It is most certainly NOT sad that your idea of fun is going to a museum. I just went to Ireland for a week and a half and the only thing I did was go see monasteries, medieval castles, megalithic cairns, museums, and churches. Why? Because it's more fun than going to pubs and getting drunk every night. Believe me, I've experienced the fun of drinking till you don't know where you are, and it gets old, fast. This is much more intellectually stimulating and interesting.

Agreed. I seriously judge anyone who goes somewhere and doesn't go to museums... people who go to Paris to eat macarons at laduree and go to starbucks literally disgust me.

I thoroughly enjoyed your video! You need to come to England, we have such beautiful old buildings with lots of history to them. You are such an inspiration that I have dusted off my dressmaking equipment and dived back into it. I was shopping for a pattern for a dress I want to make and came across your dress pattern. Can you imagine a 53yr young grandmother shouting out "I've watched that on UA-cam! I love her channel!" Let's just say the staff were looking at me a little weird. Well back to pinning......

you look so so cute in your outfit and also, stand out. standing out, without looking odd... and also how many people that do think they are standing out are just wearing what everyone else is wearing! You look well worth a second look, because of your vintage look.

I'm so glad you got to go to the Versailles exhibit at the Met. I went back in the spring and loved all of the incredible embroidery. The floral designs on the men's suits blew my mind.

I really enjoy this Vlogging format. I like the way you talk about everything that happened afterwards. It's very easy to get lost in the moment and forget to take a perspective of what is happening. I also love hearing about what you thought of everything after taking it all in

Totally not sad! In fact, this made me want to go to the museum myself.
We don’t have anything as grande that’s fashion history related here in Berlin, but at least one can look at the pretty paintings, right?
Also, it’s cool in Museums, and we‘re looking at another 4 days of excruciating heat, before temperatures will finally go down some. Perfect plan!
The overall construction as well as the details of these garments is just breathtaking. I‘m glad, you showed some of it. Usually, when they show something on TV about these exhibitions, they just never show the dresses up close *facepalm*
    Very nice Vlog 👍
And glad, you got such a good deal on fabrics. With the amounts you use, the cost per garment must be painful! I always take advantage of end of season sales myself - I luckily have a decent amount of storage space in my workroom.

Firstly, I think you need to refer to it as the "Bolt Vault" because.... that amuses me.
Secondly, you should consider making a swatch folder - taking a 2x2 swatch of all of your fabrics that haven't been assigned to a project and putting it all in a folder to take with you to the garment store. This way you can easily check a tempting fabric against what you have in your supply to see if you already have something that matches. It might save you from purchasing those "three or four other fabrics" each time.

So much fabric! I'm so fascinated of the quantity and diverity of fabrics there is in shops when I watch youtubers from another country. Nearly two years ago when I went to one of my local fabric shops (the biggest one) to buy some wool I had maybe six or seven different options. That's not that many if one have a very specific colour or texture in mind. (I live in a very cold country, so wool is my favourite material).
I enjoyed this type of content. Everyting vintage or historical or sewing related is enjoying to me. Especially with your comments on things. Your outfits were beautiful and I hope we will see more outfits it the fututre, because I love your style.
    Love your videos!

I tend to get motion sickness from camera movements, so usually I can't watch vlogs for very long, but I really appreciated how you broke it up into segments with stationary "in studio" reflections in between, that really helped. I don't live near any major museums and would probably never have gotten to see those exhibits without your footage. Thanks for going through the awkwardness of filming in public for us ❤️

I loved this! It’s interesting to see your process in choosing fabrics and if it’s sad to find museums interesting then I must be tragic because I donate three days a week to working in the registrar's office at a local museum doing glorified data entry, and I LOVE it! Also when you said your battery was running out right before you went into the Versailles exhibit, I think I nearly had a stroke.... it was like "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" Lol. Do more vlogs when you can... I’ll definitely be watching.

I love seeing the scenery change too. I live way up north (near Saratoga & Lake George, if those are familiar to you), so taking the train down to the city we go from mountains & farms to valleys to small cities to the big city. "Or some very thin bodies" LMAO! Shame about the poor layout of the exhibit. Maybe they were hoping to squeeze more money out of people by forcing them to return multiple times to see the full thing. RIP Pigeon Fabric. I definitely see the clown noses...I can also see a dog, like a big shaggy fluffy dog wearing a clown nose. Like something out of Alice in Wonderland.

Great blog, Angela! It was wonderful to see these exhibits through the eyes of someone who appreciates stitching details and craftsmanship. I find when I’m in a museum, looking at a painting, like you I’m zooming in on the way the lace is ruffled or how the fabric drapes. Anyway, you may already know this but Kent State University has a wonderful Fashion Museum on campus with fascinating exhibits. Right now, they have the costumes of Katherine Hepburn on display, among other things. If you find yourself in Northeast Ohio (as one does!), you must check it out!!

I usually space bag fabric that puffs out but I also do it to keep one project together and labeled with some notes of concept or direction I want to go with it that way when I come back I'll know if I want to still do that or not. It also allows the amount of fabric to be condensed in space but I have used that as an excuse to store more projects together in tubs. It's also good to have cedar with them even space bagged to prevent moths. I usually get the space bags from the dollar tree but only the med to small since the larger ones tend to fail more. I get the larger ones from walmart for fabric that really needs to be condensed and is too large. That being said there are only a couple of fabrics I'd hang especially after ironing or steaming them. I hope that helps ^.^

Seeing all those greens makes me think you should do a victorian arsenic or absinthe inspired outfit! I completely understand having the need to stock up during closing sales, the fabric shop I worked in just closed down and I had to go buy more storage for my sewing room for what I bought. I am sure I would love your garment district. We have a dirge of fabric stores here in New Zealand. Any trip that I go on overseas I head for the fabric store - much to the distress of my husband. My biggest problem is that I get totally confused the minute I walk into the store - what do I really want, what am I going to make, how much do I need - even if I have "things sorted in my mind before I head out". Love the way you confidently just BUY!!! I think I will have to adopt that philosophy next time!!

Totally absorbing with a refreshing narration style. Real and engaging that sets it apart from TV production.
Museums get us close to the era or period depicted glimpsing into what was in an intimate way.
More of these, yes when you feel it’s time. It’s best when you’re feeling the motivation rather than a blogging need.
Those fabric emporia were a treat. To have access to them relatively easily. Ours here are far apart though plentiful.

Some of the Versailles exhibit outfits are in one of my fashion reference books. Nice to see video of them. Maybe one day I can see them in real life as well. Thanks for the video.

Great vlog Angela! Plus your outfits were so cute! Just wanted to share an organizational tip for fabric storage that has helped me. I trim a swatch from my fabrics and pin into a 5x8 binder, noting the yardage/remnant size and fibre content. It is sectioned by fabric type. My fabric inventory binder makes keeping track of what I have so easy, I don't have to rummage through drawers and bins each time I'm starting a project. It's small enough to take the whole thing with me shopping or just pull out the swatch(s) if I need to match. It's also great to look through if I need inspiration for a new project. If I use up all or just a bit, I will update new yardage or move the swatch to the back under the archive section if I've used it all up.

This was so fun to watch!! I loved getting to see your process of picking out fabric since that is half the fun when starting a new project- at least that is for me ☺️ I can’t wait for more of these! Excellent video thank you for posting!! ♥️♥️♥️

Something that I thought interesting was....when I use to watch (Martha Pullman) Martha’s sewing room tv show, at the end of each show she would tell, and also show, an an Heirloom garment that he and her husband Joe would find at 5a.m. In clothing districts in England. She would tell a story of the buttons, or the hem, or the pleats and tell you what they mean. Many people would send her priceless old clothing and she would put it in her museum. I don’t know where that is, but I think you would find that really interesting!❤️

I totally understand what you mean about buying fabrics you don't have an immediate need for. I am a quilter and my fabric stash is out of control!

Those sparkling netting reminds me of the regency period over skirt to the muslin dressing for evening wear.
