Choosing to be with someone is a commitment that requires effort even during the easy times so that you can make it smoother through the rough times. Love and passion are important components of a relationship, but you want a strong foundation to build on top of. That means actively talking and listening to each other, learning each other's love languages, confronting problems in the relationship in a healthy way, building trust, etc. and all of that is really hard to do sometimes, even if you love that person and choose to be with them! And for some people, it's not worth the work. Again, those are my thoughts. If a relationship ever feels like the other person has unbalanced authority over you, that's definitely not a good relationship.
