back in the late 60's early 70's the LI Sound was loaded with mackerel. the ones you're catching we called tinker mackerel.
I caught them with my dad in the 90s in new london. Great memories
I always get a kick out of snaging bunker....Fish on
Looks like an awesome day out on the water even though you had to call it early! Great vid
Those tinkers are like fluke candy. You need to bleed those fish. The tinkers just need to be gutted and tossed straight on the grill.
Nice catch guys
Wow it's been years since the Mac's have showed up in the sound old salt dog's talk about how there where so many at one point in the sound to get them was just drift your boat just of the docks but as you know does days are long gone but it's great to see some pods come by nice video
It's good to see brain back in action. Nice video 👍💪
Really helpful video. I’m learning and I’m trying to understand type of fish, lures/bait and the rod action. Cast and reel in or cast and sit.
You don't bleed out your fish?
What size boat is this?
Sabiki rig works great for mackerel
What part of the sound are you in
outside mattituck
video on live line a mackerel
would be nice if you do a fishing meet for your nyc subscribers , i wouldn’t mind driving down from brooklyn to learn some skills from you.
I would appreciate it if you and Brian could do a quick review of the kind of boat, the motor, even the trailor
if they are all great or if they have problems
i am also curious if you have a back up motor with you in case the first one dies
and where is that boat launch approxiametely
Where do you launch from on the north Shore? I fish out of Mt. Sinai and Stony Brook.
Where you guys were fishing looked like an area my grandpa used to take me to called Whitewood point, is that the same area?
