This is great! I really appreciate how Brad would pause after getting a question and really do his best to give an honest and fair answer. This is the first love/hate video I've watched from TFL and I'll be looking for more now!
I’m on my 3rd F-150 & zero issues across the board. Normal wear & tear. This guy’s feedback still helps, because all vehicles are prone to issues. My buddy’s $100K BMW 6-series has been plagued w/ issues, so premium prices are no guarantee of escaping issues.
Hey Brad, very nice looking truck. Good luck on this one. You are a loyal Ford guy and have a passion for your truck. TFLtruck: do more of these videos.
I agree. After my issues with F-150 Super"screw," I would never buy a Ford again. From Dealer, Ford, and Service were horrible. The only thing I got out of it was that is, it was only a 2wd. When I traded it in at GM for a 2500hd 4x4 with the 8.1 and the dealer thought it was 4x4. I was wonder why the Trade in was so high. Called me the next day. He goes I didn't realize it was a 2wd, I gave you a trade in for a 4x4. His boss was pissed. I said I was sorry. I did buy a Denali SUV from him a couple years later to make up for it. I didn't get so lucky with the Ford Exploder Limited with the 5.0 because of all the roll over issues at the time.

@@the_reaper_fpv I agree with the quality control comment, my 19 Mustang's panel gaps are less than impressive to say the least! Yeah but doesn’t matter if it’s small problems. A problem and a failure of a feature or tech is still a problem because it is not working. The price for this truck and going through all those raptors yet still going back to it I just would not be able to do. I would’ve been totally done and never look at another raptor again. Most dealerships are grossly understaffed if you complain they basically ban you from the dealership. Then tell you your fired.
Great series. The true issues of ownership. It is sad that Ford can’t improve quality control. I love these trucks but those issues are all unacceptable. Roman, you should do a video on the freezing doors on the F-150s. It is a huge issue.
Slow 50 i was thinking the same thing, the price these things go for there shouldn't be any issues minor or otherwise. In my experience electrical issues can be the worst to try and track down. I've had a Chevy that had electrical issues after electrical issues and a dodge. I would much rather plan on spending a couple grand to rebuild a transmission after 100k than chase electrical issues again.
Man, great segment. Thanks for the honesty of the buyer. This is my dream truck and i would be disappointed to have these issues but just like the buyer, I believe there is nothing else like this truck out there. Current F150 owner here....Ford. Year 1 Build it wrong. Year 2 Build it wrong. Year 3 Build it wrong. Year 4 Get it right! Year 5 Build something else and get it wrong. The best ford's I've owned or used at work were built 12 to 18 months before a complete redisign.
@@trentimus5700 Yeah ford has always been the most innovative of the big three but that is also they're flaw too. GM stick with stuff a lot longer build quality is no better though maybe worse
I guess I don’t understand this. He had thousands of dollars worth of issues on the previous Raptor… And then bought another new one? Which already in 1 to 2 months of ownership has three “minor” issues? This is exactly why you should buy based on quality, not brand loyalty. I can appreciate his honesty, though.

Todd Wright and others: I agree that this could be the best interview I've seen from Roman. This Man was very composed and honest and thorough in sharing his valuable experience. I would like to see more of this. On a side note: Roman could speak even less. There was a moment when the owner was speaking of the squat when towing and was about to relate it something, but we'll never be sure exactly what he was going to say since Roman spoke over him. Still, best job I've seen yet and this piece was rich with info.
kcolmeh62 - I was going to mention that the squat does not bother me nor does it seem to affect its towing ability. Finally I was going to mention that active cruise control is a really nice feature when towing. It allows you to easily draft a large vehicle without worrying about rear ending them or constantly adjusting your speed to match theirs. I’ve used the back up assist once. I found it cumbersome to use. It was quicker to just back up the old fashion way. I suppose for some that have trouble backing up they might find it more useful.
I love my 2018 Raptor. Best vehicle I have ever owned. Only issue so far was a static electricity buildup problem that was fixed before I took it home.
I just bought a 2019 Raptor. I've got over 1,000 miles on it and so far so good. I love it! The new Fox suspension is wonderful. The way he talked about it makes it sound like he picked it. Raptors are typically not custom ordered by a customer. Dealerships are allocated so many Raptor orders a year depending on sales. Some dealerships could have 5+ a year, another could have 1-2, and some may be allocated 0 unless they were to trade for one with another dealership. You pretty much have to pick what is on the lot, on the way to the dealer lot, or at another dealer unless you catch a dealership that is in the process of ordering one. Or, you make an agreement prior to the dealer ordering one of their allocations.
@@cycler11 You can custom order them, but anticipate a long lead time. It's what I did, and came in at a great price than buying direct from the dealer.
Great video series, no offence but this is why i stay with my older trucks. I have a 2000 super duty v10 crew cab. Bought it in 2008, I'm the second owner, only 2 small issues with it( easy fixes) in over 10 years. Love it.
S 1 in Pennsylvania (laws vary) I had one vehicle in the shop for >45 days where they installed 2 new engines (first one didn’t fit). The law is pretty clear and the attorney basically does this in and out every day so the car companies have dedicated people to handle these things. It’s incredible how efficient the process went. By the time I contact the lawyer to the time I had a result was about 10 days. My lawyer asked what I wanted. Told me what I’d most likely get. Bottom line is that in my situation My lawyers negotiated with Ford (instead of suing them) and I got a check for $6000 or what was 100% of what I paid into my car at that time. If the issue is severe enough, all options up to a full buyback are on the table. All in all it was almost too easy.
Red pilled patriot First was a 2003 Ford Explorer. The second was a 2007 Saturn Outlook. Man I loved that Outlook but it started misfiring and the mechanics and dealership were extremely helpful and transparent both times. I was kept up to date every day and I think the mechanics felt really bad because (with the Saturn) they could not diagnose the issue even when the rep and tech expert from GM came in. That’s the big thing to remember - the dealer is not the bad guy. The dude in this video exemplifies how calm to be in these situations.
A motor to adjust steering wheel, kind of says it all . Modern vehicles are far too complex, someone decided this is possible but no one thought do we need to do this?
Eric Ortiz sooooo youd let it just sit broken or what?? its under warranty so let ford pay the $10,000 repair bill. 1 year is outside the lemon period.

I'm one of the few lady viewers but I enjoyed this video. I bought a new 2018 Raptor back in September or October(can't remember) and absolutely LOVE it! Hoping I can enjoy it with few problems for the next 10 years or so.
Everybody talks about how good Toyota’s reliability is but I had a 2013 Tundra and had nothing but problems with it. I eventually had to ‘law it and got a 2017 raptor and haven’t had a single problem with it.
Well, I have a very early 2018. My dealer said it was the 9th 2018 off the line. Got it in August of 2017. Oxford White Super Cab, no decals, no carbon fiber, no orange on seats and no sun roof. I omitted those on my "2017" order NOT to save money, I just don't dig those things. EVERYTHING else I got. Let me find some wood to knock on; so far I am SUPER HAPPY with it. I have made no mods. It is GREAT off road, of course (kind of wide for WV trails). I tow frequently with 3,500# single axle fully loaded + trailer and you really can't tell its there. I usually run regular fuel, no problem. I did not know about the update for Synk, so I will NOT be doing that. GOOD JOB GUYS!
On the other hand, I would like to say how good my Raptor is when I did the 2017 Baja 1000 all the way to Cabo San Lucas Mexico, (1400 miles offroad averaging 35mph) it is just one guy story, it does not reflect all Raptors owners experience just to interview one opinion and experience doesn't give it balance in view of the truck real hard work.
I have had 2 of them now.. first was a 2017 and current one is 2019.. not a single problem with either of them except a few small recalls. I love mine and as soon as they put a v8 in them again, I will be getting that one and likely keeping this 2019 for my son to drive.
@@GrayGhostDog1 hey, thanks! We've been in dire need of one for years...they opened up back in September, but promptly got rained out for 5 months straight. I did the very first lap on the track...awesome place to run!
Love my 18 raptor minus the recalls. Went in the ditch on the way home from the Chicago auto show and drove right back out. We also pulled a gal out of the ditch. Eventful day!
G M I agree. It’s unfortunate FORD is still lacking in quality control. At this price point the warranty should be 4yrs/50k. Now that demand has cooled the huge ADM’s by dealerships is over. Sadly, the Gen2 Raptor will not hold the value like the Gen1 has.
Eh, has happened to about 0.05% of Gen 2s at this point. 20k trucks made, so it will seem like a lot. Toyota is ten years old at this point so it would be embarrassing if it didn't have issues sorted.
Carcaine-Toyota sells well? Maybe there cars. What do they sell like 25,000 Tundra's a year? They don't even make a heavy duty truck. The Tacoma sells because none of the big 3 had a mid size/compact truck out until the GM Twins a few years ago. The Tacoma is on the list for least reliable vehicles so I'm not sure what you're talking about. 🤔
Glad to hear you have not had the issue. The issue for me started around 15,000 miles. Reading information online, Ford changed to the improved components sometime around the time you bought yours.
There are different brackets for hanging the Rigid pod lights VS top mount. I had to buy them for my Raptor, good part is they are very inexpensive and good quality. And FYI- never mount Rigid lights upside down due to a breather at the bottom.
That’ guy does seem pretty cool. I always wondered if my 03 fx4 supercrew with 5.4 was getting horrible mpg towing. He has a ten speed and gets 8-10. My truck gets the same so I don’t feel so bad now lol.
someone whos in the market for a raptor would not even ever look in the general direction of a tundra, let alone buy one! LMFAO! the percentage of people that actually have problems with these is so small that its not even worth noting, go on any forum, most enthusiasts and people that aren't idiots haven't really had any issues with them. Toyota doesn't offer anything that competes with the raptor.
I would rather own a 1794 edition Tundra than this Raptor. The Raptor looks good but if I purchased a 70k truck I should have zero problems. If I do you better stick me in the same truck while mine is in your shop for 7 weeks.
2017 raptor owner here, it has 30000km and have none of the issues mentioned in the video except rear parking sensor got faulty in icy weather and terrain system got some failures when sprinting over 150km/hr high speed on icy and snowy road. Besides these software errors, it also has recalls for minor things like back seat buckle, front door seal and some wiring. Conclusion: Is it a perfect truck? No it isn’t. Is it a capable off road sport luxury truck? The best on the market so far.
And then you will have a tow truck with a V-8. The 7.3 is a torque engine not a race engine. Ford had 534 CI truck engines in the 70's and they were not performance engines.
Thank you @TFL. We really need honest interviews like this. Really thankful to the owner. Don't get me wrong, this is not to say don't buy Raptor. This is really helpful to understand the issues owning one.
I got 75k on my 2014, I bought it new with 12 miles total on it, only issues I have had were my rear defroster went out, and my trailer outlets stopped working, all replaced under ESP, no issues out side of general maintenance, truck has been great the whole time. I want to trade it in, but at the same time, why, the truck has been rock solid and I dont want to end up with a truck that does have issues.
Love this series, great to see the trucks in the real world with the owners. Don't think I would have bought another one after that experience though. Hope the new one treats you better.

Somewhere in an alternate universe there’s a Raptor with a Ram interior and Ram boxes. Nowhere in an alternate universe has the TRX happened yet. 😆 This is a great series. Thanks guys.
I wouldn't mind getting a 2013 or 2014 Raptor for much cheaper than a Gen 2, but the interior is the deal breaker for me. The interior for F-150's up till 2014 look so outdated to me.
@@cityfans5723 I own both a 14 F150 and 18 Raptor. Interior is very similar, actually I barely notice unless parked. That Gen1 will hold value for years to come too!

Now I just hope they don’t F up the Defender. Cause I’ve considering the Raptor as my next ride if LR Fs up the Defender, but will have to see. Great show and thanks to dude for honesty.
The bedmat looks exactly like the Bedrug Bedmat... the bed tool boxes are Ford-branded Undercover Swingcases... I guess it doesn't matter, but Rigid lights' lettering in bumper openings are upside-down and if like Baja Designs' lights should be able to remove front faceplates and easily reorient... I would like to know if Brad's Baja Designs S2 lights at rear bumper are both tapped into reverse lights and controlled when needed via upfitter switch...
Jay T. - You are correct about the bed mat and tool boxes. Ford just rebranded them. I didn’t want to break the factory lens seal by rotating them. I need to research it before doing it. Just want to be sure it doesn’t create issues with water getting in. Rear S2s are controlled by an up fitter switch. They are real bright so there are times I don’t want them on while backing up. Also there are times I want them on when trailering but not in reverse.
@@bradborkowski3236 ... excellent. I may do the same with the BD S2's at rear bumper. I have 4 Squadrons/2 S2's in the front bumper openings running on 2 upfitter switches ... Brad Borkowski Good thing Brad I have the same Ridged Lights and if you open them up it voids their lifetime warranty I got reverse mounting brackets sent to me when I bought my lights
I have yet to tow with my Gen 1 with a trailer, however I have taken it though mountain highways with a motorcycle in the back and experienced it jumping back and forth in gears. Maybe I should have tried using the toe button it comes with, but what I ended up doing to combat that issue is when you are in the automatic mode, press the down in the gears and it will basically lock the truck from jumping to whatever gear you don't want it to go to. In my case I just locked it out from 6th gear and the ride was fine.
I watched this back in April. Never dreamt that the next time I watched it I’d have a 2019! I like his mods but I think the front bumper has got to go. Of course that means replacing the intercooler which means tuning so it kind of snowballs.
Adam S - I would enjoy that. Love to talk about all vehicles, no matter the make/model. Might have to have a few Fireball shots too. Let me know if you are in the Johnstown CO area.
Personally I would not acknowledge on video that I have a tune on an engine still in warranty. I probably wouldn’t give it a tune either for that matter.
I've had a few issues with my 2019 raptor super crew as well! I picked it up New Year’s eve and have driven the truck all of 5 to 6 days since owning it. First issue was the O2 sensor needing to be replaced. Followed by two trips to the dealership because they couldn’t figure out why the 4x4 wasn’t working, forward collision warning was coming on, adaptive cruise was malfunctioning, and I was experiencing a loss of power/shifting issues. At one point, it was so bad, I got passed by a Ford Focus going up the hill to the Sundance ski resort because 4x4 wasn’t engaging! You know you’re having issues when a 70k truck can’t make it up the mountain but a Focus can. 😂 They replaced one of the controller modules, still no relief. Took it back in and they found that the bolt for the ground had been painted over so they ground the paint off of that, still had issues and took it in two weeks ago to get the wire harness replaced and the adaptive cruise module replaced. Picking the truck up today and hoping everything is good! It was beast in the snow for the short bit I got to use the 4x4 properly but I’ve definitely experienced a lot of problems. I have a friend with a 2017 and he has also had to have the O2 sensor and wire harness replaced but after all the problems, I still can't see owning anything other than a Raptor when it comes to owning a truck... Except for when the Tesla truck comes out. haha
That's shitty YMI but hopefully no other problems! As far as your Tesla truck it will be announced in 2020, released 2023, with $5k deposit you will take delivery 2031!
So you had a Raptor with a jacked up engine. Fixed under warranty after almost 2 months of down time. Then you get rid of that, buy *another* 2018 Raptor, and then stick aftermarket intake and a tune on it...more than likely voiding the warranty...makes sense. Must have a lot of faith in the “late production” 2018...
I was thinking the same thing, this truck already has a solid tune... not point and messing around with the motor more risking a voided warranty and further damage. I'm wondering if him running the tune on the previous truck led to the damaged motor...
Loved the video. One question I had is about the Toy Hauler you have. A lot of what I have read is that the toying capacity for the Raptor is 8000 lbs. What Toy Hauler do you have that you are able to load up a bike(s) and be under weight? Thanks!

Well yeah you’re racing and going out of state with it. You’re actually using the truck !! Most people will buy this thing and drive around town and take it on occasional camping/trail trips. Gas wouldn’t be a issue then lol
@@percy9835 They have shitty mileage for a v6 and you need to to use premium to get full power so lots of money in fuel lol

This is great! I really appreciate how Brad would pause after getting a question and really do his best to give an honest and fair answer. This is the first love/hate video I've watched from TFL and I'll be looking for more now!
This guy is very cool
Yep-nice guy and great info. Still love The Raptor. Grey's my favorite color. 👍
I’m a 2018 second gen Raptor for almost a year and I have 0 issues. I often use it what it’s built for and nothing has broken. I love my Raptor!
Had my 2010 since new with no issues 9 years and couldn't be happier
@@jaytrock3217 , How is the 2500HD and Denali doing over time? Was the same salesman still working at the dealer when you got the Denali?

Brad Borkowski hey Brad, new Raptor owner here, 2019. How does the Baja lights affect the rear view camera at night? I appreciate your honest review.
Those are not small problems on a brand new $70k truck, I think I would have been done with ford after the last raptor
Other than the cam phasers they are minor problems.
Had numerous issues with my dodge charger and pontiac g6. Never had an issue with my Honda civic or subaru crosstrek. I love american cars but the quality control is complete shit and they just don't care
@@the_reaper_fpv I agree with the quality control comment, my 19 Mustang's panel gaps are less than impressive to say the least!
Although I myself have fixed them they should never leave the factory this way, especially when it's a simple adjustment.

Yeah but doesn’t matter if it’s small problems. A problem and a failure of a feature or tech is still a problem because it is not working. The price for this truck and going through all those raptors yet still going back to it I just would not be able to do. I would’ve been totally done and never look at another raptor again. But that doesn’t matter. This man obviously has a love and passion for raptors and chooses to keep buying them no matter what problems occur and it’s his money and choice and more power to him. Hopefully this one doesn’t have any other problems and he can be happy with it stress free for its entirety.

If you have an issue they will not return any calls.

The best ford's I've owned or used at work were built 12 to 18 months before a complete redisign.
It's really key with how frequently Ford changes stuff. They constantly change shit, so there is no telling if it's proven yet.
@@trentimus5700 Yeah ford has always been the most innovative of the big three but that is also they're flaw too. GM stick with stuff a lot longer build quality is no better though maybe worse
Absolutely love that bed mat. Nice job on keeping your mods simple and not in your face like a lot of people.
Such a nice guy. Great to hear from an actual owner. Thanks
Lemons happen with any vehicle. 0.05% of all Gen 2s have had engine rebuilds at this point.
@@T4nkcommander Wanna post your source for those number? I'd be interested to read about it.
Also, you missed the point. If I had an experience like that (which I have previously), I would not be buying that specific model again (which I didn't... 2004 Wrangler; clutch shattered during everyday driving, destroyed the ring gear backing out of a parking spot, climate controls caught fire, went through 3 sets of tie rod ends, broke a knuckle... all by 40,000 miles. Probably a lemon, but I definitely wasn't buying another of that generation).

Great vid and the owner really cool guy. Thanks for sharing. Still have my 2013 gen 1 Raptor and love it.
I just bought a 2019 Raptor. I've got over 1,000 miles on it and so far so good. I love it! The new Fox suspension is wonderful. @@jamesdempsey5702 I was in the same situation and for me it came down to price. The dealer wouldn’t budge a cent off MSRP+++ on the raptor, on the limited I was able to get X-Plan pricing so that sealed the deal for me. Had it 3 years now and it’s a beautiful truck, good luck !
Did he just said, that he spent over $2000 on stickers? The dealers must love this guy!
They were already on it = free
The way he talked about it makes it sound like he picked it. Raptors are typically not custom ordered by a customer. Dealerships are allocated so many Raptor orders a year depending on sales. Some dealerships could have 5+ a year, another could have 1-2, and some may be allocated 0 unless they were to trade for one with another dealership. You pretty much have to pick what is on the lot, on the way to the dealer lot, or at another dealer unless you catch a dealership that is in the process of ordering one. Or, you make an agreement prior to the dealer ordering one of their allocations.
He said how much the stickers cost. They are an option. They are not free lol
Love it.
Dude should have lemon law’d the thing. 30+ days in the shop = open n shut case. Source: I did it twice.
@ Bruce Criscuolo,I'm contemplating it, thank you.
Bruce Criscuolo do they just give you a new one?
Bruce Criscuolo what cars or trucks?
Red pilled patriot First was a 2003 Ford Explorer. The second was a 2007 Saturn Outlook. Man I loved that Outlook but it started misfiring and the mechanics and dealership were extremely helpful and transparent both times. I was kept up to date every day and I think the mechanics felt really bad because (with the Saturn) they could not diagnose the issue even when the rep and tech expert from GM came in.
That’s the big thing to remember - the dealer is not the bad guy. The dude in this video exemplifies how calm to be in these situations.
Rebuilt by the dealership would get a hard pass by me.
The motor on steering wheel adjuster not the truck engine.
Yup
A motor to adjust steering wheel, kind of says it all . Modern vehicles are far too complex, someone decided this is possible but no one thought do we need to do this?
Eric Ortiz sooooo youd let it just sit broken or what?? its under warranty so let ford pay the $10,000 repair bill. 1 year is outside the lemon period.
Yeah because the factory did such a great job, if the factory didn't fail I'd be out of a job. That's all I do, that being fix factory perfection failures.

Way too many issues for a new high-end truck. $70,000 for known issues? This is why Toyota sells so well.

I agree. It’s unfortunate FORD is still lacking in quality control. At this price point the warranty should be 4yrs/50k. Now that demand has cooled the huge ADM’s by dealerships is over. Sadly, the Gen2 Raptor will not hold the value like the Gen1 has.
Honda over Toyota anyday

Hard to tell what bracket he's got. The Raptor lights bracket mounts them from the bottom with Rigid facing the correct way.
There are different brackets for hanging the Rigid pod lights VS top mount. I had to buy them for my Raptor, good part is they are very inexpensive and good quality.

Good thing Brad I have the same Ridged Lights and if you open them up it voids their lifetime warranty I got reverse mounting brackets sent to me when I bought my lights
fyabugblah - would you please elaborate more on the reverse brackets you mention? Are they from Rigid? Thanks in advance!
Great truck! Best of best. Worth every cent. Go Ford! #truckdominance
70K and "minor problems"! there should be NO issues after 2 months! NONE...especially for 70K!
I watched this back in April. Never dreamt that the next time I watched it I’d have a 2019! I like his mods but I think the front bumper has got to go. Of course that means replacing the intercooler which means tuning so it kind of snowballs.
awesome video and truck
This was a very enjoyable video. I bet Brad would be a fun guy to sit in the garage and hammer down a 6 pack of beer with.
@Chris Jacobs A PCM tune voids a powertrain warranty
They replaced one of the controller modules, still no relief.
@@bushwiickbill4417 Hahaha You're probably right about the Tesla truck but I'll keep my fingers crossed!
OnTheReelFishing I was thinking the same thing. You’d that a factory tuned performance Raptor would be good enough for most dudes.
I was thinking the same thing, this truck already has a solid tune... not point and messing around with the motor more risking a voided warranty and further damage. I'm wondering if him running the tune on the previous truck led to the damaged motor...
I've had my 18 since december as well. But my raptor has had 0 issues minus the block heater recall. Hope this one works out better than the last one.
I don't know why, but after hearing all the issues about the RAPTOR, I still want to buy one. 🤷🏻♂️🤔
Happy Car Reviews They should have stuck with the V 8s.
still tremendous resale value. i would never own one. Jeep Grand Cherokee far, far, far worse.
Had one ,,it was great. But then........
Loved the video. One question I had is about the Toy Hauler you have. A lot of what I have read is that the toying capacity for the Raptor is 8000 lbs. What Toy Hauler do you have that you are able to load up a bike(s) and be under weight? Thanks!
Britton Wilson - I have a Jayco 222 Superlite toy hauler. Thanks for watching.
@@bradborkowski3236 thanks for the response bud. I appreciate it
