  • Mark was a member of a panel, "What's in a Mark?" sponsored by The Marks Project at the 2021 Annual NCECA Virtual Conference.
The panel included Margaret Carney, Beth Gerstein, and was moderated by Judith Schwartz. Each panelist gave a presentation about the marks used to identify a pot.
Mark delves into his history as a member of an industrial pottery-making family in England, his journey into the world of studio pottery, and includes an examination of how pottery backstamps (or marks) reflect social history, power, identity, and the desire for recognition.
