Update: I'm not sure when but at some point recently "Shrek 5" was renamed back to "Scram" on Steam. I'm not sure if Valve went in and changed the name back or if a developer did (even though supposedly they're banned). Otherwise though the game's picture is still of Shrek 5 and Shrek himself.
Used to have quite some fun playing Scram before it got Shrek'd. For anyone watching this looking for a shooter with a similar vibe, I recommend checking out Shotgun Farmers - it's not quite same as Scram, but has a similar appeal and is an unique shooter that's lots of fun with friends.
I'm here from the Vice article lol This is a really funny piece of Steam history, although sucks for the people who actually played Scram. Anyways great video, your voice is nice. I could see you doing more videos of this nature, kinda like the Tekkit Realm's UA-cam Unsolved series.
This video was featured in a VICE article! www.vice.com/en/article/7kbydg/gamers-alarmed-by-appearance-of-shrek-5-in-their-steam-libraries Also featured on GamesRadar+! www.gamesradar.com/steam-prank-leaves-several-players-with-shrek-5-in-their-libraries/?.com I'm honestly just kinda shocked at the sudden traction which the scram-Shrek 5 meme has gotten over the past few days. Earlier in the week this video suddenly went up by about 1k views from a Reddit post, and then now less than 24 hours after being posted on VICE & GamesRadar+ has gone up an additional 2k views. I'm really glad to see that this video was informative for a lot of people and hopefully answered the question of where Shrek 5 appeared out of. Again, I'm not totally sure on the history of scram and why this actually happened, but nonetheless it was a fun topic to explore for a video and turned out to be something a lot of people were wondering about! (And of course, if you liked the video be sure to subscribe and check out some of my other videos! "Obscure" or odd gaming stuff is something I cover relatively often!)
This is so freaking sad. Endning the game like this because it basically died. It feels like it's one of the game that became like a Liminal space because we see Shrek now.
The mystery brought me here. At least there is no need to install it... Edit: When bought for free is still owning the game. So in a way we are robbed...
I fucking hate the dev because i just saw this game and i was in love with it i was soo exited to play but NO everything needs bad needs to happen when i find a perfect game
I suppose that they probably do have that ability but there's not really a point in changing it since the game is delisted anyway, so technically it's no longer "for sale". Plus reverting it would just make it scram again which is arguably even more malicious than Shrek 5 lol. Only thing they could really do to make it any "better" from a legal sense would be to make it undownloadable for people who already owned it like me.

the game is named scram and has the scram logo on the list
Scram was a gun game that was eliminated and they put Shrek 5 on as a joke, in fact I managed to play it before they eliminated it
lowkey an appropriate ending to this game
Nice piece of Steam lore.

What a legend. He made us all meet here at this point in time and discuss his trolling.
I know nobody cares but I read that the original creator sold the game and then the new dev gave up on the game and hence shrek 5.
yeah thats pretty much what happened
Who was the original creator or/and the new dev?
This made me laugh so much and I don't know why.
I feel honoured to be amongst the chosen ones who have this in their library. God bless

Thank you! I've done some sorta similar videos before on obscure game stuff, but this video is by far one of the most popular!

Dad don't care for his kids and let the game die

scram was good game... i had much fun in it, sad its away
ik why he did this he didnt like his paper version of scram and he wanted to do copyright and now he does scram remastered
Does Steam Support not have the ability to forcibly revert a malicious update?
They just don't care
