    10 HCP, I went in for a fitting for i530 and ended up with G730, First round 73, in 3 weeks of play, 7 rounds in the 70's. Hip now 8 and trending lower.

    If the sound/feel is good with these I will be getting fit for these for sure!

    Top end of the bag is my issue. Five iron goes as far as my old G 4 hybrid, so the 4h gets dropped. Then the 5w could cause the 3w and 3h to be dropped. The 3w is really unnecessary these days when a 5w head with a 3w shaft might do the trick. After all, par 5's are already out of reach and the extra loft on the 5w makes it easier to hit. Decisions, decisions.

    Drew, would these two irons make sense in a blended set, or are they too different from each other?

      Great question. My first instinct would be to blend them with G430...so, you could do G430 in shorter irons and G730 in longer irons, or do i530 in shorter irons and G430 in longer irons. I say that because I think G430 fits in nicely between the i530 and G730

    I just tested the i530s and love them. I'm used to standard lofts and these are a bit strong.
    7i carry 178y with 19° loft and 5400 spin. My concern is I will have a large gap going from pitching wedge to wedges. Any recommendations? Retro spec lofts? Thanks.

      You got it. Either do a full retro-spec set or else bend the lofts weaker in the 9 and PW to get your gapping better.

    Thanks for video . I’m 12 handicap . 84mph 7 iron swing speed . Would I be better off with I230 power spec or i530 retro loft ,as they the same loft . Would i530 be more forging head vs i230 same loft . Sorry for long question !

      Hey I have the i230s and I have done tons of testing with lofts and I’m a 100 percent ping guy. If your swing 84 with a 7 iron I think both the power spec and retro spec would work for you it would just depend on what your looking for in distance. Honestly I think the standard or retro would be better at that speed for you. Combo set would be difficult between i230 and i530 because of the lofts but at that speed I don’t think you would have any issue using the i230s down to 7 or 8 iron even. As far as forgiveness between the 2. I game the i230s and they are forgiving but your getting a little bit more real estate on the i530s with a more flexible face so the i530s will be slightly more forgiving. Ping irons this year do unbelievable well off a toe strike. And I mean even an extreme toe strike they do well.

      My answer to this question is do you generally hit the center of the face or are you often 1/2 inch or more off center? Most i530 players are looking for distance, but you have more than enough speed to play either club. I would say that if your contact is consistently good you should probably look at i230, and you could just do them with their standard lofts. You don't need powerspec. If you miss the center of the face a lot you should probably look more at the i530 and you could retro spec those, which would give you some added spin and alsp give you better gapping on the short end of the bag. i 530 should be more forgiving while i230 is more of a precision tool.

      @@eagle-mangolf271 thanks for this reply very insightful. I guess I’m trying to see if there is optimal club . The i230 on robot testing standard loft doesn’t carry very far . I guess I’m trying to find figure out if I get all the tech benefits of the i530 with retro loft it might still carry 10yards further vs i230 power spec and I could use a 7iron vs 6iron which would be preferred as long as spin in maintained with that peak height . I’m sure either do just asking the question. I530 not yet available in South Africa but keen to try them when they arrive . Love the i230 but considering waiting for i530 to arrive before purchasing

    I530 look so much better than i230. At least the back of the 230. The gaps in that piece on the back do look right.

    Where do the i530's fit vs the i230's?

    • @StevenDietrich-k2w
      @StevenDietrich-k2w 6 місяців тому

      i530 offers more distance, more forgiving. The i230 would be more consistent and have more spin. The i230 would be a Tour spec club, in fact several PGA pros have i230's in their bag. The i530's would be more in the players distance category, with much stronger lofts than the i230.
