I’m sad that Larian left DnD behind (although it was 10000% for the right reasons, Hasbro is the route of all evil for all DnD), But I’m SUPER excited to see what they have planned next.
you know its good when the only complaint about it from me was "man i wanted a quest about this you cant leave me on a lore read and no resolution and now im going to have this pit in my stomach for the rest of time" lmaoo
I couldn't throw away anything that sounded semi important. "This ring is marked 'to my beloved x'" well crap I gota track this women down and give her this ring.
I hope Sven never stops wearing that armor. I wish that we could stay in the hype of the game forever. I will cherish it for the rest of my life. Thank you Larian.
On one hand I agree. On the other I think it's nice (and natural, obviously) for the hype to calm down because then we can focus on other things and when Larian finally comes back with their next project our hype tank is full again and ready to be spent. 😁
Swen said "We're game developers not managers" and it shows. With every word they say you can feel how passionate they are about their work. Must be a great atmosphere to work with those people. When I hear the CEO's of my own work company talk it always feels like they don't know what we are actually doing but Swen seems to be involved in every step of the process. I wish you all the best for your next project, Larian people, whatever it is I will be excited. Also, that shoutout to Luality was so sweet and heartwarming.
Absolutely love the shoutout to Luality. She's been such a big part of the streaming community, she's a fantastic ambassador for the game, she's funny as heck, the queen of tactics & just amazing to watch. Happy belated birthday, so happy for you to be recognized.
I've just finished the game. Over 200h for the first time in tactical difficulty level. Every hour I spent - it's worth it. You created a legendary game I want to play more and more and more. I ve added the soundtrack and listened to it many and many times during the work. Guys I love you, it's the best tactical RPG ever. The funny fact, that as a divinity fan I was scared of combat system in BG3 in the beginning and even gave up after 20h. But when I returned and started to dig mechanics, oh my god, I realised everything what you did. And fell in love in this game
Swen, We appreciate the personal and professional struggles you went through for the last 20 years to keep Larian Studios afloat. Also, our appreciation for the rare investors through the years that decided to believe in Swen and invest in him and Larian Studios ❤ - hopefully, all of you are swimming in more money than you know what to do with 😂.
With BG3, I would argue that the BG Trilogy is now the greatest trilogy in video game history. Each title was critically acclaimed, commercially successful, and incredibly innovative, with each title pushing the CRPG genre forward. And with BG3, Larian now has two titles-D:OS2 and BG3-ranked among the top CRPGs of all time, cementing its legacy as a historically important developer. BG3 also highlighted how Larian and its CEO are decidedly pro-gamer, creating (and publicy advocating for) feature-complete games with no microtransactions or paid DLC, which inspired me to purchase not just BG3 but Larian's entire catalog. To say that BG3 was a major accomplishment feels like such an understatement. Congratulations to everyone at Larian for all your success!
And they all feature co-op, which is a major part in each of these games. So, contrary to what many "gamers" say, co-op doesn't ruin the story or the game. Quite the opposite. RPG tabletop games were created around the idea of cooperation, so I think more electronic RPG games should feature co-op
I agree but I'd also add that dlcs are not inherently bad. When it aims to add something significant to a universe and if it's not one of those bs pre-planned stuff then I'm really happy to spend more money, because if feels earned.
@@Unherist Agreed. Shadow of The Erdtree exemplifies what "good" DLC should be: it extends the universe of an already exceptional game that was free of microtransactions and paywalls. In contrast, Bethesda’s decision to charge $7 for a single Starfield mission sets a concerning precedent. Personally, I think gamers should support developers like Larian, FromSoftware, and indies who prioritize creating amazing games versus monetizing every facet of mediocre ones.
@@smokinjoeblues Yes definitely! Also some honest free to play games can go into that category imo. I used to play Warframe a lot back in the days and it was really fairly monetized, so it felt right to pay some things even when I don't needed to. Same goes with The Finals now. The game is really fun and you can have the full experience for free, they only charge for cosmetics. So I happily support the studio by spending 10 or 20 bucks every 3 or 4 months, it seems fair to me.
Very nicely done Larian. Baldur's Gate 3 will be remembered till eternity. I first played Divinity Original Sin games and I was sad to see that they weren't as popular as they deserved. BG3 had a long story behind it of course and, with all the advertising and marketing, it got what it deserved. Both these games can't be praised enough. Congratulations. And thank you for delivering what was expected plus way more.
That shout out to Luality was so great. I was excited talking to my dad about this game I'd been playing, and he brought up a reel of hers he'd seen on UA-cam. Thank you all for making such a fantastic piece of art too. You all do a great job of reminding others just how great games can be when there is care, time, and love put into them.
The Baldur's Gate Trilogy used to mean BG1, BG2 Shadow of Amn and BG2 Throne of Bhaal. Larian did a perfect job creating a masterpiece that stands just as tall as the others and brings the Baldur's Gate IP to a new height in the modern gaming world.
As soon as Larian were announced as the devs for BG3 I knew it was in safe hands. Then I played the Early Access and that confirmed it. Still loving it, still savouring it - hence why I've played 175 hours solo and not finished yet. Can't wait to see what they do next.
While cloning Larian over and over might be interesting, every game studio should at least look to Larian and Sven as a Master Class in game development. Thank you for all that you have done and I am already hyped for what you all come out with next.
Since we're at the topic of bears, one of my favorite moments was at the goblin camp when I took control of Halsin and made him sit on a chair. The exact moment I thought this is going to be a quality game.
Just to express how much I appreciate your work on bg3: I would happily *right now* preorder whatever you're doing next. I wouldnt do that with any other Studio. Thanks Larian! ❤
I liked the part where Sven turns to all AAA game companies and commented on microtransactions with "YOU CAN BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS!", cast Fireball and Dimension Door'ed out of there while heartily laughing.
