- Honest review of our Bush Company Black Series Max Tent - We have had the tent for 1 year and believe it is the most UNIQUE & VERSATILE tent on the market.
We upgraded from our Kings Adventurer roof top tent and although it is expensive and heavy it is super quick to set up and extremely comfortable. Ideal for traveling around Australia when its boiling hot one day and blowing a gale the next.
We cover set up/ pack down, pros, cons and our modifications.

Best review! Thank you. I plan on picking one up this summer🤙🏾
Glad you enjoyed the review Justin. You will love the tent.
@@a.j.overlanding6995 Hi guys where did you get your door window insulation panels from
@@robertsavvidis8061 Hi Robert sorry for the late reply the insulation on the rear windows is solascreen www.solarscreen.com.au/
Thanks very much really appreciate your time & honestly.
Safe travels thanks again
Great review. Bush Company products look very well constructed. I too have a 120 but the weight does worry me, but love the versatility of the tent. Very detailed, enjoy your travels!
Thanks Dashcoja, in hindsight we might not have got such a heavy tent for our car and agree a lighter option is better suited to the 120. We love the tent though so are looking into ute options.
Brilliant review!
Thanks Matt
Excellent video, thank you!!
Thanks Chris glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks heaps for the awesome honest review! Just wondering how you have mounted the awning to the tent?
Glad you enjoyed the review. We had the bush company mount the awning it bolts with 2 brackets 4 bolts each bracket through the tent frame. On there other models the awnings mount to a channel system but they have not done to that system with the max as of yet.

Great job lady:)
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the Great review . How does the weight affect the handling of the vehicle ?
Thanks Para the weight hasn't held us back on or offroad but it is definitely something to consider and I tend to drive accordingly.

Alex and Justin another good video and what is the height of the Bush Company Black Series Max Tent at the highest point when it is opened?
Hi FurtherUp the Track. According to the bushcompany website the exterior when opened is 1.43m at the rear and 1.39 at the front. Interior is 1.41m and 1.37. Hope that helps.
@@a.j.overlanding6995 Thank you and yes it helped
Nice review. Considering purchasing one myself, however unsure about total weight on the roof. Did you have any issues? (tent + roof platform + persons).
We had no issues but in hindsight it is very much suited to a Ute and canopy set up as it will be above most wagons roof rating.
Part of the solution to the flappy problem is removing the pull tabs from all the zip sliders and replacing with a paracord tab.
No jingling with any kind of movement anymore
Thanks awesome suggestion Adam we will think about doing that to reduce the flap. Currently we are up in northern WA with the windows wide open to get some air so managing to avoid the flap for now.
Heat shrink the zipper tags..
Then you won’t hear them rattle
What roof rack system did you guys use for this roof top tent? (Apologies as I'm new to this stuff) I'm worried about the load rating, have a Prado 150 series as well.
We have a steel flat rack and haven't had any issues. We are looking into some more lightweight mounting systems or moving the tent onto a new car (ute tray mount) not sure on the roof weight specifications for the 150 but it should be in your manual.
@@a.j.overlanding6995 awesome. Thanks for that. I really like the content and hope you guys can continue to grow as a channel!
We’ve had ours for over a year and love, still can’t work out how you guys pull the top down internally, ours is so hard! Any tips? We end up having to do the back first and then climb ontop of the roof to sit on the top to close it down.
Hi Katie, great to hear you guys still love your tent. Odd that yours is so hard internally, does it have the two handles? I just pulled down on those and it came down easily. Perhaps the gas struts have a higher rating so stiffer to pull down?
Yeah I think ours are on the wrong way around 😂🤦♀️ we’ve been camping for over a year having to sit on the top to close it lol, definitely getting this changed asap
Put Ziploc bags into the pockets.
Looking at your car and the stuff on it as cool as it is your about 35 kg over limit
Thanks Mike at the time when we bought the tent and awning we were unaware of the weight issue and at the end of the video we did summarise that the tent is more suited to being mounted on a ute due to the weight. We plan on fixing this soon but have had no issues to date thankfully.

Silicon spray will fix the ladder
Thanks mate 👍 will have a look into that
Sounds like your at an airport
Thanks for the feedback do you have some links too you're videos so we can leave some feedback.
Thanks A&J
Also it's you're
Who would buy it ? Not easy at all.
Thanks for the comment Brett, clearly we love it and bought it. The setup time when we are not filming and there is 2 of us takes under a minute. So pretty easy and versatile in our opinion.
Hi Bret, show us the easy option then please
Hey Brett Brett, what tent are you using?
...........................................................................................This is MADE IN CHINA RTT.
So is your phone. What is your point ?
