I don't personally know Ryan Preece but I've watched him race from all of the short tracks in the Northeast all the way up to Cup and it's great to hear someone speak about his work ethic, communication and team building skills that it takes to race at any level!
This has been the reality for a very long time. I started watching back in the early 1970s, and really very few teams had solid, financial solid backing after the manufacturers stopped supporting the sport. Petty Enterprises had STP, the Wood Brothers had Purolator, Bobbby Allison had Coca-Cola following him around for years, but Junior Johnson ran 1975 with limited backing when Carling Brewery suddenly went away. Eventually Holly Farms took them on, but it was most the field was sponsorless. You saw teams run the same scheme for the entire season, like GM Goodwrench, Miller Brewing, Valvoline, Dupont, and a dozen others during the boom years. Those are gone now and multiple relationships with multiple sponsors are the default. This discussion should not surprise anyone.
If I got the opportunity to drive in any of the NASCAR series I would never leave the damm shop.
Being there every day to help out in any way I could.
I am a all in type of guy any way with a hard work ethetic any way.
But to get to race cars is a dream come true for me.
I actually enjoyed this ... some people don't realize how the money rolls down from the sponsor , you lose the sponsor you lose money , money makes things roll so much better , especially in Nascar . I love to read social media , but if i was big time sponsor in Nascar I'd probably have an agreement before Daytona 500 about what could and couldnt be said ....
right, and people still wonder why Legacy/NASCAR had to do what they did with Noah. Even if the team doesn't want to do it they have to do what they have to do to keep the sponsors happy.
Great insight to the business side of a racer.......
As a driver I would gladly take pusre money with a team as long as the team is getting better every single day.
At the start of the year if our car is only a 15th thru 20th place car, by end of the year I expect a car that will at least be a 12th thru 15th place car.
As far as the team goes pit stop wise we need be better ever single week.
Cool episode to see a small part of the business side of sports.
Something does not sound right or good about these financial setups. Not sure what it is, but just does not sound right in some way.
Why? It’s just like an ad agency just with sponsors instead and I think it’s great for Kevin as a way to make money while not driving. Especially since they work with more then just nascar. Think of almost like a manager for an actor they find them roles (sponsors) makes sure they do the duty the sponsor requires and the manager makes money from that. Instead of a guy that’s employed by hendrick or pensky who’s only job is sponsor relations who only looks for sponsor it’s Kevin harvick
Spoiler alert, life ain't fair
@@jeffsnelsoneven you got the skills, they sadly can’t pay the bills
The corporations not laying workers yet funding race cars where they won’t make much of a profit.
"he goes to the gym and meetings with his teams." that's pretty tough man. imagine if 90% of working adults had to do that?! Honestly I would've been more impressed if he was cold calling and walking into hardware stores.
Imagine having your brandability (I don’t think that’s a word) skyrocket because of a crazy wreck.
I mean look at your own danged phone holders: Bojangles, Ally, and Lionel. 🙄
I wanna drive NASCAR!!! I don’t even care what I get paid. 🏁🏁🏁
Bowman is still hanging out with Ally every single race
I bet 4 JRM drivers start showing up to work more! (They better)
Great to hear about Ryan Preace working off the track !Stewart’s media team is amazing. How do I follow KHI marketing? Winning is first but a close second is a personal relationship with the Driver and owner. IMO the fewer sponsors the better but
Khi has a Twitter page
Lol this is the only sport the talent's salaries go down instead of up lol
Can't hear nothing
Any company that sponsors a nascar team is just throwing money away. Just a 180 mph billboard.
Mike is a terrible interview,sorry...this man knows the backstage part of NASCAR. Take notes.
When are you guys ever going to fix the volume of this podcast? Whatever and add hits it just about blows the speakers out, as does your intro and outro music, and then you can't hardly hear the actual content because the level is so low. I've been begging for years now for you guys to listen more critically to the volume levels and get it right. It's too good of material to do that badly on that piece of the production element.
Can we not at least sit up while doing an interview?
One more reason I try to ignore Mike’s contribution to the podcast. Guy contributes nothing
Yeah if you can't even be bothered to sit up when doing an interview, that's pretty bad. @@bobbbobb4663
@@bobbbobb4663He founded it too though.
Turn your microphones up so you can hear what you're talking about
this is what’s wrong with NASCAR
This sport is broken.
The George Floyd meme was funny.
No it wasn't Because you're forgetting that a police officer put his knees around his neck for 9 minutes. Making fun of a murdered man with The caption under da knees is not funny
@@johnhaas2523 He died from a fentanyl overdose and the knee was on his shoulder.
Absolutely was
World is soft as pudding.
@@wheeler2816 Then you have a problem like every f****** conservative And I wish I could call you the R word But UA-cam isn't going to like it But your support of Trump is against the law of the United States of America just like you're f****** conservative beliefs.
Insanely funny
If I ran a team, I would stress for them not to utilize any social media. Don't want to upset the woke folk.
You need to use social media
and you'd never have any sponsors lol
Drivers need to grow up and act like adults. They are public figures, not just Joe Schmoe down the road.
