🇨🇦
Rus is a really strong faction, their special towers are really good for keeping your peasant safe from raid, The guns units(Strelki?) is great too. Combine that with knights, cav archer and their hunting cabin/bounty mechanics.... one of the best faction easily. The only thing that is potentially a menace to the rus is maybe a Rush of heavy infantry from HRE?
I personally think with the composition of your army, the best play would have probably been to take map control by outposts, then just have your army stabilize those areas and turtle up until you can get a mangonel. The advantage of the cavalry is a lot because they can just disengage until you over extend, and punish you as you retreat with the horsemen.
A few questions if you don't mind, brother. When you say 'outposts' are you referring to watch towers? I've always considered them defensive structures, but are you suggesting it's good to dot a few all over the map? I really like that idea if that's the case. Would you mind elaborating? I'm still playing the AI and doing the campaigns until I'm ready to enter the online domain. Cheers mate.
@@occamsblunderbuss Yes, I mean the towers. They're there to provide control and better security if you decide to take resources from the area. They also provide slower units some cover and support, allowing you to kite better. For example, with the archer and pikeman composition, you can attack the horses, fallback to the tower when chased, then support with the pike.
He should start with stable so he can take boars and maximize bounty and can get Eco ups earlier just 2 knight is enough and he can damage with them (or buy time) when booming maybe add another TC and go for imp idk
I will go for rus my self First i liked them because of theyr horse archers (i love horse archers). Now it seems like they are a good ziv overall. Early knights, fast map control/ awareness because of scouts.
In my first 1v1 vs Intermediate AI game as the French, I completely forgot that scouts can carry carcasses, so I built a mill near a group of deer quite far away from my base. Good thing it was an Intermediate AI using the HRE and I aged up a bit earlier than it, otherwise I'd be screwed.
@Lee Tabern Isnt it a tech available to all civs? The cost is pretty heavy tho and only rus can afford 275 gold so early without a big age up time loss due to hunting gold.
faster gathering rate farms also cost wood, so you'll be set back on wood for a while when you transition into farms a mill/hunting cabin next to some deer is more cost-effective you also want to deny that advantage from your opponent considering all of the above
Very nice build, thank you for the look at it. I think thou (as a former SC player) that your response to his mere 3 scouts hunting hurt you economically the most. You produced them very early while you want to macro up. Or am I wrong? This is a very nice complexity to do economic harrasment with Rus by threatening to take Gaia.
I find build order vids very interesting. I heard you can start a game without an ai opponent. Would it make sense trying to mimic the first 5 minutes so the camera can focus on it exclusively? It may be easier for people to absorb. For science.
one thing to note, the food upgrade he was getting wasn't actually helping him as it seems it only effect the gather rate of farms, a better upgrade would be the animal gathering rate increase
I wonder if he really could've responded to your army before he built his own, if you'd used your army offensively and attacked his production with rams.
I think maybe if youre playing English use the longbow special spires/pikes ability, would probably need a lot tho if it came to the size of his army but yeah still a tough one, probably mangonels as you say, quite expensive so maybe if you anticipate this strategy save up gold early
In the main menu it's one of the bottom buttons shows match (victory defeat etc) history and the replay is the golden icon on the left seems all games are recorded automatically since its a sim and takes like no space
HA are supposedly weak to ranged. They do seem a bit too beefy for their cost though. About countering the rus build. Maybe a couple spears to defend your own hunts if he's aggressive, and to guard his Hunts if not.
I haven't played against Rus horse archers yet, but mongol mangudai are really week to normal archers. Mangudai damage is terrible though, it would be cool to see a comparison.
In my day we didn't give up so easy and we sure didn't ride around the map wasting time herding sheep! All that time should be spent building farms and walls so you don't have to do that stuff in the middle of the game while micro managing your troops. Plus if you focus on base you're not late by a few seconds here and there. Then, if you lose a battle or you're a little behind, you can convert resources to more towers and walls to slow down the enemy. You can make a new army and make the enemy chase your 40 troops with his 80 troops and waste his time and close the time gap. You can sacrifice those 40 to build your own 80. The point is that time should not be deciding factor of the game. It should be the micro managing. It should be skill of pulling out low health troops and healing them. The enemy may win in the end because you sacrificed some resources but at least you get several chances for them to make some mistakes or just get unlucky with their timing and spacing. I'm not saying it's not possible for a very good player to split his army to push the town and chase down your smaller army. But I'd never assume he'd succeed every time, far from it. There's always been a 200 unit cap so eventually it doesn't matter if the enemy has more resources at any given moment. What matters is the battles and the recoveries. They can win the first two battles and you can still win the third and fourth battle. Or you can alternate wins. Often the winner is just the player who didn't give up first. Of course, there are times when you can't recover. Like early on when they kill a bunch of villagers and you can't even setup defenses. Or you just make a bad mistake like not walling off a path or something and the enemy gets inside where they kill your troops as they spawn. But walls should give you time to build a mass to work with. I used to build like 3 or 4 walls deep. Maybe there's things I don't know but seems like people forgot how to play or something.
You can, but both wont generate gold if they're too close, deleting the second one will ensure that your first cabin is generating the same gold as before
Man, the Chinese are so underwhelming... Early aggression is everything in this game, and the Chinese are like "Here, let me pay for aging up AGAIN for a bonus that I will NOT retain and that won't help me much against being raided".
Ram rush with spearmen would have taken him out in 12 minutes. He didn't have much and producing units 1 by 1 won't deal any dmg to your spearmen while you just snipe landmarks. His build is so fragile. But good for long defensive gameplay.
great video. I cant believe how there is not a peace time...treaty i think it was called or something like that.
