In this short video Matt shows you how to run the horizontal and vertical alignment processes of the Epson Epson Expression Home XP-4100 or XP-4105 inkjet printer. Although we have used an XP4105 in this video, the process is identical for the XP4100, the black version of this printer.
This is essential knowledge for resolving issues of regular lines, shadows, gaps or even "fuzzy" looking prints and is certainly worth doing when troubleshooting print quality issues. These handy alignment functions can be performed directly from your Epson Expression Home XP-4105, using its screen and control panel, removing a computer/laptop from the process entirely.
We hope you have found this video useful. Be sure to also keep up with us on Facebook (on. hZ1r4T) and Twitter (bit.ly/gtJNlw).

Yeah, on the Vertical I don't even get this. I just have random squares with no numbers.
Horizontal I just get a blank page

@ 1:20 LOL my printer prints three narrow rectangles rather than a single block. When I print a document, I feel like I have a case of double vision :p as many things are printed and then again at a slight offset.

And what if on the vertical check there’s a row with no squares at all?

I did a print head alignment and now my printer is so out of whack im in tears daily. None of my alignment tests come out looking how they are supposed to. My paper jammed told me to do an alignment now i have this 1 single line going down all my prints, did i say how im in tears daily bc of this, if i would have never done an alignment i wouldnt be having this issue. I have done test after test after test for a week now..none of my blocks look how they are supposed to, none of my lines look how they should, my other test with the overlapping has 1 big solid gap going down the side. This printer is not even a month old. I cant use it at all. Please can someone help me

Very helpful, but what if there is a row where more than one box looks perfect? Which one do you choose, or does it matter?

I've got an even bigger problem: all my little blocks are completely the same, every line. I have no idea which one to pick!

    hey Refresh person,
You explain this rather good, but I already did it... I mean, I had vertical lines problems and I did the print head alignment thing. I printed a page of blocks and was supposed to pick the blocks with the least stripes. But each one of the blocks was exactly the same, there was no difference whatsoever! How to choose the best from 7 identical blocks? I'm totally stuck. What do I do about that?
I can't reach you at facebook, I haven't got a supscription on social media. Do you ever check if you've got any replies?
If yes, please will you try to give this a thought? Thanks!

If they all have the same lines then it probably comes from a different source than alignment. I had to print out a few highly detailed full page images and runa printhead clean to get these lines to go away then I was able to do the alignment.
That being said I have tried every setting on horizontal alignt and it still looks like garbage with gaps and overlap in the image no matter what one I choose regret buying this printer could have bought a quality printer for this price instead feel like I bought a $30 printer that charges you for the ink savings up front.

@@franklinbolton8730 You seem to be in the same misery as I am, but in the horizontal stage... Mine is vertical.
I took it to technician and they claim to not have found the problem, and therefor not having the right to ask for payment. But after it had been with them, the situation has massively improved: they did a very thorough cleaning of the print heads, and made a ton of printouts. They said "each time we chose one random option (you know, among the ones that you can't really choose from, because they're all the same size), made the process of alignment work, saw if it was any better, and again, and again, but we didn't see any improvement big enough to claim we fixed the problem for real".
So I took my old printer back from the basement and installed it again thinking the Epson was a lost cause. But lately I tried it just to see, and it had actually gotten much better. I don't know if it was thanks to the selfless technicians, or that the thing had cured itself, but I can print now. If you look real close you can still some off-alignment in the vertical lines, but most people aren't that demanding about the look of their invoices... 😉
So I've come to the conclusion that Epson isn't as bad as I first thought. Maybe there's hope for you too yet?

@@ross6753 Thanks, I worked on it some more and found the drivers to be part of the problem.
I had already downloaded and installed the drivers and it said they had applied but I had to go into my printer settings and select it from a dropdown.
I do still have the line issues when printing from the phone app though.
Sorry to vent my frustration on your comment lol

Answer might be a bit late, but I did have the same problem on horizontal alignment.
I basically always chose the number with what looks like the least gap, I think #1. And I continued that for like 5 times until it actually came out with the expected pattern of overlaps and seperations.
So I guess the alignment was just way off and thankfully the adjustment seems to be relative everytime, so you can slowly but surely get it back in. I did the same for vertical like 3 times.
