Not sure where you got your information about platinum being 3x heavier than gold, but that's not correct. Platinum is actually just slightly more dense than gold (21.45 g/cm3 for platinum vs 19.30 g/cm3 for gold). Maybe you meant to say silver? (that's still not quite correct though, since silver has a density of 10.49 g/cm3 - about half of platinum).
I mis spoke and now I have to listen to the experts school me for the rest of my life lol
As a matter of fact I'm pinning your comment to the top so people might see that I already learned I was incorrect. I have videos from 5 years ago that I'm still being corrected on haha. Thank you for your insights :)
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint cool! Sorry to be "that guy." I just heard it and it bugged me. lol
@@timg2727 No I really appreciate it. For some reason that number got stuck in my head and then I just checked my conversion chart and was like, oh crap lol.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint We are learning together! Grace to you! :)
I love working with platinum so much, it’s so soft and great, and I love that it takes so much heat to melt makes the process even easier. You did a great job! Nice!
Also while you do your soldering try using soldering flux, the brand I use is “Batterns Self Pickling Flux” makes the solder run a lot easier!
Skyler, I have watched ALL of your videos at least 20 times each. I learn something new each time I watch them. You are very creative, not only on the pieces that you make, but on the videos that you produce that captures our attention. I feel very fortunate to be able to share your journey with you, as well as learn exciting new ideas. YOU ROCK!!!
Thanks!
Great job, you are the reason I got into and still making coin jewelry!!!! You are the man!!! Thank you Skyler
Wow that's awesome!
That looks great! Like you said I’m excited to see all the things you’ll do in the finer jewelry area while incorporating the techniques you learned with coin rings!
I love twisted wire rings, and this one is just... So lovely...
I love seeing your videos, they're giving me ideas of how to take care of my excess scraps! I am still quite a few years behind tool wise, but I've got a lathe coming in soon, can't wait to do some spinning rings and inlays.
Maybe add a “Chapter 2” to this one by using the tiny bits you sawed off to make claws so you can mount a nice gemstone on the ring?
Another great video, regardless! 👍
That's a cool idea!
I like your video, so good
That’s simply, elegant, lovely. Fantastic job. Best channel in this genre on UA-cam.
I always appreciate it!
Man that looks awesome
Wow! From a piece of scrap you started with, to the end. So unexpected. Nicely done
Awesome keep doing your great job👍🏻
Fun. Great job.
This is extremely cool. Your creative use of "scrap" is inspiring. Thanks for posting. A+++
Thanks I appreciate it!
Looks good
Could blend multiple strands of different scraps. Gold silver etc.Turned out great
You kept adding coins through that machine and the outcome is great!!!
That was an excellent idea and great use of scrap platinum. I definitely learned something new. Thanks for expanding our scope. Keep the content coming!
Thanks JT I appreciate it. I also appreciate what you do for the coin ring community. I love the interviews you do. it's cool seeing other people's journeys and learning :)
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint your so welcome and thank you, that means a lot.
Love your videos man❤️
Thanks!

Cool machinery.
Thanks!
Keep up the good work. I appreciate you man; i'll take my scrap Pt back, just kidding. Vince R.
Lol!
Cool
Beautiful good luck 👍👍👍👍👍👈
Really nice ring 👍
Are you kidding me, he rolled a giant cold shut into it.
@@Ben-Carr No I am not kidding you
Some of us who know about metals cringe when we see him roll a giant cold shut into the metal.
Parabéns, 👆🏿👍🏻👏👏👏👏
Seems like the ring was re-annealed during the soldering process, but whattaya gonna do? Nice use of a scrap button of platinum. ✌
Yeah I thought that as I was doing it too lol.
Amazing.
Que material (metal) é esse?
Platinum.
Platino.
@@Stepjam1 Thank you very much
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint Thank you very much
What solder did you use for the titanium ring?
I used platinum solder
Thank you!
Scrap. I thought you meant you had something and tore it apart and had scrap leftover. I was like damn! What can I scrap for platinum?!
maybe I should make a video of stealing catalytic converters and making a ring with that lol
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint ha! That’d be wild.
Love your work, BUT that Music is SO irritating!
Keep on the good work!
First.
Gold has almost the same density as platinum, it's 19g/ml vs. 21 g/ml. There is no factor of three there.
Oops you're right. I wonder where I got that number in my head from. Well it's twice as dense as silver lol. That's something haja
I also wonder when rolling cold shuts into metal was a good technique.
I love Jesus too. Wondering if you can make a cross that's 100% silver or close to 100%?
Definitely! Contact me through my website www.changeyoucanwear.net and we can get one made.
