    After removing the top I found that my LG washer was leaking from the rubber bellows at the top that connects to the detergent dispenser on the front loft corner of the machine. There were two small holes in it that probably came from rubbing against the drum when it vibrated when on over the years. It was an easy fix just had to loosen the two screw clamps and remove the old belows and replace it with a new one (LG part 473ER1004B $42 cdn). The hardest thing to do was moving the washer (which was on an LG stand) out far enough to get at the screws on the back of the lid. I found a solution on a UA-cam vdeo - fold a couple of paper towels up into about 2 inch squares, lift up the machine with crowbar enough to put the towels under the front, and jiggle the machine out - it's much easier with the paper towels under it.

    Excellent video and thank god for no music! I never thought of bellows leaking. I just took the top off mine and cleaned up the soap dispenser first and second one. I also found one tiny tube leading to the washing drum had popped out of its hole. I connected it back again. This solved my problem. I will keep bellows in mind and check next time. These videos are so helpful, many thanks!!

    Things are made so poorly any more. That fact that they can't even make a tube that doesn't leak for the life of the machine is pathetic. Thanks for the vid. I've gotta go track down a leak on my

    Thanks for taking the time to do this video. These videos really help. With them I have replaced the water pump, bottom drain hose, and now the hose from the soap dispenser to the drum. Both of the hoses in this LG front loader, after replacing the hoses, I found that they had a manufacturing defect in the molding of the items. Both of them had a material or mold problem that had depressed area where there was not enough material by where the folds are and just split. It took a while to find this leak on this once since the small leak just happens during the dispensing of the items in the detergent cycles.

    Thank you for this video. I've had my machine apart so many times following other UA-cam videos I could do it in my sleep. None of them mentioned checking this particular hose, and that is precisely where the leak is. Now I just have to wait for the part to arrive. Again sir, thank you so much

    Do I scrap my lg washer. It's now leaking. It's not even 4 years old. A repair guy will charge me $6-800 and I mine stacked so extremely hard to work on it. Dryer is bolted to washer. I think I just need to replace. Repair people are a rip off

    Mines leaking from the front left underneath. Right under where the filter is but the filter and little drain hose arent leaking out the front. Anybody know whats right underneath the front left? Basicslly right behind the filter? Going to pull it apart tomorrow thanks to this very helpful video.

    8:15 this is exactly the part that failed on our two year old LG. What I absolutely cannot believe is that I as a layman with no design experience could see what caused the failure. There is a rib that runs around the barrel of the tub that is directly under the lowest part of the rubber hose. And as the tub moves it can touch the hose. And to top it off there is a burr from the molding of the tub on the very top of the rib and there are black flecks of rubber on that burr. The motion of the tub and the crappy design caused the failure. Good news is we caught it early and your video helped us look for the problem and we ordered two to have a backup. Unbelievable.

    • @Sil3nt1985
      @Sil3nt1985 Рік тому

      I had the exact thing happen to me today. I used a razor to knock the burrs off and used a high grain sandpaper to smooth it out. Be careful with cutting, the drum itself is really brittle plastic so it cuts easy.

    My front load LG has never had a leak. Last night I ran a load. I returned to my laundry room completely flooded.
    I started a load today and water immediately started flooding from around the filter. I removed the filter, cleaned gasket and tightened it very tight. I restarted the machine and water flooded out again from around the filter. Do you know what is causing this?

    Thank you for this video. It really was a big help at getting the top and back off my washing machine. I was very intimidated by all the wires and movement of the drum after removing them. So, much so, I waited for my son to arrive to assist me. Luckily he found the issue rather quickly. Mine was a black tube at the top back left side of the machine. It had worked it's way loose and water was gushing out of it whenever I turned the machine on. It took us several times to figure it out though. Man, I'm so thankful it wasn't an expensive fix.

    Should I do the same troubleshooting for a washer that leaks. Even if not being used?

    • @projectfixit
      @projectfixit  10 місяців тому

      Possibly. If your washer is leaking while not being used, you may want to focus on the hoses and hose connections to your washer from the wall and/or the solenoid valves where the washer connects to the hoses.
