    Repairs on the Nordic… be warned it’s scary and it will not look great, it will only ease the mistake, and fingers crosses, the client won’t see it.

      Hi Jorge - That goes for any sealer or finish that contains color or pigments. The user needs to remember that a coat of product is only about as thick as a sheet of copy paper (1mil), so anything heavier (drips, start/stop marks, etc) will magnify the color to the degree it's thick than the surrounding area (unlike "clear" products - much harder to see). Same goes for any repair efforts. Any thinner areas, the reduced color/pigment is going to be noticeable; and any heavy spots (from adding repair layers, etc) are also going to be hard to keep hidden. Can't stress enough about pre-prep; keeping the floors clean; having a game plan before any application starts; knowing your products; and dialing in the environmental conditions to optimize open time for flow, leveling and defoaming.
      Also, we've found that applying a second coat of any pigmented product really helps to even out the color and appearance; and, don't abrade pigmented sealers until you have a coat or two of finish on top. If you must abrade or attempt repairs on these types of sealers, wet tacking the floor afterwards will give you a good idea of what it will look like when finish is applied on top (what's going to show through). Hope that helps.

      Hi Desire W - Sorry that you're having this issue, but very difficult for us to make a determination on something like this without talking to the contractor. Please have them contact our Technical Services team at (800) 872-5515. If you need to find another professional (unclear whether the contractor is still on your job), here's the link to find a Bona Certified Craftsman in your area -
      us.bona.com/contractor.html
      Hope that helps and I apologize that we couldn't do more from here.

    How many coats of bona sealer is recommended? And also how many coats of traffic HD is recommended

      Hi Dubs - Typically, a general waterborne sealer/finish system would consist of 1 coat of sealer and 2-3 coats of finish (3 coats in heavier traffic areas - kitchen, family room, etc). However, when you're dealing with these sealers that have some color, it may take 2-4 coats of that sealer to achieve the color you're after - then adding at least 2 coats of finish over the top to protect the color underneath. As an example, when trying to achieve a classic Scandinavian look floor (very light and white-washed), we'd apply 1 coat of NaturalSeal, then 1 coat of NordicSeal, followed by 2 coats of Bona Traffic HD Extra Matte finish. Hope that helps answer your question.

      @@BonaProfessional What is the time frame between Nordic Seal application, and Traffic HD application?

    Thank you so much for this webinar! Super helpful. Quick question, can a different family of products (e.g. Pallmann, etc.) be used on top of NordicSeal? If so, how long should NordicSeal be left to cure before applying other finishes?

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  Рік тому

      Hi Laura - Though most quality waterborne finishes should work over Bona NordicSeal, we can't give you the green light as we don't formally test the compatibility of other products. Even if you get good adhesion, another key factor is the raw materials used in the top coat and how those may be affected by the raw materials gassing off of the sealer coat (and vice versa) - which may affect scuff, scratch and chemical resistance in the long run. Best practice is to stay with one manufacturers "system" of products because they should be thoroughly tested for compatibility across all these facets of performance. Thanks!

      Hello Anku2001 - While either would work quite well, the pure white Microfiber roller cover seems to produce the best overall results. Hope that helps.

    how long do i have to wait before applying a second coat?

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  9 місяців тому

      Hi @miyocoding4374 - A coat of sealer will typically dry in 1-3 hours under ideal conditions of 65-80F and 40-60% RH, with normal air flow. Best method is to use a dual-depth moisture meter, first taking a base reading on the raw wood (i.e. 8%); then, after application of a sealer or finish coat and requisite dry time, when subsequent readings get to within 1% point of your base (in this case less than or equal to 9%), then you know the surface layers are dry enough to apply another coat. Hope that helps!
