The chemistry here is remarkable; no wonder everyone remarks on it. Keeping the cinematography simple - not even music to distract/enhance - and such a restrained script makes the interaction sharper, stronger, more genuine, so human, that it really hits the spot. The mutuality of that kiss sets up the rest of the story, but I keep coming back to the delicacy, empathy and strength of Galitzine here; the look up in despair and that sway away when she says she is too old, letting her go, then drawing her back in; the emotive simplicity of that "no you're not;" the way he sinks against the wall and puts his hand to his mouth when she walks away. Timeless, beautiful, speaking worlds without a word. This boy is fire.
