    What is the best method to leave a cut line while working a section on an open floor plan home ~1000 sq feet with a staircase in the center. Doughnut shape. Tape line or feather? Normally with WB or oil I would be quick enough to leave a wet edge and hit both sides, with a product such as Traffic I'm concerned that things will start to set up before I can loop back around. I normally T-Bar. Thanks!

      Hello BIB - Either one would work, so we'd recommend using the method that you're most confident in carrying out. Choice might also depend on flooring species, color, direct light sources and what you think might show up or not. I'd probably do tape lines to keep things real precise; and then move the tape inward one board for the overlap just to make sure you hit all the boards. Hope this helps.

      Glad you like them! We've always had the philosophy of not just trying to make the best products, but to also show our customers how to be successful with them. Instructions on a label only go so far. Thanks for the affirmation!

    If the trim is going in after the floor is finished, is there still a need to cut in with the pad? I would assume it's there to make sure the trim/wall stays clean, but if that's not an issue due to later trim install, could I get away with just the roller?

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  2 роки тому +1

      Hello FR - If there's no trim up (or even if quarter-round has been removed, many times you can get by with just the roller; and maybe a small brush, as there are always some small areas that pop-up that you can't get with a larger tool, without leaving a heavy mark/drips/etc. Hope that helps.

    Can anybody tell me why water base is better than oil base. In my area everybody saying oil bases is better

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  3 роки тому +7

      Hi GP - They're both good products, and in some cases oil-modified may be a better choice than waterborne (Bona makes and sells both); but there are just so many advantages to waterborne finishes over solvent-based, that it's really no contest. Waterborne finishes dry harder than OMU; they adhere better (hydrogen bonding) to all surfaces; they're non-flammable (no risk of waterborne flash fires); don't turn yellow over time like OMU; have better chemical resistance (restaurants, kitchens, bars) due to tighter film properties; formaldehyde free; virtually odorless (consumer #2 complaint is smell - #1 is dust); you can apply multiple coats in a day; no need to abrade between coats (unless more than 48hrs); VOC compliant globally; faster drying (2-3hrs vs. 8-24hrs); faster curing (3-7days vs. 14-45days); easy to apply with different applicators; and clean-up with water (no additional solvents). All Bona waterborne products are also Greenguard Certified for indoor air quality - and Traffic HD is Greenguard Gold Certified (tougher certification for children and schools); so our best waterborne finish is also our safest. Hope this is a good starter list for you. Thanks!

    Finishing the floor in the summer time. Are the wearing time? What would be the best time?

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  9 місяців тому

      Hello @dennisharris6822 - If the house/floor is too hot during the day to apply a coat of finish, then early in the morning is usually your best bet. If A/C is available, you can always cool down the house with that and then turn it off right when you're about to coat in order to eliminate unnecessary air flow. Hope that answers your question!

    Hello - Just put down two coats of Naturalseal over WO. I have two gallons of Traffic Naturale left over from an earlier job but will need another two gallons for a second finish coat. Naturale is discontinued now. Can i put these two gallons of Naturale down as a first coat and follow with two gallons of Traffic HD Raw? Thanks -

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  Рік тому

      Hi @robert4196 - Yes, that should work just fine. We'd recommend that you give the bottom coat of Naturale an overnight dry and abrade it quickly with a Conditioning Pad (and then vac/tack or PowerScrubber to clean) prior to coating with Traffic HD RAW. That's just always our "best practice" when switching from one finish to another between coats. Hope that helps!

    So would you be confident rolling and cutting in without 2 people????

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  3 роки тому

      Hi Andrew - Yep, no problem at all cutting in and rolling by yourself; especially if roll in sections and don't try to hit the whole floor at once. Watch the roller application demo video for more details on that particular method.

    what to apply after finishing off Handrails on stairs with Dryfast stain?? which finish should be given on treads It will be ANTISLIP

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi @MandeepSingh-yy8zc - On handrails, we'd probably put 2-3 thin coats of Mega or Mega One on those (but would also take them down so that we can apply as horizontally as possible to avoid runs and drips). Bona Traffic HD Anti-Slip will fill your request for the treads.

    I’m planning on putting Down one coat of bona natural seal- and Two layers of bona traffic HD. Besides appropriate dry time in between do I need to sand or a abraid in between any of these coats?

      I’m planning on doing this all in one long day

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  Рік тому

      Hi Parker - You don't need to abrade between coats for adhesion (unless more than 48hrs since last coat, then just hit it with a Bona Conditioning Pad), but only for smoothness. Lots of professionals will hit the floor before their final coat with 2-3 Bona Diamond Discs (180 or 240 grit), mounted on two stacked Bona Conditioning Pads (to soften the aggressiveness); hit the sides and detail areas by hand; vacuum (or use the PowerScrubber) and final tack; then last coat applied. Hope that helps!

    T bar much is easier than rollers

      Hello VU - Both methods are easy with enough practice; and, they both have advantages and disadvantages. Learn to be proficient with both and you'll never run into a job that you can't finish (even by yourself). Thanks for watching!
