I lived in London and NYC and refused to shop at Hermès because I couldn’t compete. I moved to an East Coast suburbs found a great SA and have gotten my dream Birkin, my dream Kelly, mini Constance and just got offered to do HSS. I did a Birkin but wish I did a kelly. Your baby is so sweet.
That's awesome! You know I joke about moving so I can shop elsewhere. 😂. My real H fairy is at a different store in another state actually but it's 3 hour flight or 11 hr drive if I were to follow her and I just can't do that with my lifestyle

Hi, I have just started my Hermès journey. When I openly asked about how to buy a Kelly, they told me I should make the wish and wait. They advised me to choose at least two colors and two sizes. During the conversation I learned that they tend to make sure that every customer gets at least one bag, to satisfy everyone, which is perhaps why as requests are made it becomes more and more difficult.
Anyway... let’s see how long will it take for me!
Yes definitely they like to make sure every customer gets a bag but each store has a different process. Some use the waitlist/wishlist system and some prefer to offer based on loyalty (shopping) with the store and some use both systems 😊
Holy moly! 2% in Australia!! Wow- had no idea, so interesting. I’m obsessed with everyone’s Hermès journeys because each is so unique. The 3 bags you scored in 2020 are amazing! Even not being a B/K/C , I feel they are still highly sought after... the Heritage leather, the color Craie, and the size 18 Picotin (adorable!). I have learnt so much about Hermes from your videos 🥰. I see other You Tubers and they certainly love the brand but there is a sort of respect and reverence for the brand that I get from you that is unique - I can’t explain it - a sort of feeling that you would sacrifice purchasing from other luxury brands because of it - if that makes any sort of sense. I so hope you get an offer of the Birkin or Kelly soon as you certainly deserve it. I have to say that I am shocked that your other bag spend doesn’t count - I have so mixed feelings about this Hermes ‘game’ - I understand it keeps it exclusive but any other company couldn’t get away with what they do - you’re willing to spend thousands and they won’t let you and you have to spend it on other stuff first - it’s bizarre 🤪 xxx
oh yes 100% i do sacrifice what i would spend on other brands to shop hermes, and i dont do it because i feel obligated to spend at Hermes i do truely love their items and very passionate about the house. Just that money doesnt grow on trees so even if there are items from other brands i like my preference generally always is with hermes especially for leather goods and silks.
The hermes process is interesting and painful. but if they didnt do it they wouldnt generate enough revenue because they cant make enough birkin and kellys since they take 48 hours per bag to make. an artisan has to train 5-6 yrs before making a birkin or kelly. Since Hermes wont compromise on quality (like LV and Chanel has done so with assembly line processes) they simply wouldnt make as much money in their slow process so of course they have to push other items too. also the artisans need to train on making other items so the house has the strategy to need to sell those other items as well.
Mel, I have wondered why people say bags don’t count on your profile??? I have heard lots of people say this, I know that people say their SAs have said they need to spend like 10k between bag offers. It generally seems like they use that as a mechanism in competitive stores. But I’m not sure about bags not counting on your profile. Money spent is money spent. I have also heard the commission model with hermes is spread across the store which incentivizes the SAs to sell.
It depends on your store. It's well known amongst clients here that bags don't count as spend to your quota but it's still desirable on your profile because it also indicates you don't only chase b/K/C. Countries differ and stores differ that's why it's never a one size fits all with Hermes.

I feel scared to start my Hermes journey in NYC. The Madison Ave store is not well known for customer service. Right now 2021, they are taking appointments to shop inside the store.
You could always go in a few times only buy something very small like a Lipstick or body deodorant or perfume until U find the SA U feel comfortable with.
That being said I have a big update in regards to my Hermes experience and I can totally understand why U would be scared cos I haven't had a pleasant experience either. But I do think the great thing about US is that there are more stores it may be better to consider another store if you don't feel comfortable at that one.

Will DM you on IG but i feel the picotin because clemence leather and has no additional leather lining makes it the most susceptible of all bags to impressions and indentations.

Would you buy a Kelly, Birkin or Constance from a different boutique? From a different sales associate in a different boutique. I am in the US and they see where you buy.
Of course there is nothing wrong with shopping at other stores however U still are only allowed 2 B or K per calendar year (unless Ur a VVIP/elite)

To be fair not ALL liners do that. Mono luxury in the U.K. so amazing liners probably better than anyone else. I do think it’s fair to be fair to all brands. One issue with some of the currently liners is pockets on the outside also mark the bags so you would need to be careful I have 2 different liners for my picotin no problems
That's fair enough however I have tried 3 different felt inserts for my birkins and Kelly's in 2017-2018. One company that makes linen inserts and another that does satin. And out of all I'm still standing by the fact the 7rp makes the absolute best out of all I have ever experienced. All other inserts there was always something disatisfying about them whether it be the impression marks, making the bag capacity smaller, pushing the bottom of the bag out and so forth. So I would say I am being very fair in terms of sharing my honest experience because I have tried 6 different brands in 4years only to be the most pleased by 7rp by far. And I don't wish to waste any more money trialling any more it just becomes wasteful to my wallet and the environment too

Is that correct that when you go into store to make a “wish” for a Birkin, you only get offered some few colors to chose among? I got offered orange and some pink and purple along with grey shades. But what if I like blue or red?🤔
It really depends. Some stores will reserve only their most desirable colours for regular clients i.e. neutrals but then some stores may have anything on the table. Usually you don't even get to choose between bags/specs typically it's a matter of the SA picking one bag to offer you. And if it's not for you , you can decline and continue waiting for the one you want

No I got rid of it actually I stopped using it after a few uses because it was pushing out the bottom curve of the bag and Clemence leather stretches very easily. I only recommend 7rp inserts for the very reason that they don't cause any stretching of the leather

On your next SA, you should find out who has worked there for years and ask for that SA to work with.
I was with an SA who been there for 10yrs but she got a promotion and became too busy and started to brush me off lol so I had to change..she was my 2nd SA.. so It was my first and third SA that were my "H fairies"

Yes that's definitely correct I have mentioned it many times. I do have items on my wishlist that are fine jewellery but not wanting to buy them this year it's my plan for after my next quota bag to address that component of my wishlist 😊
Mel, I’m pretty much in the same situation as yours. I shop at Sydney boutique and total spend(not include bag) is at 13K. The worst part is I’m not click with my SA and feel pressured every time I went in. I’m consider changing an SA soon, hopefully this will change my Hermès journey. Good luck Mel. Awww that's not good to hear that U feel pressured... I have been in that situation before I changed SA I think I had spent 3k then I changed. But at 13k that's really tricky... I think best to wait it out and hope U get an offer early next year after increase when usually lots of offers start to happen. 🧡
Hey, Mel. I share the same passion for the house like you. In Singapore where I am based, bags aren't counted towards getting quota bags like BKC too. Last year, I started my H journey buying their non-quota bags like Picotin 18, Lindy 26, Herbag 31, Bolide 27, Garden Party 30, mini Evelyne, Toolbox 20c, mini Roulis, etc., apart from silk scarves and twillies. I only started considering BKC this year and got offered Kelly 28 and mini Constance at my local stores. Hermes isn't just about BKC bags. Their heritage is so rich and craftsmanship second to none. This year, I have become obsessed with their tableware and are also dipping my toes in RTW. Everyone's journey is different. It's not fair to compare with other countries like US where stocks are plentiful but prices so much higher because of the tax. Your Bolide 27 in craie is such a rare score. My C18 is in craie too and my SA had to fight so hard for this highly coveted colour. It's not a compromise. The detractor who left such unkind remarks obviously doesn't know the brand well enough. Hope you score your next dream bag soon! 😉
Yes 100% Jenny! Hermes isn't just about b/K/C I actually find it insulting when I watch videos bloggers who say they buy the bags because they love the brand but yet they only own b/K/C not another one of Hermes beautiful bags in their collection... 😠

actually canada is quite comparable to Aus! i know alot of canadians who have same experience as me due to lack of stores. very typical to need to spend 1:1 or more depending the specs you are asking for.

I haven’t started my Hermes journey yet as I won’t be able to get to my nearest boutique until early next year (Brisbane). But I have quite the list of items I want, I’ll be sticking to the homewares, equestrian, ready to wear & jewellery until I get an offer for my dream Constance 18, then I’ll worry about getting the other bags & SLG’s I want. I think I might be one of the few people who really doesn’t mind Hermes’ games. I can obviously imagine the frustration when you would like multiple quota bags in your collection, but it is what it is. Like you, I’ve just fallen in love with the brand & it’s heritage & know I probably won’t be all that interested in any other brands once I start my own Hermes journey. It probably helps that there is only 1 quota bag (C 18) that I would like sooner rather than later, after that I’m more than happy to wait for however long it takes for a B 30, but TBH, I’ll probably be happy enough with a garden party 30 instead.
Brisbane is good! My previous H fairy is there. If I could travel regularly I probably would have stayed with her since she has such a rich heritage with the brand having grown up with it

I’m lucky I’ve got a good SA at my store (Manchester ), but outside of London we have 1 other store in the U.K. I haven’t shopped in a London Hermès in years but the last time they were just rude!! Wish 7rp did inserts for the Jypsiere
I didn’t have to spend loads before getting my Kelly 32 & before my last Birkin was 10 years earlier!!! My current SA I’d only bought a Evelyne 33 from her before getting my Kelly
thats great! some people have a wonderful journey. actually though if i wanted a K32 my SA said i can have that whenever i want but i want a neutral or rose sakura K25/B25...just too much demand for the bags i am asking for unfortunatelty.

I’m so sorry to hear about your journey hun. I think it also has to do with your store & SA (edit: Yes, it is up to the store manager but what I learned privately is that *sometimes* if your SA really fights for you & is persistent & convincing when vouching for you... they can actually talk their manager into approving the “bag offer” regardless what you spent in total. Just a little inside info I was given. I hope it helps somewhat.) I am fortunate with my SA after hearing everyone else’s stories. I felt so bad when you mentioned the ppl who scored their bags so quickly, because I am one of them 😔. Just a little info on what I’ve purchased so far within the past few months which scored me the holy grail croc is buying from houseware & fine jewelry. So when you mentioned you didn’t buy from those categories... it could also be why (many different variables... again depending on your store, location, etc...). I’m in CA where there’s an abundance of wealthy people as well. Competition is fierce.. 😣 I too have friends in the Hermes scene long before I joined who are still waiting after 2 years. I was truly intimidated at first but I’m glad I gave it a shot anyway. I haven’t spent the 6 figures rumored to be required to score an exotic, but I know my SA really vouched for me hard to get an approval. Mind you, we barely met this year in June. We have the best rapport & we have an unspoken trust. I really wish you score another dream bag soon. You deserve it!
my first SA was the kind that vouched for me irregardless of spend, she was the best. my third (worked with since Aug 2018) plead for me based on the fact i was on the waitlist since sept 2017 for that bag spec (b30 neutral) so she managed to get the offer for me Jan 2019. my current SA however nice and i get along with isnt the same as those other 2 SA's that got me my bags i think she isnt a big fighter and follows the standard store rule (buy fine.j and homewares OR be a new client), however she has managed to get me some rare bags since our store SUCKS for stock lol. like really SUCKS hahaha ask anyone in sydney and its rare to get a Bolide 27 at all, mini roulis is very scarce at our store especially in barenia there have only been 2 this year and i got 1, also Picotin GHW with bleu pale its the only one we ever got in store and i managed to get it! but i know the SM will approve the offer for next year after increase thats typically what happens at the store for regular clients bag offers usually come at start of yr Jan-April.
Purseonfleek My buddy said the same thing about her SM usually approving the following year after increase for her. She said it happens like clockwork now. She’s been shopping there for over 12 years and went through 4 diff SA’s (they either quit or move). She has it worse at her store because it’s in Beverly Hills off the famous Rodeo Dr. Following you, I now know that if I happen to visit AU someday, which I will because I do have family there, I won’t hold my breath in trying to score anything LOL 😭 My friend in Florida said it’s easier over there. She said she noticed many of her out of country or out of state family & friends actually scoring a bag their first try or at least their 2nd try. Once Covid is over I’ll visit to try my luck there. They have a new store I believe. Hawaii is also another easy place I heard from friends and family. I’ll let you know how I fare over there. ♥️

Great video. Thanks for sharing your Hermes journey. My partner and I go for big bags - the HACs and birkin /Kelly 40s. Hence probably less competition. Very fascinated by the concept of what spend counts towards the Birkin/Kelly tally. Did you say bags usually don't count towards the BKC tally?
oh yes bigger bags are less competitive! i wish i could pull off even a B35 but it looks like a travel bag on me. in my country bags dont count towards spend this is typical in asia too. but in US they kind of count

But I have the same journey as you, I’m from Southeast Asia so we get less bag (the quota is only one bag per year). The pandemic makes it even worse, I’m already spending 20k AUD this year including fine jewelry, shoes, twillys, small leather goods, etc and still no bag in sight 😭 Still standing strong and waiting patiently for a bag here.
Sadly I have heard this is common in Asia and typical one bag per year like here in Aus unless you drop over 30k in purely desirable categories... Sucks for us doesn't it 😩

Thank you for sharing the numbers. There is no problem to spend that much if you truly like the items you are purchasing. Which seems to be the case with you. But some people out there are « playing the games » and they buy stuff they don’t like (sometimes it’s so obvious when you see them unboxing them) that they will never use like ashtray if you are not a smoker etc... lol just because they ONLY want the birkins and the Kelly like it’s some kind of trophey or status shower (don’t know what’s the correct word in English but you get the idea I guess). I personally refuse to play that game (buying useless things or things I don’t like) and I will only purchase the things I truly like, like some of their shoes, home wear, perfumes, scarves, some of their bags (like the bolide,...) if my wallet allows it which is not the case at the moment. Lol TFS ✨
100% agree with U! I cannot stand the whole buying of Hermes b/K/C just for status. What I hate is when I watch bloggers say"oh I love the brand that's why I buy them" yet they don't own any other Hermes bag just Birkin/Kelly/constance.... Like c'mon the house makes so many beautiful bags yet you say you love the brand but only buy the top tier bags ? I wish my spend on other bags counted because there are so many bags from Hermes I want to buy I'll be uploading a video later in the year of all my favourite understated (essentially non b/K/C) bags from Hermes 😊

yes alot of stores in USA are similar but there are a few in those tourist locations that are different and some people dont think about that fact.

I find your spend and belief that it's needed shocking!!!! I have 5 birkins (including a special order) and 2 kellys and a constance and one evelyn. ALl purchased within 4-5 years. The only miscelanious stuff I bought in that time frame is probably 2 click clacks and 2 belts and a silver bracelet collier de chien thin bracelet, silver collier de chien ring for my daughter. I also got a Kelly at the Paris flagship store on a walk in with no appt and no history. Ive also had 3 different SA's at my store. The last SA and I get along really well and she's called me without asking with black kelly, gold 30 birkin, special order birkin and Orange 18 constance. My guess is if you seem like an Hermes customer, they will treat you like an Hermes customer.
My first and second SA especially my second treated me very different and they felt like a genuine friend. However I thought that would be the same with my current SA as we get along but seems it's just a case of another "number" in the store. However Sydney Melbourne are extremely competitive as there are only 3 stores in all of Australia
