    Good job! There's a lot of work that goes into a proper fire prep!
    I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for all your hard work that goes into making this kind of content for us to enjoy!
    I do wish I had some similar environment near me to play in. The areas I have access to are all hardwoods. I still enjoy myself out there, but having some pines or other softer woods would be nice. Fatwood is scarce around here. I do have an ample supply though. I stock up whenever I do manage to stumble upon it.

      Thank you! I would definitely miss the pine and fir in a hardwood forest. Definitely get the fatwood when you are able.

    Outstanding vid Dan, I think alot of people do not know just how much work goes into good fire makeing skills, and those old school ways are often harder still. Glad to see you useing them.

    That broken pine branch had no pitch. That can only mean one thing... That branch broke off long after death of the tree.

    GREAT Video...Question if you would answer it that would be a big help in me makeing a Decision I have a Tops Armageddon but I am not happy with the Tip being so Thine...do you think a Kbar BK9 would be a better choice..

      By far!! I had the Armageddon a few years back. BK9 is outperforms it in every way. If you type in "OCHOCO BUSHCRAFT BK9" my videos over the years will pop up. Highly recommend you buy the canvas micarta handles on Amazon, then a bottle of Rit dye and customize your own handles. The factory handles are the only down side of the knife. I also removed the black coating on mine and put on a patina and 90 degree spine. My newest video on the 9 about 5 months ago, shows it all.

    It's always good to keep in practice. However I'm cheating. I bought magnesium shavings and they just arrived today. I'm putting them in my emergency kit as a backup in case of a disaster and you are not capable of starting a fire by other means.

      @@antoniosantiago2770 thank you! The PR4 is a hard one for me with handles. TKC handles are slightly to big, factory slightly to small. Out of all my knives, this is the only one where I seem to be in between.

      @ochocobushcraft1742
      I'd sand down the TKC scales a bit and make it your own.
      I am really drawn to that PR4 blade but I can't bring myself to buy the knife knowing I need new scales. It really bugs me that Esee hasn't changed the design or offer different scales.
      To be honest buying $50 scales for new knife is getting old. It used to be fun when ya bought a Becker at $89 and then mid it with $39 scales ....its not fun anymore its frustrating...Stubborn companies like Kabar Becker have got to start changing it up. I guarantee micarta scales in bulk ain't much more than those plastic ones.
      I can buy micarta scale blocks and sand them myself, only $5 . I'm gonna start making them and save $40+ . ..
      Beckers are in the $120 and above now ...UGH!
      Let's go Brandon.

    • @ochocobushcraft1742
      @ochocobushcraft1742  3 місяці тому

      @@airiksknifereviews9548 funny you should say that about the Becker, I just bought a black canvas micarta handles for my BK16. it doesn't really bother me so much with the Beckers because the canvas micarta scales they sell allow me to dye them and customize. Make them my own. I would like to see Esee do something different. And yeah, the prices are definitely climbing!
