My 8 month old not only goes to sleep to this; when I play it for him, he smiles and chuckles before immediately dozing off! I love this song. Magic.
Lyrics!
Driving, in a cold sweat, there is no one, on an icy highway
Northbound, to Alaska, hypothermic, where the sun can't find me
Pistol, in the glove box, with a shot left, in case they come for
Answers, to the questions, only I know, what it is they're after
Gas up, with a credit card, and an alias, that I learned this morning
Dead flies, ‘round the heat lamp, no receipt please, hide face from the camera
Peel out, on a snowbank, but I land it, and I'm back on the highway
Northbound, to Alaska, hypothermic, where the sun can't find me
I can see them, I can hear them, I can feel them, speeding up behind in an
Unmarked, hallucination, in a wilderness, where the law can't hear me
Shouting, begging mercy, on the concrete, while they kick my jaw in
Driving, in a cold sweat, there is no one, on this icy highway
yes
I have not been able to understand, was he fleeing from the police because someone had previously beaten him and he ended up killing him?
I really like this song
@@leonardotorales8411 This song is based on a character that one of the band members wrote up. The character in the story is running from a threat that is never revealed and left to mystery. But he is not running from the police. It's someone or something trying to kill him. The character in the story is fleeing to Alaska through the tundra, and experiences exhaustion, paranoia, and hallucinations while he fights sleep, the elements, and to stay ahead of his pursuers.
Agreed - the entire story appears to be occurring only in his mind - perhaps as he is going into shock from hypothermia- the use of the words “there is no one “ and he is pulled over by an unmarked hallucination - support the entire thing being only in the mind - its a brilliant haunting song with a simple mesmerizing rhythm and melody - very string track - makes me wish it was longer - you don’t want it to end ….great stuff !!
@@zippydinocrash As someone who has spent a lot of time driving snowy blowing roads at night, in rural upper penisula of Michigan, this song perfectly catches that feeling where you are barely awake and slipping between dreams and reality. The way the mind drifts and snaps back, lights get weird in the dark, the snow is hypnotic. Props to the guy who animated it as well, really captures the snow and lights.
Props to you guys, truly a sleeper group. Definitely sent chills up my spine
One of my favorite songs right now. Paired with some colter wall and it’s a good night
If you like this , check out a band from Texas called Ghoultown, song is Bury them deep. They have a very unique sound
check out the battlefield as well. their on the same frequency. especially their song let the morning come
Yes sir
New fan - and wandering Texan who ran off to Alaska for 8 years. ✨✨✨
MORE LIKE THIS I DEMAND IT
amazing track, holy shit
Sooooo good. I’m so bored by bands these days but you guys are absolutely bringing it. Gorgeous, chilling, dynamic but still heavy in spirit without any gimmick. Insanely great lyrics - and nodding to vintage tones and psychedelia without ever being a throwback or retro thing unlike so many groups.
Bravo.
There are few songs that "take you there" as much as this one. It's like a scene in Fargo played out in music, except more vividly. You can almost sense the metal taste of fear while you listen to this song.
The Tool of bluegrass my new favorite band
As a Texan. Who despises the car centric hellscape our politicians built atop the country of freedom. We were sold into a world where freedom relies on your ability to afford your own rolling cage.
I crave the cold. To escape this suburb. I’d rather starve cold with the opportunity to provide for myself than be forced to live as a cog in this horrendous society where we have bred sociopaths who hold money at the highest regard.
Then leave fren. Get a bicycle, go bikepacking. I'm going to. This society sucks
They catch that feeling of traveling alone on the icy night roads. The whirling snow. The way they play with lights, the sunlight & headlights. The weird headspace you get into if you're like me and get literally hypnotized by the snow (not good, almost crashed from it multiple times) that is almost delirium. Especially when you've been on the road for hours and hours.
This is an absolute fucking banger, talk about luck finding this track in time for winter
GN, TX mentions Alaska… Discovery Channel enters the chat
From Russia with love. Masterpiece. We need more.
💯💯💯💯👍🤘
Resist your dictator.

I'm building a whole dnd campaign just off the tone of this song and video
I’d love to hear more about this. It’s such a strong feeling of desperate, unending pursuit and dread, mixed with a blurring of hallucinations and reality. Also I love tabletop.
@@delphineclebblenutch1701 the whole game is set in a frozen city where the magic of the place causes then to see thing in the blizzard like wolves or the faces of their loved ones
This is an absolute mastetpiece! It's the only track I've found that captures the atmosphere of being on the run. Perfect for listening to while writing!
I just wish it was 10 hours long.
Do you think he is on the running, or hallucinating from hypothermia?
I absolutely LOVE this song! It goes on repeat in my car, and is perfect for the snowy, icy weather we have here in Norway this part of the year. Just the sound and the story this song tells is just so amazing! Keep it up guys 😁👌🏻
Dude don't they catch that feeling of traveling alone on the icy night roads? The whirling snow? The way they play with lights, the sunlight & headlights. I've not been into a band since blackberry smokes 'whipporwill' album but goodnight Texas have been my most listened to band on Spotify for three years! Can't wait till they tour the UK!

There’s nothing like driving in a snow storm in the middle of the night on a long road trip in Alaska.
First time I heard this was 2 days after I ran away from home I was sitting in my truck in the woods surrounded by snow high af contemplating life and this song came on it made that moment something I’ll never forget

Abbey Sharp when you say I'm hypothermic instead of I have hypothermia: And I took that personally
This is superb 😍
Love this band ...
As a theoretical unconvicted perpetrator of nefarious deeds, I too, LOVE THIS SONG. An exercise in wrongthink recognition 😂
❤❤❤
good song
This song slams great job
This mv gives me the impression that they only had the copy right of these many assets so there we go
Tremendous gentleman.
Can we get the original files resampled to 4k & uploaded so UA-cam compression doesn't brutalize the high frequency detail in the original video quite as much? It looks like it has some very neat effects that I can barely see because they turn to mush w/ youtubes encoding.
Shut up
Love it. Totally 😱
Love your music!
This song reminds me of going up north to hunt

I still say this song is a tribute to EL Camino
We need a follow up to the story

it got a real Dispatch vibe to it

Breaking Bad El Camino Vibes
cool song, sounds very similar to ozzy's "let it die" though
