    Sorry going to have to shout here. MALTA, NO NO NO! Good weather, relatively low crime but that's it!
    Most densely populated country in mainland Europe is the Netherlands 530 people per square km. Malta has 1500 per square km.
    Noise, pollution, corruption, mafia, bad infrastructure, constant discrimination against foreigners.
    You would have to be OUT OF YOUR MIND to retire here.

    This list doesn't take into account the need for medical care when you're retired. I know, for example, that St Lucia has no real hospital. For retirees, this is a huge factor for a decision where to move.

      Ben , I was there staying in Le Sport… got very sick and can only say I got the best treatment ever with wonderful doctors etc

      @@mrbenmall thank you Ben..I too would never have known and in fact when I got home my own doctor was impressed with their latest up to date knowledge..the consultant even abolished I had to move rooms to see him and laughed when I said despite private health care I would have had to wait months to see a consultant…have only wonder memories

      @@stevenmarxs374 we´ve got an Appartment for 100K in Funchal. The Price Range starts at 50k and goes up to 500k for an Apartment. Houses start at 100k and go up to 1.Million, depends on location on the island.

    Can't believe you didn't mention dog Island in Bluff Harbour NZ.
    The view of the aluminium smelter alone would appeal to retirees, especially those with respiratory conditions.

    For my Lifestyle, Antigua & Barbuda is the best place in the world for me to own retirement property. Currency Exchange Rate 2.70ec to 1.00usd. 🇦🇬

      Although not an island, I know a bunch of Canadians have moved to San Felipe, MX. Nice and warm. I live in Seattle but just purchased my soon to be retirement home there.

    Mallorca is a fantastic island, but too hot in summer, and to cold in winter.

      I believe you need $350K permanent investment in Spain or Portugal for their "golden visas," which allow you permanent residency. After 5 years, I believe, you can then apply for citizenship.

    With so many residents and so built up they do not seem like island. My home is on a small island with 14 residents... Bliss! There are many real islands off Ireland...

      As a sailor Belize turned out a good place for US people. Best to remain along the tourist beach areas. Many have gone hiking in the jungle areas never to come back. There groups that kill whites as they do not want them there. Nor safe. And can be expensive for decent housing.

      @taxol2, lol, people with money are snapping up expensive properties at relatively low prices, from homeowners who lived in unwarranted fear of the oceans rising (usually from watching too much TV). Just Google "property sales in Palm Beach Island", which will be completely underwater in about, oh... ~5 years 😂😂😂

    Corsica!!! Amazing beaches, amazing food, and real mountains plus the unique Corsican 'maquis'. Try it once, come back for a lifetime...
    No concrete along the seashores as well, which is quite unique.

If so then it is a net gain for everybody. You win , they win. This is why Capitalism is so great and has created the greatest peace and prosperity humanity has ever known. Some people win small and others win big. The alternative is a world where everyone loses. We know this, because many countries already tried it out and they all failed.

    There is no best island to buy property on with the sea rising - most islands could flood over the next 50 years. As the sea rises, however gradually, the value of your property will drop.
