Fir and Little Apache Hike @ Cloudcroft, New Mexico

An easy, well-marked multi-use trail, that is, at 5.4 miles/8.69 km in length. Elevation begins around low to mid 8,000 feet and climbs to around 9,000 feet. Only 1.5 hour drive from Las Cruces, NM, this is a great way to escape the summer heat in Las Cruces and other lower elevation cities and towns. Multiple use in some sections for equestrian and motorbikes as well as mountain biking as well. Blue diamond tags on the trees guide you along this easy hike through the forest. Close proximity to campgrounds can turn this into a weekend or longer camping trip. Can park at an overflow site, where there are vault toilets, and then walk a short distance from there to start your hiking journey.
