My first TikTok video with Uncle Roger! ua-cam.com/video/J54G9ePnYb4/v-deo.html
im pretty sure that first video is not a troll video Americans are built different
@@efafe4972 it's not Americans !!! That's "dog folk" they kiss their dogs in the mouth don't put that on all of us ...... they don't understand that **** is weird
@@SciCombat was mainly referring to just how bad the dish was but i guess there are strange dog people everywhere
Regarding waste: I abolutly agree with you not just with food but with everything. Explaining this to an American... whoa good luck with that! The frist reation would be that it was an investment for the views, like, monetization or whatever. This bothers me so much!
Tik tok needs to be banned
You hit the nail on its head. The worst thing about these "funny" gimmick tik tok videos are the food waste. As a kid I knew what hunger felt like and it absolutely disgusts me that I see people wasting so much food just to make a 2 minute video that no one really appreciates.
Same. I’d go hungry a lot and passed out from lack of food two times (once near a horse).
I feel bad when I waste food now. But I try not to do it on purpose.
Even worse - people who don't know better will try these
Couldn't agree more. Poor people across the world starve while some asshole who already has money to spare makes even more money by wasting a huge amount of food. It's disgusting.
@@alexashton6501 you get what you fuckin deserve if you are that stupid
I really hate people that say "chill it's just a video". I actually commented something similar on a tiktok trend where they wasted so much dog food for a stupid prank. Then showed that oh they just vacuumed the food to clean up...
Was told to lighten up and take a joke. How can I take a joke when they are wasting so much food and there are families out there that are struggling to have 2 meals a day...
And you know what, there are dog shelters out there that can't afford to feed the animals they have...it happened so much back home and they would even show on TV dogs in cages that were starving or that were being put down because they didn't have enough food to feed them.... All of them were appealing to people to either donate or come to adopt a dog so they don't have to kill so many...
As an Italian grandmother....the food waste breaks my heart. These people are maniacs!!
As a Latino grandson I really hate food getting waste just for the views
@@SpikerDragon95 Yes, our cultures have many similarities. All this while so many children go to bed hungry every day. Disgusting!!
They are rich, this is sadly fine for them to waste food. Their rights, we can't do much to be honest.
Welcome to reality.
Growing up as a southerner in the south eastern United States this waste makes me angry and disgusted, when I grew up we used everything when we slaughtered our animals on the farm or when we hunted. Deer and other game leftovers (Hooves, eyeballs, connective tissues, etc...) went to the dogs so not to waste them, generally we'd boil the bones and cartilage/joints to make gelatin/paraffin...as I said we used everything and if something went bad/spoiled we composted it with the garden leavings to make fertilizer.
No. They are just clueless idiots.
Being on tiktok will make you a halfwit
I always feel bad when I can’t finish a meal. These people just casually wasting so much is sickening honestly. Appreciate what you have :-/
I usually eat small meals, if I cannot finish a meal at home then I'll finish it later as to not waste it.
In public, I'll just plough through it and finish the plate
@@bloodrave9578 Thats what most of us do too. I winds up as breakfast or going to work for lunch.
@@applelover98 Lost count of how many times I've had last night's curry for breakfast
My chemistry teacher made sure to tell us, everything is a little bit soluble, even when it’s not labeled as such to /some/ degree it is. Can you imagine what is being leeched from that Doritos bag into the food 🤢🤢 with all that heat and and the water
What's scary is that they're so proud of their "hacks", and what's scarier is that there's almost always someone encouraging them to do this 🤢
On one hand we have the "5minute crafts" content farms owned by a handful of people, on the other we have theories that a lot of these bad cooking tiktoks are on some level of fetish. The awful ones also rely on outrage to get a lot of attention.
The algorithm is encouraging them to do this.
now theres an ongoing theory that these videos with someone cheering and everything is hidden softcore fetish videos. some might be and some others might just copy their style bc of how well the algorythm shows them but once u see it its actually scary
It's rage bait, it's bad on purpose
@@Sheldezare 5min crafts is F.A.F (Fake as F.) too for most videos. So, its a "berries from same tree" (if i can say like that in English)
The worst thing about dipping half-cooked chicken into your jar of peanut butter is that you then have to throw away the rest of the peanut butter.
very true!
Not to mention that peanut butter is not that kind of consistency unless diluted or melted
unless it's a "natural" peanut butter, and it's left to sit for a bit. in which case the oil will have violently separated. and then you just mix it up, and it's nearly runny (depending on which brand).@@auroragb
You can also warm up the peanut butter (in a microwave), and it will become that consistency.
Looks like she didn”t actually take a bite of that Chicken leg. No crumbs on her mouth or bites out of the leg.
About the chicken, you ABSOLUTELY don't need 5lbs of butter. I think I used 1.5lbs of compound butter (didn't make a mess by adding oil) to butter a turkey, which obviously is MUCH bigger than that chicken.
I think Chef Jean-Pierre used TWO pounds of butter in his whole turkey video a few thanksgivings ago (and he LOVES butter), and he slathered the stuff on the whole 27lb turkey with a spatula.
To paraphrase Uncle Roger: if you use more butter on chicken than even Jean-Pierre uses on Turkey, you f*cked up.
My grandma who was literally a mycologist always told me that you dont wash mushrooms but you clean em with a brush for example. That worked even well for the ones we collected in the woods.
Clean them however you like. Even a five minute soak only results in insignificant absorption of water (Harold McGee, a renowned food scientist performed this test for The Curious Cook in 1990 and the mushrooms gained only 1/16th of a teaspoon of extra water).
Boiling a bag of Dorritos and salting the water outside is just priceless 😁
Salt changes the boiling point of water so it cooks at a higher temperature
@@jeffsimmons3569 Spot on. It means the shit in the Dorritos bag doesn't take so long to cook.
@@NoxiousRob yh but a sprinkle of salt aint gonna do shit
Boiling the bag is the real crime. What chemicals were sloughing off into the food from the boiling?
if the water you're cooking in doesn't taste salty, then it's not salty enough. @@Denis-pk6ld
Chef James is sort of the anti-Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay will immediately scream and call these people morons and Chef James, even on the most absurd ones, is still somewhat courteous. "I don't think this is going to turn out nice at all" is probably the most gracious think anyone could say about that pasta dish. 😂
Thanks for all the great content, Chef!
thank you!
Ramsay would call them a "doughnut". But love your comment as I was going to say something similar.
Gordon only acts like that on the American shows because they make him. On the British shows he is nice
@@stewpidasso3910 really? What's the name of a show in which he's polite? I'm very curious to see
I totally agree!!!
I completely agree with you about the wasted food from these TikToks. I have always had a problem with people wasting food. It has always bothered me. Unless something is completely inedible I never throw it out, so it does bother me to see so much food waste on TikTok
The look on James as he advances with the videos is priceless. You can see how he starts to abandon all hope in humanity with every hack he sees.
haha you should see me when reading the comments every day, the amount of hostility towards me is amazing with some of these videos.
I commented on one of James other videos that he has a very good manner in pointing out when someone gets something wrong and politely suggests that they could have taken a different approach (i.e. the right approach). I think it was one of the Jamie Oliver videos when James was obviously trying hard not be too critical, while Uncle Roger was completely roasting Jamie.
This is the first video I've seen where James is finding it really difficult to conceal his incredulity at what he's seeing, he didn't actually say WTF, but at least one point he definitely mouthed it.
Regarding washing mushrooms, ive seen this put to the test, people have weighted mushrooms, absolutely drenched them, patted down and weighed them again. The result was effectively 0 water absorption. No problem with washing mushrooms, just do it before you cook them.
The Doritos bag hack is even fishier then discussed: maybe its the light, but I think I see some browning in there. You would not get that at those temperatures, and in that wet environment. I also think it would have been a solid mass, not broken up like that. I think she performed this "Hack", then cooked something separately, put it in a Doritos bag, and said it was the results. Which would mean she tried to cheat to make the Dorito bag meal look good, AND THATS WHAT SHE MANAGED. WITH CHEATING.
I saw browning as well 100% agree she cooked something in a pan then tossed into an empty Dorito bag.
Oh absolutely. If she boiled the meat in a bag it would have been grey not brown and the onions would still be visible too as they would not have charred. But I already knew these videos were disgustingly fake so it did not surprise me.
I actually do ground round in a vacuum bag in boiling water, the philosophy being, if I'm going to sauce it up and spice the daylights out of it, why bother browning it?
Not going to notice the lack of flavor from a missing maillard Reaction, in that mess, right?
But yeah, that's exactly how it comes out: A grey lump. Does make it easy to drain the grease.
It wasn't really that the meat had browned. Remember that she threw a whole jar of queso and a bunch of taco seasoning in there. When you mix those together, it becomes brown. Then that prettyvmuch coats everything. Even the Doritos in there had kind of soaked it up. Only some of the eggs stood out and that's just because they hadn't been beaten before being added.
That disgusting mess looks prettyvmuch exactly what I'd expect from those ingredients.
Harold McGee wrote about washing and weighing mushrooms in his book On Food and Cooking. But even unwashed mushrooms start out full of water; thorough cooking removes it.
Regarding the Doritos, I bet her grandmother also taught her to put salt in pasta water to make it boil hotter. Anyone can check that with a thermometer. A chemist can calculate how much salt it takes to raise the boiling point of water by a degree. It's a disgustingly large amount.
Hi Chef! A lot of these TikTok hack videos are just rage bait so that people comment and interact more with the videos (Rick Lax has a company dedicated solely to this), and it's sad because of how much they waste. Being in Colombia a lot of people here can't even enjoy 3 meals a day and seeing this enrages me way too much. Either way, thanks for all the cooking tips!
I never thought about that 🤯. Ain't no way people are cooking like a psycho like that.
Been a long while since I heard the name rick lax, isn't he the guy who posts basic math operations as "prediction" videos and got called a prophet by morons on facebook?
thank you!
It’s sad that after these women are done the making the video they are just going to chuck the food to the garbage or to the dogs.
@@fredsmith5782 my dog wouldn’t eat that crap for sure. They’re wasting food for clicks which is an awful shame.
Thank you for pointing out the food waste issue. I actually hate most food content creators and their "experiments" because of how much they waste even when they don't troll
I don't like it either
This came up on my FYP and I'm really glad. Your voice is soothing, you're incredibly kind, even when describing absolutely disgusting food, and i thoroughly enjoyed the video. After being with my husband for almost 23 years and seeing him cook at various restaurants during that entire time, it's refreshing to see someone who understands food safety make an informative video like this. I wish I could show my husband your videos but he passed away from stomach cancer last year... He'd be thrilled to see your content if he was still here so I'll be binge watching your videos and thinking about how much he'd enjoy them
Thank you!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll bet he was watching them with you, in spirit.
They seem to range from silly, to nauseating, to terrifying.
But I appreciate the tip about using lemon water or water with acid for mushrooms.
Also for other things that oxidise fast, like apples, bananas, avocados
Agreed, I knew to do it for fruits but never thought to try it with mushrooms o.o
You know it's bad when Chef James is visibly disgusted XD also when that person rinse the chicken with soap I literally went screamed no multiple times
Same here! My husband was in the other room and wondered why I was yelling at the TV 🤣
🤣
I've known James for years. He's one of the most cool-headed dudes out there. It takes a LOT for him to come out of, "respectful and polite," mode. haha
I nearly lost it when you said it looks like something the dog threw up. You’re so right!
At least it’s not quite as bad as the people cooking chicken in NyQuil but STILL.
There is NO WAY the beef got that brown being boiled in the doritos bag. Also, you could brown the meat and do the taco seasoning in a pan and then add all the other stuff by the time you'd get the water boiling and start the 20 minute timer for the bag.
Also, no way those eggs got that well scrambled inside the bag. This whole thing was cooked in a pan and put in the bag for the video.
I literally flinched when I saw the dishwashing liquid land on the chicken. It was like a jump scare during a scary movie. Wow
🤣
If those TikTok videos annoy you, might I recommend the UA-cam channel “how to cook that”. She has a ton of videos debunking those types of videos even going as far as replicating them and going into detail why it doesn’t work.
Anne is a treasure
There is no need to debunk them. They are comedy skits, and the reply comments are sarcastic _"yum, I am definitely making this for dinner"_ 😂
@@johncoops6897 you'd be surprised at how some people can miss sarcasm
Been a long time since I watched that channel, but there was one video that always stuck with me. Basically debunking someone turning hot caramel into some kind of candy floss using a hand mixer and using saran wrap as a guard to protect yourself from it. When she replicated it, the plastic wrap melted instantly and she went into detail about some people that tried to copy the video and got serious burns from the caramel being flung at them and sticking.
@@Wolfen5207 the one for me was when someone said you can make cotton candy with a dryer and immediately could tell you how that wouldn't work as it wouldn't get hot enough
I too was taught not to waste food intentionally. This was even more so with meat. I remember my dad saying, "An animal died so you can waste it." That has always stuck with me. I am not a vegetarian, but I am mindful of the lives of the livestock that were sacrificed so that I can eat. I am very hesitant of sending food back for minor things.
I’m kinda worried about the “sauce” for that last chicken one…. It looked like chicken blood from defrosting too fast, mixed with a bit of milk.
I think we all really appreciate that you’re willing to take one for the team! We can see (and roll our eyes) at these ridiculous trolling videos without having to give them engagement. You did it so we don’t have to. We will honour your sacrifice. 😂
If you intend to do more TikTok reaction videos, I'd like to see you reacting to actual food hacks... These ragebait troll videos don't seem fun for you to react to... and personally the waste just makes me cringe, and attracting attention to them just gives them exactly what they want, tbh.
I don't want to review anymore of these
@@ChefJamesMakinson Please no more, makes me feel quite unwell.
Excellent points, fully agree.
there are tons of actual, mind blowing food hacks out there worth checking out and deserving of the attention.
These... are not.
I don't think I can watch anymore 😮
@@ChefJamesMakinsonunderstandable
I'm glad to have found James. He nearly always gives reasons for WHY you should or should not do certain things when cooking.
Agree! Regardless of what purpose of the videos are for, at least we learn useful information from Chef James.
I grew up poor and in my entire life money has never come easy. Food waste is personally infuriating to me because I've known countless times in my 30 years of life what it means to be not just hugry, but starving. My mother was a chef at a country club, cooking for people vastly more wealthy than she would ever be, and at home she struggled to put food on the table.
People who waste food to this extent are genuinely despicable to me. It makes me wonder how privileged and entitled these people's upbringing must have been to be so grotesquely wasteful.
the Dorito bag one: what you didn't pick up on was the browning. in no way could the meat have browned. so they must have cooked it outside and put it in the bag afterwards. I also highly doubt a Dorito bag can withstand any form of heat
I really like how depsite the horrible things you're forcing yourself to watch, you still keep a nice attitude towards it and give genuine advice throughout it.
Yes!
PB&J isn't really a thing here either (Aussie), but my family would do sandwiches with peanut butter, slices of banana, and a drizzle of honey. it's pretty great
that's a GOAT sandwich as a kid! still up there as an adult, too
@@werdwerdus I'm in my 70s, would still eat that. Not so much the fluffernutter sandwiches that I ate all thru grad school. True confessions. Marshmellow fluff and peanut butter. I'm still alive so....
Honey, banana peanut butter sandwich that was one from my childhood growing up in Canada - still have it now sometimes, very good! :)
Here in the UK we always thought it was weird when we were kids but you couldn't get peanut butter so we didn't know. It's just fruit and nut, works well together. I do like peanut butter and honey on toast, never tried it with banana. I get the natural peanut butter that's 100% peanuts, it's not as sweet as other brands but honey is sweet enough
@@wullaballoo2642 Also tastes better than whatever sorts of HCF and sugar (cause you can't have too much sugar) and a whole bunch of salt. Though I do like peanut butter with a little salt, nothing that you taste but it brings out the natural flavors of peanuts.
Peanut butter is really good for different sandwiches: pb & strawberry jam, pb & honey, pb and sliced bananas (you can add a little honey or maple syrup to the bananas). Peanut butter also makes really delicious cookies. There’s a gluten free version that uses peanut butter, eggs, and brown sugar. They’re really soft and tender. There’s also fluffernutter sandwiches where you mix peanut butter with marshmallow fluff (the marshmallow mixture before it’s put in a pan and cut. Fluffernutter also is really good as a cake or cupcake topping.
What I'm gonna say about the "dish" made in the Dorito bag is something I'd wager Gordon Ramsay would say: "It looks like something from my grandfathers colostomy bag!"
The dorito bag hack is also a prison hack, and the finished product looked really close to some nacho toppings I've seen.
Came on here to say this, I'm sure you know this but for those who don't it's called a "break." I've known a few guys to call totally different stuff a "break," probably depends on what prison you went or the region it's in, what it is specifically can mean a few different things. One I know involves cooking ramen noodles together with Doritos and other miscellaneous stuff, but I've heard of guys using Fritos or something else entirely.
I used to work in administration for a state prison system. Occasionally line staff would share offender recipes they’d encountered. The ones I’ve seen/heard of can be ingenious, but impossibly time consuming under more normal circumstances-like scraping the crème filling out of dozens of generic Oreos then mashing it up with peanut butter to make cake “frosting”. It works(ish), but if you have access to actual ingredients you’d never do it-except for a TikTok video, I guess?
The pasta ones always seem the absolute worst to me. 🤢 I don’t tik tok and always grateful for that after one of these vids. I am glad I know how to cook. These chefs absolutely do not. Thanks for your reactions chef James as you struggle through this.
Was an absolute waste of garlic
Bro I gagged when she let the dog lick the water and then put it in the food. You can't just eat at everybody's house smh
They’re not chefs. It’s generous calling them cooks!
Same here. Especially since pasta is one of my comfort foods
Thanks mate ! As a French cooking amateur, I was always traumatized by all those kind of Tik Tok and instagram videos... Some of them got so much likes, I was like WTF is going on !?
First time I'm seeing the turned mushrooms, and I will definitely give a try!
your welcome!
Wow, even while watching some *upsetting* food videos, your energy and voice is so relaxing. Thanks for providing some very chill but entertaining content!
My pleasure 😊

I love Tanara double chocooate, the everybody's so creative lady. That was her line about the paper in the disposable aluminum pan
I love @taneradoublechocolate as well
The amount of patience he has...
One of the worst things about these kinds of TikToks is that a lot of them are fetish bait. For example, the butter one where there’s a woman handling a white sticky substance, slapping the raw chicken, inserting things inside the chicken, etc. is definitely a prime example. I don’t know who’s watching these weird food “hacks” to get off to, but clearly it’s working for them because they get thousands of views. That plus the food waste is just disgusting to me.
I totally agree. When it’s young women playing with food, often with a sidekick saying, “ohh woww,” it is clear it is not just a troll but meant to fit a _certain genre._ Some of these videos even have insane non-kitchen items that can be seen in a drawer or in the freezer. I’ll leave it at that.
Wow this can’t be real?! 😮😂😂 I feel your pain Chef!
I'm impressed with how calm you are. I would expect you as a professional chef to be furious like Gordon Ramsay looking at such a food waste
shouting does no good
@@ChefJamesMakinson agreed
You'd be surprised the kind of nasty stuff people are okay with their dogs doing. I agree it is most likely a "joke" in this case, just saying though.
Who's a good boy, he is yes he is.... Who's a stupid owner who doesn't realize he licked his balls two mins before....
I was going to make a comment like this. People let their dogs eat from the table, sleep in their bed, lick them in the mouth so I doubt this chick is trolling that part. Either way, it's gross.
@@MdnightWnd Dont know whts wrong with a dog in a bed. Like if you are so afraid of dogs dont get one, but its not bad at all to let a dog onto your bed. And im sure most humans do things more disgusting then dogs do. Like bathing in Nutealla and some stuff. If you make sure your dog is clean thers really no problem at all.
@@nameless-hu4mm I disagree, a dog doesn't belong in a bed. Too much hair
I kiss my dog around her mouth but I wouldn't do this. It's one thing to kiss your dog but another to incorporate dog germs into a massive amount of food you would presumably serve to multiple people.
I totally agree with you about intentionally wasting food for social media likes. It's very very upsetting to see. Especially when you think about how many families are struggling to feed their kids atm
Feeding the dog in the second video or soaping the chicken in the third are prime examples of rage baiting. You see these things, get angry, leave an angry comment, send it to your friends, some platforms let you dislike; all of these are interactions and cause the video to be shown to more people.
If we want them to go away, we have to ignore them😢
The guy from La capital did the deep fried turkey thing and took several precautory measures, like calculating the displacement volume of the turkey using water prior to prepare the oil and shutting off the fire completely while lowering the turkey into the boiling oil, so far seems the best approach to this dangerous idea
A man of culture I see... ;)
We all hope you're doing well, Chef James. Keep up the good work.
Boi you're fast
Thank you, I will! :)
I don't think my expression of disgust ever left my face while watching this... so ppl actually think these things work or are good? Tiktok is poison. Thanks for sacrificing yourself, Chef James, enjoyed hearing your reactions
I'm sorry I had nightmares after watching a few of these videos myself if I review anymore tiktoks they're going to be good tiktoks because this type of cringe material I don't like
After going down the rabbit hole of bad cooking videos, I never realized how many people were absolutely horrendous cooks..
It makes me so grateful to have grown up with a dad who is an excellent cook.. he kind of ruined me tho because most of the stuff he makes tastes way better than anyone else’s food and and better than restaurants so I don’t even like going to restaurants except for places that have food that he doesn’t cook.
yeap!
I felt the pain in your eyes when the chicken got in contact to the soap and peanut butter. Kudos to your courage chef!
tiktok pains me horribly and this is why I still haven't ever downloaded it
I really felt it when you said it's challenging to finish the video, so you got yourself a like and sub, great video man!
I appreciate it!
These gimmick tiktok recipes are so insulting on so many levels. The sheer amount of food they waste for a 2 minute joke that nobody finds funny is just redicules
We have something in the midwestern US that we call "walking tacos," which is similar to the second video from this, except you cook the beef and THEN put it into the doritos/fritos bag (and normally a smaller bag) with cheese and jalapenos or whatever else you want to add.
Yeah, it's just a "build your own taco" set up with meat and cheese and everything only instead of taco shells you have single serving bags of doritos/fritos/etc. It was quite popular when my niece and nephew were playing soccer as a post-game or post-practice meal because it was pretty easy to set up (just prep everything and put the hot ingredients into insulated carriers or a crock pot if you have access to power on site) and very little to clean up since you just throw away the bag when you're done, and the kids felt like it was a treat because they were getting to eat chips for dinner.
James, I spent almost 20 years I. The industry (FOH though), and you're one of the most relaxed chefs I've ever seen. And that's on UA-cam watching tik tok "hacks". I'm impressed.
Btw, I watched a video from Epicurious (I think) where they essentially boil mushrooms first to fry them. Works incredibly well and you need a lot less oil.
I'm not at work so haha 😂
I'm fascinated that Epicurious does that because I started cooking them like that ages ago and I have no idea what put the idea in my head to try, but it works well.
Dude, you're honestly the cooking teacher I was looking for. Subscribing.
thank you! :)
In France, PB&J sandwiches are considered really weird. No one eats that.
We eat jam mostly with simple butter ( salted butter in certain regions like Britanny). We also eat a LOT of spreadable chocolate, like a chocolate paste. I don't think it's very popular in the US but in France it really is. I'd say peanut butter is pretty rarely consumed.
We have Nutella here which is the hazelnut and chocolate spread. Very popular
thank you, this makes me feel so much better about my cooking non-ability.
Cooking inability is what these TikTok clowns do. Ordinary people who aren't setting out to destroy food in new and creative ways generally just lack experience and some times patience. But anyone who isn't a malicious TikTok clown can learn how to cook. Start out with boiling, salted water, add pasta, wait ten minutes, drain water. Season to taste with ketchup. Congrats, you've made student pasta. You are now a better cook than 99% of TikTok.
Next step, make a better pasta sauce than ketchup. Novice version involves frying some mince in your oil of choice (sunflower is fine) and adding Dolmio sauce. Slightly better version involves cutting onions and maybe a carrot and a bell pepper, frying that off first, then adding meat and letting that fry, then adding a can of kidney beans and two cans of tomatoes and some water, stir a bit, and letting that boil softly for half an hour. Skip the meat and add more beans and peppers for a vegetarian version. Cut some chilis of your choice if you want heat.
And once you're doing this without burning anything, you're really at the point where all sorts of experimentation can happen. And the sauce works fine with a bunch of other things than pasta. Potatoes. Rice. Bread.
One of the best turkeys I have ever made was lemon rings under the skin with lemon wedges, carots, onion, thyme, rosemary and sage in the cavity and then a gentle herb butter coat (very thin but even). The skin got a beautiful , even crusting and the flesh was incredibly tender and moist with just a slight brightness to the meat. The best compliment was from my aunt-in-law who said it looked like a Norman Rockwell painting it was so perfectly done.
I’m becoming a fan of yours very quickly, chef James. I feel like I’m going to be able to learn a lot from you, so thank you for your videos!
You are very welcome!
Chef James thank you for being honest about this topic . I found most of these hacks to be only useful for the yuk or as an indication that people need attention. Your cooking is fantastic and I wish you the best in your career!
Thank you!
This is all just clout bait, chef. What's weird is that alot of these "hack" videos are made by people working for just one dude (I don't remember his name but he was working with some washed up magician too). Also, alot of this is "coincidentally" catered to people with wierd fetishes like that one lady who was making punch in a toilet bowl, she probably knows these people as well, it's like one umbrella organisation.
These videos are actually pretty clever. Everyone will watch them and be compelled to explain in the comments why the food is going to turn out utterly disgusting, and TikTok will interpret that as engagement so it'll be recommended to yet more people.
Love the channel man
I love that you call out the stupid videos wasting food for “ew gross who would do this” clout. No one. They’re not eating it. And that’s like 99% of what I see across Twitter (where I usually see these since I don’t seek them out myself)
To be fair to the fried turkey mess containment system, they were already doing it on their wooden deck 😅 not sure the extra tinder is gonna make it to much worse anyway.
Speaking of poultry and fire hazards, the butter encased bird is actually somewhat dangerous. The meats got a ton of juices on its own and adding waaay to much fat is just asking for a spill into the oven when things start liquifying. I actually was renting a room in Philly when I was young, where one of my roommates wove bacon around their turkey that ended up causing a fairly bad fire when they bacon greese overflowed the pan.
Pretty sure the detergent chicken was a troll but I still couldn't help but to grimace 🤢🤣
Definitely a troll, she didn't use Dawn. 😂
She definitely learned the chip bag method while doing time xD
Chef watching this like, what the hell are they doing!? I like to cook but love the look of sheer horror on a pros face. I too grimaced at this. Kudos on surviving the whole video.
Currently training to start working as a chef and you say the same things as my teachers do. It's more often cleaner, cheaper, faster and more healthy, especially if making batches for over 4 people. And if i add the tools i now have access to that would be an understatement... Loving your videos, good tutorials and a bit of a hug when it comes to social media foods...
Thank you very much! Let me know if you have any questions on the kitchen. There are many things that you will have to learn after you start working full time. If I had a commercial kitchen to start showing people how to cook I could give more helpful tutorials on how to work in the kitchen! :)
I’ve been using my soap wrong all this time!
10/10 hack
😂
the craziest thing about the fried chicken one is that it would likely taste almost identical if they did all that to the the raw chicken and cooked it instead of doing all that crap with the butter and the vegetables in the oven
I came across your video here as I was scrolling and I enjoyed it so much- I’m a new subscriber 😊
Welcome! :)
i love this dude and his commentary. tells us calmly how to get crispy chicken skin while the video on the left shows a behemoth of butter LOL
😂
Chef James, love watching you and your insight you provide. Wish i had more videos to binge through
Glad you like them!
Literally watching food gore. James is on a whole new level.
🤣
3:40 I hope that dog didn't get sick from her cooking 😄😄
the crispy chicken skin advice was super helpful and kept me sane amidst the absolute horror going on in these tiktok videos, thank you for the content, chef!
"Don't wash mushrooms" yeah well, I rather have a bit of water inside my mushrooms than eat the peat which might contain sand, dung and other stuff.
But I guess that goes very well with the dog saliva...
Yep i wash mine, put in colander shake off. It's not like I can't brown them. Her's actually looked disgusting--maybe it was all that dog spit. :D
I found your channel today, watched some videos (reacting to Epicurious) and I had to subscribe. Your calmness, cooking knowledge and tips as you react to horrible cooking videos are so captivating.
Awesome! Thank you!
New subscriber!!!! 😂😂 keep going bro!!!
Thank you so much!!
This video really made me grateful for the skills and knowledge of how to cook PROPERLY and Delicious. I can not understand the tik tok rage with super shortcuts or just plain gross. Thank you for teaching me so many things when it comes to cooking.
The "angry chef stare" you made tells us you were genuinely upset with the waste of food :D
🤣
I see the vision with the buttered chicken... and it would have been a lot better if they used WAY less compound butter. Just like a thin spread of it would have probably done the trick.
Amazing compilation and love your commentary! The lady letting the dog drink or if the glass then adding the rest of the water into her pan... Nauseating. Absolutely disgusting.
The creators of these kind of Tiktoks deliberately create disgusting recipes and do revolting stuff like letting animals touch the ingredients, etc, for the sole purpose of attracting hordes of outraged comments which creates engagement, thus bolstering the video in the algorithm.
Thanks Chef! Now I can try this new version of "butter chicken". Indian cuisine is trembling right now!... just kidding, thanks for your patience going thru all those videos. I'd like to see more of these on your channel, but I know it is asking too much for your mental sanity. Thanks for the laughters!
😂
That OSB box, for the turkey fryer, was a great idea.
Bruh your strength is something else I've been making scared sounds through most the vid your words make watching all these weirdos worth it tho
Thank you!
Nice content as always, love your reactions ❤
Thank you so much 😁
In the Netherlands we often eat peanut butter and chocolate sprinkles or cucumber on our bread.
The chicken in the peanut butter could've worked as a sort of chicken sate but then she crusted it with bread an cookies which is just weird
I mean I’ve made vegan cucumber, tomato and hummus sandwiches before and they aren’t bad so
@SaneeXD yeah they sound pretty good, any sandwich with hummus os pretty good. But peanut butter and jelly just weirds me outq
I just found your channel and had to like/subscribe after seeing the pain you are going through, watching these videos! lol
Thank you!
I just ran into this video, and I’m so refreshed by your common sense and calm demeanor
Thank you!
I think the funniest part is Chef James trying so hard to stay somewhat respectful instead of straight up screaming profanities. 😂😂😂😂
I wanted too 🤣 I cut a lot out!
Thank you for another excellent video James. *Congratulations* on your channel’s growth❤ (that first video is disgusting and AGREED that it’s gross to waste food)
Thanks so much!
Peanut butter and jelly as a sandwich is passable, but putting those things on chicken is an abomination in the eyes of all that is holy and unholy.
The roasted chicken looks edible, but I just imagine the entire oven going up in flames with all that butter
I really liked this video because you came at it from a chef's perspective and it made it different from the usual Tik-Tok react videos. Though you were way too nice to a few of these haha.
I appreciate that!
That Ranch Doritos video is channeling some real “prison cooking” vibes. Great video as always, Chef! Sorry that you had to endure the cancer that is hacks videos.
As a decent enough cook myself, i find it amazing that you have to talk people through some of these basic, "what not to do's"....the look of shock on your face when you see some of the methods is priceless, my personal fave is the salt in the boiling water outside of the Doritos bag 😂
In all seriousness though it's worrying that these skills are not being passed down through families enough to the generations. And im only 43. It seems that has been totally lost in translation to some of the videos creators which we are watching
Simple and well put together video. You got a sub ❤
Awesome, thank you!
